Yeah, it may not stay at 80+, but to drop to 60, basically 1 out of every 2 reviews would have to be rotten from here on out. I'm gonna say that's unlikely.
 
Hey, so has anyone watched a movie in RPX? (Regal Premium Experience)

I wanna watch Pacific Rim in Imax but it's only listed as imax 3D in my area, smh.
Noticed RPX listed and from the description it sounds like it's basically imax? If it's not, then dang, I guess i'll see it in regular.
 
I hope the Kaiju are depicted as sympathetic creatures with good character arcs showing their personal growth and development over the course of the movie.

Never heard about this RPX thing. Will have to check it out eventually. Two theaters in my area with it.

Also saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK2IOaiVQl8 which says "Coming Soon" on the Regal site. I'm pretty interested now.
 
So why is this movie not actually playing anywhere even though it opens this weekend?

The amount of showings in my area are really limited.
 
I watched TDKR in RPX and the two main differences were that it was incredibly fucking loud and more expensive. There might have been nicer chairs too but all I remember is the sound of Batman's flying thing vibrating me so much my vision blurred.

Okay so I ordered these^ tickets for the gf and I for this Saturday but I ended up getting tickets for Thursday's 10pm showing just now too for my best friend's and myself. Is something wrong with me? I've never been this hyped for a movie before.
 
This movie rocked. Get's straight to the point and gives us what we want to see and them some. Plus, the characters aren't bad, and you give a damn. They're developed enough to have completed arcs. Pacific Rim should have no problem making money, despite horrid early marketing. I'd strongly recommend a go at it. Score is fantastic, too.

Tonight Del Toro said he wanted to make movie for the kids to go crazy and he did it.

My guess is that The kaiju are probably the earth spirits trying to teach us that pollution is wrong. In the end the kaijus and jaegers are just an elaborate toy game in some kids imagination as the Mid credits reveal. Fade to black.

I can't help think when reading some reviews (not just for this film) that the reviewer is writing them in a smoking jacket by a window with rain running down it, in black and white, with a thesaurus. All the while thinking "I must sound deep".

Yea, I think I'll get regular for midnight. I'm looking for that Giant screen that real imax has, but whatever. Still hyped.

My local cinema in the UK has updated the listings and now has Pacific Rim.

Limited release my hairy yellow butt.
 
Seeing this in 2 days, it has been a while since i was this hyped for a movie. I love seeing this type of movie at the cinema (as do my friends), i get the feeling i'll be going back for repeat viewings. Bring this shit on!

If you don't have showtimes, or just a couple, be patient. By tonight, tuesday night, all theaters SHOULD have their full listings for this weekend. Again, it just depends on the chain/theater. Here in the Orlando area a bunch of theaters added to their Thursday night shows but still don't have their friday--> fully scheduled.
 
You have to get permission from a studio to put out showtimes early on a film. Once you do you rarely put more than a screen or two worth of times. Its more common for a full schedule to be ready on the tuesday before an upcoming weekend.

It's essentially a LieMAX theater setup. I think that a lot of RPX screens are equipped with Dolby Atmos speaker setups, which makes for a tremendous difference. I saw Life of Pi in RPX, and it was absolutely incredible from an A/V perspective.
 
The heat in the google search index was at 21 the sunday before release, ended up opening at 39 mill.

PR sunday before release is at 25 so i think this can easily do 50-60 on opening weekend.
 
OK so I was vaguely aware of this flick but just saw a commercial that at one point said "Star Wars for a new generation" and that made me roll my eyes.

That said, it did prompt me to read some reviews. Now I'll go watch a trailer.

My tickets are booked. I like going on busy nights, people don't sit in seats not allocated to them.

I went to see star Trek and booked my seats (you book specific seats at my cinema) walk in, there are like 7 people in this 200 seat cinema, and some cunt is sitting in my seats.

Now, on the one hand, fine, I don't care it's empty so I can sit elsewhere.

On the other hand, YOU GET TO PICK YOUR DAMNED SEATS WHEN YOU PAY, so why not pick the ones you want, you dick.

I'm not holding my breath for #2, but hopefully this film does pave the way for more sci-fi/action films. If Elysium does well the future could look bright for us nerds.
