I think you mean VII.
It is exactly as strong as everybody thinks and it's not an opinion, just by definition. It might not be as strong as vocal fans make it sound, but when you take everybody into account and quantify their demand it's the next best thing to actual sales to gauge the potential.
It's funny how not-random the searches are. When my mother worked out of the country every time I flew anywhere I got 'randomly searched.' I didn't even live with her or in her house yet every single time I flew I got searched. The minute she stopped working overseas the 'random searches' stopped. haha

wtf how is kingdom hearts ahead of a brand new Chrono game, I know people like kingdom hearts but one of those would be a WTF MEGATON moment while the other would just be a long time coming.

I said this a little more in-depth before, but I don't think remaking Final Fantasy VII would be as easy as people think.
It'd surely sell, but they have to do it right or risk tarnishing that brand and game to some extent. Just think about the pressure in finding a voice actor for Cloud. Somebody would have to be a voice for Cloud after all these years, officially (no Advent Childrent bullshit). That's a ton of pressure. They would also have to balance what they do with the battle systems, the graphics, the music, etc.
Recreating almost everything in one of the most beloved and followed games of all time is no easy task in reality. I haven't played FF VII, but think about this: (FF VII SPOILERS)
the Aeris death scene. They have to recreate that completely, with VO and all.
Try and think about that. One of the most iconic scenes in gaming would have to be figured out and recreated in a proper way for 2014. That's fucking hard to try and do. That is pressure. A shitty Final Fantasy or three is bad, but not as bad as the possibility of screwing up FF VII and messing with all those fans and adoration.
Why the hell do people want a FFVII R? You can play the game on PS3, PSP, Vita right now. Why not just let square make something new again, creating that magic feeling all over again instead of just reliving them?
Does anyone know where this conferance will be up after its done? Are these conferences usually up on Youtube etc. very quickly after they are done? I wont be able to watch it live, but i want to watch it the next morning.

it is definitely not as easy as people think but at the same time it's probably easier than creating a new game. But it would probably take the same amount of resources. So yeah an FF7 remake would mean no new FF for a long time. Still worth it IMO.
I don't think voice acting is necessary in the remake at all though.

They would have to use the Advent Children VA - he's done Cloud in every other game afaik. I know he was Cloud in Kingdom Hearts and Crisis Core. In fact, I'd be kinda mad if they changed the VA because I've gotten used to his voice being that.
EDIT: Also, he was Cloud in Dissidia. I can't see them changing that VA if they ever did remake it.

Isn't there an HD collection of KH coming for PS3 soon? Should I pick that up? I've always been interested but never took the plunge. Are they RPG's or what?

I agree, it would be difficult, and SE has said as much (beyond HD towns are hard, but creatively). But the original game has aged poorly, and has little hope of capturing the imagination of new gamers for much longer. It won't be a brand forever, and they've already done one round of milking. If they want another, they'll have to do something.
Something on smartphones/tablets most likely, but something.

umm exactly, the fact that chrono break has no chance of happening makes that a bigger megaton and should probably be higher up on the fan resurrection chart.
Destiny (with exclusive content; obvious)
Fallout 4 (in Austin)
Dragon Quest VIII HD (favorite RPG of all time)
Jak 4 (PLOX Naughty Dog)
new IP from Naughty Dog
The Last Guardian (when can I has?)
The Last Of Us PS4 port (from what I've heard, it's amazing)
The Walking Dead season 2 (has this been confirmed yet?)
Minecraft Playstation 4 Edition (I think it's time, I put well over 200 hours into xbox version)
and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
EDIT: lol, forgot Kingdom Hearts 3

If it's really on the PS4 now, then it had to have been in development for quite awhile before then. I'm actually curious as to how much of an upgrade visually it's received.

They're ARPG's. Real-time combat engines but with RPG elements. And the KH collection is supposed to be among the best. I believe Kagari said that it had 4xMSAA, so it has an extremely clean image quality.
perhaps, but the tech demo they showed made me tingly and made me want to replay it in those graphics. I think it would be amazing for people who played the game in the 90s to get to play it again with those types of graphics. The only people who lose out are those who never played it in the 90s and the remake is their first time. They may not "get" it, but even for them it'd probably be better than most shit out.
