I don't think he said that. He said that the price announcement was added today. Not that the price was decided today.
Big corporations make decisions as fast as glaciers move. There is no way in a million years they just decided it today.
Corporations dont work on impulses, I call BS on this
He said that he heard from 3rd hand sources.
There is no way in a million years they just decided it today.
He's definitely wrong then. The announcement of the price, console, and release has been finalised for a good while now and was due to be announced at E3 prior to last week. SCE did have a range in place for the price, so maybe there is a bit of a loss in message once the word reached his ears.I don't think he said that. He said that the price announcement was added today. Not that the price was decided today.
Did he also say Sony just decided on used games after the microsoft conference? Because what he sounds ridiculous.
Giant Bomb has been a sore disappointment ever since this whole thing started.
GB not even once.
And who cares because?
They definitely DID NOT decide on that price today.
"I don't believe it so it can't be true so they're clearly a disappointment".
Brilliant.
It's probably what makes this more like the Saturn really: Sony more or less followed Nintendo's trajectory, albeit missing the lesson of releasing cheaper that they themselves should've seen with the Saturn fiasco and that even Nintendo themselves pointedly avoided (instead it was the games costing the Earth.) They weren't anywhere near the leader's position the first time through, the second time around they managed to get in a gridlock, even though by the end of the generation it's rapidly slipping from them (and neither won Japan by any stretch of the imagination), and for the third console they just blow up their good will. Maybe the Xbox fans will be more inclined to stay, especially given console ages and the online angle, but I doubt it'll be by enough.Microsoft somehow developed N64 Nintendo and PS3 Sony arrogance from simply being competitive this past generation.
... Hmm, I was about to shoot that down as they couldn't know how much everything'd cost, but I realized my logic was backwards: they weren't planning ahead all the tech, they were planning at a price point and building the system to that most likely. After $599.99 they probably wanted to be AT LEAST $100 below their last console, and thus they put together what they could at $399.99. The fact that this didn't register as a good idea with Microsoft shows how messed they really care about their console I think.Fucking. Bullshit.
There's not even a minute chance that that could be true. You think Sony watched the MS conference and threw together their price slide accordingly? This shit is planned to the T and set months, if not years, back.
Probably saw MS's price and adjusted accordingly.
