Wii U Games 2013

When was the last time a Nintendo home system had so many big name games being released in such a short period of time as this?

Splinter Cell, Batman, Assassin's Creed, Watch_Dogs, Mario & Sonic, Call of Duty, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda, Sonic, Mario 3D, Wii Fit...

...how the hell did this happen? :p

EDIT: If it's not too much trouble, how about a link to a trailer below each game?

All I can think of is the piss poor advertising. I've pretty much decided to stick with my Wii U/3ds this gen. If third parties don't bring their games to these consoles in full, they won't get my money.

It is certainly a pretty stellar lineup- I'm baffled that some people consider that a "Wasteland".

Than make sure you buy all the core third party games for Wii U.

Only way for the Wii U to get at least decent third party support is if the games sell, and the console sells.

Deus Ex, Watch Dogs, AC4, SC: Blacklist and Batman: AO all preordered. I also own ME3, ZombiU, AC3, Darksiders 2 and Batman: AC. Did I do good third parties???

...so we can blame you when Activision bails. Good job.

I don't own any Activision games either since they're not on the eShop

I think its a pretty consistent list for a platform not a year old.

Indeed, that's a surprisingly big lineup, if you look at it as a whole.

The problem for next year is that we can already start removing almost all Ubisoft and Warner Bros. efforts from the lineup :lol

Thats one of the reasons I'm stocking up now lol.....:(

Deus Ex HR DC is listed on the eshop as coming soon. Is this new or was it already there?

Edit - Can someone please answer this.
I first noticed it this week. Wasn't there a couple weeks ago.

A couple smaller online merchants list it for August 27th. We'll see if that ends up being true.

Yeh the only reason I would consider it really is for the split-screen multi. I'm not interested in the 'Campaign' or online.

I just never got why it became so popular. I've never been into online MP. I tried ME3 MP and had fun for awhile but it just gets boring. Pretty much the same thing with COD from what I have seen.

So far we know of the following Wii U games from Nintendo in 2014 already:

Bayonetta 2
Mario Kart 8
Yarn Yoshi
X
Super Smash Bros
Mario & Sonic (only likely published by Nintendo in JP as in previous entries, it's in the Nintendo-published section of the press site though)
SMT X Fire Emblem (no mention but surely it's in 2014)

When is Wii Party U and Wii Fit U out again?

So the list above shows 8 Nintendo-published games already known for 2014, how many is there this year? I REALLY doubt we'll get a last minute surprise, we surely know every single game from Nintendo coming out from now til Dec 31st.

For 3DS all we know for next year is Mario Golf World Tour and Yoshi's New Island (Year of Yoshi next year? SMW came out in 1990 so it's not a big anniversary), and also the final Layton game and Bravely Default for NA and EU.

That's good.

I'm still angry that the Wii U isn't getting KH3, I'm getting a PS4 so it doesn't really matter but it still feels like a punch in the face after how much we supported Square.

The only possible surprise I could see is a Xenoblade HD port in preparation for X.

One more note- SMTxFE and Yarn Yoshi are not confirmed for 2014. I imagine they will be, but they were not given 2014 dates and were not shown off at E3 unlike other 2014 games.

Beautiful OP, OP. : )

DKC Tropical Freeze and Mario World 3D look great. Too bad that Mario Kart is next year, but it seems to be shaping up very nicely.

I fully intend to preorder X, Smash Bros U and MK8. Thats for when we get actual dates.

That's good.

I'm getting angry at the PR bullshit about Wii U not being a viable platform. Really 3rd parties, XBONE/PS4 is more viable at the moment?!? These consoles aren't even out yet!

I know Captain Smoker already answered, and said he just forgot it.

But I have to ask, why would anyone want to spend time and money on a game that 1. is the last game in a Trilogy and 2. will be the ONE AND ONLY game in the Mass Effect universe they will ever get on Wii U.

I'd place that time and money on some game/series where I now I'll get more.
I played all the games on PC. I'll double dip on Wii U once I can get it for $20 or less. Surprised that's not possible already, but I guess there just aren't that many copies out there.

Probably worthy of a thread in itself, but I'd like to see more lipservice paid to Wii U's huge indie lineup (beyond just Project Cars). Stuff like Two Brothers, 1001 Spikes, The 90s Arcade Racer, Shovel Knight, Road Redemption, Unepic, Scram Kitty, Pier Solar HD, Cloudberry Kingdom, Tengami, QUBE, Guns of Icarus Online, Craymore, Rex Rocket, A.N.N.E., Super Ubie Land, C-Wars, Oddworld New N Tasty and so many more really look fantastic. I'm anticipating some of them as much as any of the big stuff from Nintendo or traditional publishers. Sort of like Vita, it seems that indies are really where the energy is for Wii U for 3rd parties.

Established 3rd parties are also finally starting to delve into eShop with some worthwhile efforts too (DuckTales Remastered, D&D Chronicles of Mystara, Pac-Man Museum). I hope that trend continues as well.

