2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

wasn't smooth for me. Detail was great, but it wasn't too smooth. did you record/output in 24fps?

I'm interested in your results, so please keep us informed. I'm all for uploading better video.

Its not smooth 30fps here, because its VRAM starved with 4x SMAA on my GTX 560 and fraps'ing doesnt help, and it runs in window mode. Crysis 3 is the only game that 100% my i5 2500k and with fraps its losing some fps :p
But if detail is good, thats fine. I have 80gb lossless compressed videos, so almost 30 minutes of footage for different levels :)

Ps. Its not exact Medium Settings, i've changed sys_spec_lights to 3, because on medium most lights do not cast shadows, where on 3 all and it does not affect fps greatly. I've also changed ssao 3 to ssdo 1, because performance difference is not that big, but quality is.

120Mbps version.

I use Mirillis Action! to record C3 and it barely touches performance. Costs money, though.

What I meant is that the movement seems a bit jittery, but I think that's more of the way YT handles videos. That's why I mentiones uploading a 24 fps video, because maybe that would negate some of the issues, or I think it also does 29.97fps.

Hopefully Shadowplay is good so the future cards will all have anti-fraps!

No, jittery is because its not fluid here, in other videos its better :)

BTW what cpu do You have? Probably better than mine and overclocked :P I can record C2 and BF3 without problems, but Crysis 3 is much more CPU intensive game. Of course i could record in 60fps in 720p low, but thats not the point :P

Youtube speed is terrible today.

My beta gameplay, but in 720p, i was recording it in 60fps. No hud gaming ftw :)

GTX 580

Here is some gameplay with stock CPU and GPU clocks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBLLOEQj9oo

BTW, this is in the beta, I've not released any gameplay post release, for whatever reasons... I did benchmark it post CPU-Overclock to 4.5Ghz.
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
30101, 1114159, 21, 51, 27.017

When my GTX780 arrives today, I plan on running some tests and putting some videos up. First one I put up will be a comparison/Benchmark video for both.

lol, guess eventually someone will want screenshots, eh?

Yes.
No-hud is the best way to play an FPS, if it is done right. I regularly play through games like Crysis and Half-life without hud. Glad I'm not alone.

(one reason I was super excited for Wii U, but no games!)

How's quality of this video in 1080p and fullscreen?
I'm trying to find good, but reasonable bitrate for youtube. This was compressed with 60mbps.

Using anything above 20Mbps (even that is really high) is just useless on youtube. They also compress it and mess up the quality. I render my videos in Premiere at 20Mbps constant bitrate. Here's one of my videos with those settings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awZEQsnZO1Y Don't have anything from a shooter that I have rendered recently with those settings though.

I also never use fullscreen because of the shitty quality. I have an add-on for bigger player instead.

Hey just a heads up, but Youtube will convert 60fps video down to 30fps so its better to just record the videos at 30fps and increase the visual quality of the games.

I don't think that's entirely true.

Here are Youtubes recommended bitrates for high quality video's (the ones on the bottom)

iLn8NsfKZUwh8.png

They recommend 50,000 kbps for 1080p video.

Here's a raw fraps video that I uploaded to Youtube and there's definitely a quality bump.

Also, I'm not sure if I've ever shared this here, but in Bioshock Infinite you can explore the tear that Elizabeth creates into Paris.

Lots of food for thought... thanks much!

This is in celebration of me getting 30+fps at 1782p with ENB enabled! Wooh!
Thanks to my GTX 780.

I'm jealous right now, but you'll be jealous next year when I have an 880.

A little bit. I was never jealous of people with 680's when I had my 580... But man... Two gens later is a big step up in terms of fps and frametimes. Everything's so smooth, and I can legit run Planetside 2 at 1782p with around 50-60 fps in large battles with PhysX on... WTF!? So good, you're gonna love the 880.

The bump you get from uploading a video in 1440p is bigger than anything you get from a higher bitrate I think. I got a video where I tried uploading a 1440p video and the quality is pretty great for a youtube vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcT85wG-H0Q

I uploaded the same video with 20Mbps and 50Mbps. It's from GRID 2 so there's a lot of movement in the picture that should benefit from the higher bitrate.
20Mpbs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwugDM5v1DA
50Mbps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQFrcC4CNYU&feature=youtu.be

Screenshots from both of them (actually managed to pause it at the same time!)
50 http://i6.minus.com/iOryYhr9pnwT4.png
20 http://i5.minus.com/i36DyxBrCqyIx.png

So take what you will from that, but to me it's just not worth more than double the file size for a video most people will never watch in fullscreen.

Also, this discussion should have it's own thread. :P So to not derail it completely, I'll crosspost this one I posted in the bullshot thread a while ago.

I know, but You cant play MP shooters in 30fps :P and additionally i've uploaded 60fps version on blip.tv :) I'm so waiting for yt 60fps support.

BTW here is first video of Medium settings Crysis 3 from two levels, but mostly supernova. There would be second from last mission, but youtube decided to delete it [long story] and my upload sux.

Lol, i dont know why two sections are doubled ... WTF.
eh i need to reupload that

You can set to record at 30 fps (or rather 29.97 fpsx), though.

Yeh, but in FRAPS when You are below 60 or not above 60 by much, it can lock Your game into 30fps, when You are recording in 30fps ;p I know some other progs record asynchronously to game framerate though.

--
I use Dxtory (the best one according to me) where the recording framerate is not dependent on the game framerate. Fraps is just shitty compared to it.

I've tried Dxtory, i couldnt even run it. Dont know why.

eh guys .i hate to be THAT guy here but would'nt it be better to continue this discusion in PM ?

You are kinda derailing the thread here.

Is showdown actually any good?

I haven't played much yet but what I have played has been pretty fun! It's a lot more arcadey than the other DiRT games, but it's fun spin on things.

Also, it's $6 right now at GreenManGaming when you use the promo code
GMG20-LLASD-D8WBQ

That's where I got it. Just a heads up though, some of banks see "GreenManGaming" being charged and assume that it's a gambling website and don't allow the charge through, so you might have to authorize your first purchase from GMG with your bank.

I've gotta ask, is your name short for Kakarot? It's all I think when I see your name. Also, I suppose your issue is more restricted by your setup. New GTX 770 looks amazing. I'd save up.

Yep, its started as Kakarotto :)
And yes, 770 is going to be my next gpu.
