Wow, that so-called "remastered" soundtrack sounds like ass! I only listened to the opening and Mako Reactor, but the originals are much better. These sound so flat and thin instead of epic and cool.

So let me get this straight, some people want to play FF7 with ugly facial mods and worse music? lol, okay ^^

ahahah OMG those screens look like shit

FFVII is defined by the "chibi style" characters, that looks goofy as fuck with advent children style models...

its almost offensive someone would do that on purpose... disgusting

I don't really agree with the chibi part, but I think overly detailed models (like that Cloud one) look really out of place.

I know someone posted about saves earlier, but it didn't work for me. So, has anyone gotten other save files to work?

Playing through this now! Still an awesome game. Any word on if VIII is coming anytime soon? I've never beaten that one (and I don't hate it like some people).

Also, if I get mods now, will I have to start a new playthrough?

Jeebus, the music on PC... is just.... as bad or worse than I remember it :(

The game still plays great though. I'm actually way more bothered by the graphics than the music.

Edit: wait a minute, mods? Does the Steam version support them? I was told by a friend that the Steam version didn't and I just took his word for it. Can I replace the music with the superior ps1 version?

Yes, the Steam version supports mods as well and you can replace the music.

Anxious Heart is great, but I'd much rather have Voices of the Lifestream modded in.

I can't believe no one has done this yet.

I've downloaded it, and played about an hour into it and I must say that I'm pleased. It sounds great, looks great, and has just enough in the way of graphics options to make it feel worthwhile.

I still love FFVII, and I'm perfectly happy to once again give it my money.

Only thing that bugs me is that they were too lazy to patch in real controller support. Fucking Back Button and RB to run? Y being pause? And having to push X on the keyboard annoys me every time. I sit down on my couch with controller in hand, then this pops up and I have to get back up and walk over to my computer.

Outside of that, they did a fine job of making it playable and not look like complete ancient garbage.

They should have done a lot with this release.

Things that probably could have been easily implemented. Better controller support, cleaner background upscale, battle models outside of battle, etc.

I just thought of a work around to earn Steam Achievements, but still have Tifa's Bootleg installed.

You could install Bootleg, play through the game, backup your save file, uninstall/reinstall the game.

Then when you load up your save file, all of the achievements will pop.

or just download a save without the bootleg, get the cheeves, then install bootleg and play the game as is.

I'm sure you know this, but you can remap the buttons in the launcher

I tried using Motioninjoy. It emulates my PC-controller as if it were a PSX-controller. It's a bit of a hassle but at least the D-pad works now (because playing FF7 with analogue sticks is so weird, especially in the menus). But yeah, they could've done a better job at it. The least they could have done is add in fully functioning, hassle free, bug picture mode controller support.

Sounds like this game is two dollars too expensive.

Probably will see 33-50% off at some point during the summer sale.

Worth noting that the title is available on Green Man Gaming for activation on Steam, will get a sizable discount on there.

Anyone have the full Tifa's Bootleg downloaded?

Mind PM'ing me and we could discuss getting it uploaded to Google Documents like Legacy Zero did with the Anxious Heart mod?

Would be nice to just put in the OP so people don't have to deal with Torrents or slow speeds.

We could even trim some of the mods that aren't necessary to make the file smaller. We probably will have to anyways because the maximum on Google Cloud is 15GB.

I kept meaning to look, but then I'll forget until the next time I start it, and by then it's too late (because I'm lazy).

I don't mind the stick other than in battle. There have been a few times where I accidently click left or right just the tiniest bit, and instead of doing what I meant, I change rows or defend.

Green Man Gaming had a 20% off code. But, yeah. Unless you're dying to play it, Steam summer sale has to be soon.

What folder do you install the Anxious Heart mod to?

EDIT: Nevermind, found TommyT's instructions on the last page:

Download the torrent (lol, actually quite fast though) and run the installer. Personally I just created a temp directory on my desktop and installed to it. It created a data folder and another inside that directory. Inside the data folder is a music_ogg folder. Replace your Program Files(x86) - Steam - Steamapps - Common - FFVII - Data - music_ogg with that folder.

I started the game on my main PC with cloud saves and was playing on my laptop over the last couple of days on a trip. Now I have returned and nothing will sync. The laptop save, which drew from the original cloud save won't upload at all to the cloud. I have tried transferring a save hard drive to hard drive but it doesn't seem to be recognized. Anyone have similar issues or solutions? Ideally I would like my most current save from my laptop back in the cloud.
