So good.

Interesting, I'll give it a try when it comes down in price then sometime later this year. It's a shame that it's turned you off the series completely though, ThoughtsOfSpeaking. Especially when you're a fan of something for so long.

Yeah, id say $30 dollars is the sweet spot. Totally worth it at that price. As for turning me off, eh it happens. Every generation a genre I love dies. I lost beat-em ups in the PS1 generation, console puzzlers in the PS2 generation and im convinced that the PS3 generation will be the graveyard of hack and slash titles.

Of course there will some but the odd one or two, nothing like previous generations. Ill live

Favorite franchise?

Surprised nobody mentioned Afrika or Untold Legends.

Those were the days...

As for me, of course it's Gran Turismo. By a mile.

Uncharted would be the natural runner up, with God of War not too distant.

The final question:

=========================================================================== ========

What is your favorite PlayStation game or IP?

You can only pick one.

Jeez, that's hard. I..I can't pick. Just one favorite is too hard for me.

One thing I have to credit Neogaf on is getting me interested in older games. I've decided to try out the Legacy of Kain series and Legend of Dragoon thanks to it.

Volume doesn't count for much. There was nothing that captured the interest of gamers at large; at least not enough to justify the price tag. It's the same reason I'm skeptical of MS's "15 exclusives in the first year." Another case worth examining is the Vita. It had one of the best launch libraries I've ever seen, but it didn't move units because nearly everything was ports or near equivalents to software most gamers could find elsewhere.

I think Sony realizes by now that it's not the volume of exclusives but the ability of the software (and hardware) to generate interest that matters. But numbers are easy to make sound impressive, and it would be a nice piece of ammunition for forum console warriors if Jack Tretton announces off-hand a number that trumps MS's 15. Or better yet, actual titles for them.

Yeah. long as sony has a very steady stream of titles, and plently indies filling the gaps, im sure there will be plenty new to play.

There's got to be a middle ground between indie titles and AAA blockbusters.

I would love to see some beat-em ups, some fighting games and some obscure sports games like snooker titles having the same health and quality they had 15 years ago.

It seems to be too extreme at the moment.

After a long, self-imposed ban I'm back. Does anyone even remember me?

Look forward to watching Sony's E3 presser. MS has shit the bed with Xbox One, I really hope Sony doesn't follow their lead.

PlayStation IP?

All I wonder is how the market will look if PS4 has 70-80% market share...

and i certainly hope sony realizes how they got to those levels in the ps1 and ps2 days.

granted, there are hints that sony themselves are aware of how much they fucked up on ps3. gopher and kagari have alluded that people within sony working with a similar mindset they had in the early ps1 days, and cerny himself made a point of this at the playstation meeting. fuck, i don't know why they didn't go to square in japan and pitch them "remember that time you guys didn't suck? in the year 2000 alone you released like 6 rpgs. work with us and we'll help you get back to those days."

You had an Assassin's Creed (Altaïr) avatar for quite a while... I remember you from certain threads. I remember everyone. Except irl... forget names almost immediately irl. *sigh*

Ico was the second game I played on my PS2 and it remained my favorite Playstation game. Yorda is still in my heart.

Oh and I need Tretton at my Sony E3. No substitutes accepted.

sony has a golden opportunity to make the ps4 be wildly successful this coming generation with the wii u being a total non-starter and relegated to secondary console status even if they fix everything and the xbone being this malestrom of draconian corporate focus-grouped horseshit that nobody really likes.

after getting their ass kicked around with the ps3, this should be a fucking gimme. people are eager for a no-bullshit console with decent power, a decent price that works just like things have always worked. if sony can't enlighten themselves to this ridiculously blatant observation and still resort to some asshole bullshit then fuck em, plain and simple.

I mean they have all of the cards right now, no doubt.

They're coming up off a console that started off really roughly, and still hasn't found total success, at least compared to its older brother, so they're hungry. They are willing to change and become friendlier to developers (ie indie publishing, asking for advice and changing the DS controller up a lot, which would be sacrilege to some), they are doing things with hardware right (making an easy to develop for console, including a headset in every box ((this is huge, believe it or not)), making a really powerful console ). They have a lot of great first-party developers they've been building over the years that are really all starting to find their own. They are up against a system that isn't seen as a major graphical leap, that won't have any real system-sellers until Holiday 2013. They're up against another system that is seen as anti-consumer, and has been seen as not a great deal due to Gold prices and lack of variety in exclusives as of late. Nintendo could announce some crazy awesome games that would sell systems that are coming out this Summer or before the PS4's launch, and Microsoft can show real variety in their line-up and change some of their policies to ease people's concerns, but as of right now this is how it all stands.