If the Wii U rebounds than it will be a "viable" platform for third parties, but it's still annoying.

Nintendo fans love games, third parties should know that.

I'll be buying CoD. Treyarch does a great job with the ports, but my #1 reason is pointer controls. I am terrible with dual analog, and pointer aiming makes me actually good at FPS.

The multiplayer in these games is actually really fun. Smooth, pure gameplay. I never touch the campaigns though.

Well... Is it impossible for someone to have played the other games on a different platform, not caring about carrying over save games (with the main story choices being in the interactive comic) and being compelled to be able to play it on the gamepad (when TV is not always available). Or for someone to want to check out what the series is about, without wanting to buy a different console, and just wait for the 3rd installment on WiiU to drop in price below 25 bucks? It's a good game and a good port, so i don't see why it shouldn't be on the list.

You know what game EVERYONE is forgetting?

Art Academy. XD

The Miiverse app is this summer, but the game I think is in 2014.

Wii Fit U you mean? :P

Seeing the lineup on the first page has easily, easily solidified my purchase of my Wii U. This year is going to be awesome and next year even more so.

These system is going to be insane in a few years to boot.

Yup, there are quite a lot of games I am going to buy before the end of the year. Just wish NA didn't have those weird late release dates for Pikmin 3, W101, and Rayman Legends. Nothing new to play in July is lame as hell.

As always, thank god for Monster Hunter.

I'm getting TW101 and Donkey Kong and probably Mario 3D depending on money. Not too shabby I guess, I was only expecting to buy Monster Hunter.

A hat in time looks incredible.. Hope it happens.. Also i still hope shadow of the eternals smehow gets made.

Pikmin3
Wonderful 101
Rayman:Legends
Potentially Splinter Cell
Windwaker
WatchDogs

And maybe 3D World and AC:IV ... not a bad lineup at all for a supposedly 'dead' console.

Well...my haul looks like:

New Super Luigi U (next week!)
Splinter Cell
Arkham Origins
Watch_Dogs
Wind Waker HD
Rayman Legends
Sonic Lost World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World

All I can say is thank God for the Digital Deluxe Program :(

Um, that's a very good possibility. That game sorta fits the F2P model perfectly.

It does. O_o

They could do it like Tank! Tank! Tank!;

Have the complete package at retail, and on eShop a free barebones version like free-drawing with basic tools and then pay to buy certain new tools for the ultimate experience. Perfect for newcomers to get in the hang of it and then buy the tools bit by bit and the retail package (or alternatively all the tools on eShop at once) for the veterans.

Nintendo can still make more tools later if they need to, fee or not, whichever is fair I guess, maybe free for retail owners.

Make a thread. I will buy nearly every one of those games assuming I have the money, but I think everyone should be reminded of the strides Nintendo has already made in this area.

As good as Nintendo's booth was this year, I do think a big opportunity was missed by not having more of these games on display. Cloudberry Kingdom was a total hit as far as I could tell, and it would have been great for the rest of these games.

I'm with you on this.
Especially considering three factors:

- the local multiplayer is so stressed and I love it
- offtv is a key for my actual lifestyle behaviour also for multiplatform titles
- there is/will be a very good amount of exclusive games (* with 3DS or PC)

Already Available:
Zombi
Land
New Mario (+ New Luigi)
Lego City
MH Ultimate (*)
Scribblenauts Unlimited

2013:
Scribblenauts Unmasked (*)
Pikmin 3
W101
Sonic Lost world
DonkeyKCR2
Zelda WW HD
Super Mario Land
(Plus for those interested also: Wario, Fit , Party, Sing)

2014:
Mario Kart
Smash Bros (*)
Bayo2
Project X
Fire Emblem x SMT
Yarn Yoshi

My buying list for this is year is quite long:

New Super Luigi U
Game&Wario
Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101
Splinter Cell
Arkham Origins
Watch_Dogs
Wind Waker HD
Rayman Legends
Sonic Lost World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
(also probably Wii Fit U and Wii Party U)

Besides those there are a lot of indie games to come this year: Shin'en games, 90's Racer and a lot more. Luckily I get to use the digital promotion to buy these.

Definitely:
Pikmin 3 (I might have to buy it 500,000 times to make sure it does well)
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freezie
Super Mario 3D World (not what I wanted, but it's going to be a great game. Damn you, EAD Tokyo...)
Call of Duty: Ghosts (hooray for pointer aiming)

Probably:
Wonderful 101 (Looks great gameplay-wise. But I want to try the controls for myself.)

Possibly:
Watch_Dogs

yeah, this year is pretty packed for me too,

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Game & Wario
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Pikmin 3
Sonic: Lost World
Super Mario 3D World
Wii Fit U
Wii Party U
The Wonderful 101
watch dogs

i'm also considering deus ex and splinter cell and i still haven't picked up tank tank tank or mh.

all this and more 3ds stuff to get. this is not going to be a kind year to my wallet.