If they come in at a reasonable price, with a good list of games, and no policies that are seen as anti-consumer, then I don't really see how they can lose. My biggest fear actually is that they take too much of the market, and we get a PS3-era Sony again some time down the line. The reason we have the PS4 is because of the Xbox 360 and Wii (to some extent, even though it was in a league of its own). I really don't want anyone to dominate because then it's bad for us. I'm still very excited for the Xbox One and Wii U, I think they'll both have awesome games at E3, but it's really Sony's game to lose at this point.

This E3 is going to go down in history as one of the biggest signs of what's to come for the next five to ten years, and I don't feel like that's hyperbole.

Not a big fan of Andy House as a speaker. He simply doesn't have much stage presence, and he has a high pitched voice.

Tretton comes off as pretty down to earth, and when he's talking it seems like he's having a natural conversation rather than something that's scripted.

E3 is usually Tretton's show, being in America and all. But Andy is now head of SCE, so he will probably be present in some form or fashion. And this being the big E3 revealing of the PS4, it'll be interesting to see who has more stage presence. Sure, it's an American show, but this is a global unveiling for Sony.

On a side note, I'm not expecting Cerny to be on stage, but it would be amazing to see him make a comeback. He reminds me of a more game-geeky version of Steve Jobs. Really passionate about what he's talking about, it comes from the heart, knows what he's talking about, and manages to hype up the audience. Cerny is a more calming figure.

LBP is my favorite Sony IP, love all that creativity even if I'm not.

If not my favorite, it's up there for me. My problem is that it gives me so many tools that my ideas become too ambitious and I never end up completing anything.

Hey, we've reached page 360. This bodes.... nothing.

These have been my thoughts recently as well and why it is rather disappointing that MS dropped the ball in terms of the policies on the system. If Sony doesn't screw it up, then they are poised to dominate, but that might also mean a potential lack of competition which is arguably why the PS4 is looking so good right now in what Sony is doing with it.

Why does everyone hate on Doritos? I get they're a big name/corporation, but they're pretty damn tasty in moderation.

You guys think we'll see MLB The Show 14 PS4 footage?

I really, really hope so. Best baseball game out there by miles, and one of the best sports franchises as well.

*hugs*

Man, I've been here too long. Since the days of Deadmeat, Futami, Olimario, etc. It's great to see how this place has changed over the years.

So if Sony does have a heavy anti consumer DRM policy... who wins?
Child, don't you worry
It's enough you're growing up in such a hurry
Brings you down, the news they sell you
To put in your mind that all mankind is a failure

But nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show how frightened we are
If you let me - I'll protect you - however I can
You've got to believe it'll be alright in the end

Duran Duran (What Happens Tomorrow)

They just need to have Andy House and Cerny again. Let Tretton do what he do. If Tretton wanted to be in the light, he'd have been at February's event. Kaz ain't trynna have another Ridge Racer moment either. Kaz likes where he's at right now.

I'm not getting the Andy House hate at all though. Dude's awesome. Dude's reserved candor is the absolute embodiment of Sony's humility after the catastrophic PS3. It's exactly what Sony needs, instead of the haughtiness shown by Mattrick and NFL commissioner.

Let's face it, PS3 got an ass whooping like no other at the hands of Microsoft. At least Dreamcast had the excuse of Saturn's failure. Xbox 360 took advantage of $599 and straight slapped Sony in the mouth, all disrespectful and shit. Now here comes Andy House, ready to settle the score like a Machiavellian prince who does what Cerny (the king) can't.

Even though I am not upset about the XB1 DRM, I do hope Sony launches the PS4 without it. Having a competitor with a more open system may force MS into making their DRM more competitive and customer friendly.

I am leaning toward the XB1 for launch and a PS4 later, but seeing Dragons Dogma as a PS4 exclusive and in the Launch window could change my mind.

oh and btw, SONY you better give me a decent loot game for my Vita. I am not excepting some shit from Gameloft. I bought the thing thinking Rune (aka Warriors Lair) was going to be released. Don't pull a Saturn Eternal Champions on me.

Damn. The first game was an underrated classic on the Genesis. Such a shame we'll never see another one in the series.

I agree, House has a nice soothing voice, as does cerny. Tretton gives me anxiety. I think the same folks from feb should be back

This from this year?
My interest has only gone up very recently, say in the past two weeks. If I get one though, it'll surely be a while after the PS4 which is top priority for my wallet which is trying to grow solely for the purpose of purchasing said PS4.

EDIT - I thought you were talking to me for some reason. I think the wait is getting to me.

Ok two bags of Zapps (one Craw Taters and one Voodoo), one case of Angry Orchard, one bottle of Mount Gay Extra Old and then will make breakfast and get takeout for lunch/dinner.
My E3 Monday is set.
