Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Just got back from a 2D screening. It was really good.

Everything involving the sword made me go "YES"! Especially the part where they cut the Kaiju down the middle.
While I do see many anime tropes, they were used pretty well here. We could have used more development for the other two pilot teams though.

You can tell Del Toro loves Tokusatsu, giant mech shows and Kaiju movies. I really hope this does well, or at least word of mouth gets around that it's good.

This movie was made for me: giant robots, incredible special effects, Guillermo del Toro. And that's why it's truly unfortunate that it just didn't click with me. There wasn't a single scene where I was glued to the edge of my sit, or in awe of what I was watching. There were a couple of funny moments, but the whole thing was really disappointing. So far MOS, WWZ, and now Pacific Rim have all let me down. It's up to Elysium to restore my faith in movies this summer.

The guy that plays the last vampire that Blade kills in Blade 2 is also in this movie.

Del Toro should be the one handling the next Batman trilogy.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Eugh had a cinema employee confirm that EVERY poster they had to give away was taken home by an employee before they even got out for customers. WTFFFFFF
That shouldn't even be allowed. If I were a fan enough and went there, I would have probably asked to speak with a manager about it.

Just got back from seeing, awesome fucking movie. Hope we get a sequel or another giant robot movie from Guillermo del Toro even if it isn't in the Pacific Rim universe.

Got my tickets for tomorrow. Going for the Dolby Atmos viewing in 2D. I'm just a big sound buff and Atmos is pretty damn impressive. So I'm really excited for this movie with Atmos. If it turns out good, I'll check out the IMAX3D version in a second viewing.

I saw at an Atmos theater today and it was really good.

LOVED this movie. I think there was so many things they could have got wrong and you walk away knowing the entire team behind it has a love for mechs, monsters, and anime.

Everything from the mech stances, missiles from the chest, gripping the ground after a blowback, and the battle cry before using the sword was all amazing. Even the creature designs were good and all had trademark elements to make them stand out.

Even though it blew up the budget, using ILM really set a new bar as far as scale, water effects, and detail. Everything was so damn massive and awesome to watch in IMAX 3D. It was post-converted, but it did have enough in there to warrant a few extra bucks.

Hoping word-of-mouth spreads this weekend.

My god, that second battle. Some of the best action I've ever seen.

I'm convinced that CG should be only be used for Mech battles in all films. I don't care if Fincher is creating some epic backdrop ala Zodiac I just want one of these robits in it.

Dat scale. Del Toro doesn't let you forget how big these suckers are. And you can actually tell whats going on in the action scenes for once.

The actual acting parts with real peeps was more or less meh. It was alright but a little more cheesy than I was expecting. Still, there were some good scenes in there such as
the little girl Mako deal.
And Charlie Day was pretty damn decent.

I want to see it again. The action and overall entertainment factor of the movie destroyed all of the other summer films.

so yeah... just counted. have 45 yoji shinkawa posters of good to perfect condition (bumpy ride home).

So yea pm me if you still are looking for one. Will start replying to stuff tomorrow.

McG.

Fucking crack.

This movie was fantastic. Loved it. Completely over the top. Loved the over the top performances too. They were exactly at the level they needed to be.

Yep, whoever typed that has no concept of reality or a a deaf blind mute...probably with head on keyboard, lol

Saw it in 2d tonight. Very very cheesy, and therefore very very awesome. Me and my friends have already decided to go see it again in IMAX later this week. Maybe even Sunday.

After Thinking more about this, it was easily the most fun movie I have seen since at least Dead Man's Chest.

I really don't get how they gave Gypsy so much character, not even sentient but actually felt like a real character to me(more than any of the transormers).

Hey, just to reiterate, I have a few of these posters left, pm me, happy to ship them to gaffers if you pay for shipping or trade for the others.

Best acting performance:
that little girl who played young Mako. That was a very important scene that detailed one of the protagonist's big personal conflicts, and a lesser acting performance could have screwed it up, but that little girl did it just about perfectly. No fake movie crying like a lotta kids, her slow turn around and realization that it was over, the way she stumbled out of that alley, all great

Agreed.

You know, for a movie that's about end-of-the-world heroics, I found PR largely heartless. Understandably, there's a lot of talk in here on this versus MoS, but the one movie I can't help comparing this to - and I hate to be that person - is Speed Racer; still the best live action anime movie.

Back me up on this, Korey

That all said, this was a great IMAX experience. I went to AMC Lowes 13 at Lincoln Square, and I had the absolute best seat for a movie like this: I-26.

Oh and I still felt GlaDos had a big presence. You could still recognize her a lot, so much so that me and my buds were making lame Portal jokes during the movie.

I'd be in the dick
Saw it in IMAX this afternoon and loved it. I felt like a little kid again. A lot of times when I was younger I would spend the weekend at my grandma's house and would rent a bunch of the old Godzilla and Gamera movies and marathon them. It took me back to those days. There was a sense of awe, wonder, and scale that I have seen in very few movies these days and the action scenes were phenomenal. Definitely seeing it again this week. Probably one of my all time favorite movies.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
enjoyed the crap out of that.

wonderfully directed action, hilarious acting.

top notch monster and robot designs.

reminded me of that rampage esque fighting game for ps2... what was that....

I don't think I've been more exhausted after viewing a movie in the theatre than Pacific Rim. Just an incredible thrillride. Also, props to them for not botching the 3D. Looked incredible!

Went to see it Thursday. Good movie, but far from amazing. I am glad it was good, since I had so much hype. I really hope it does well at the box office.

Finally a fucking movie that was literally made for me, it brought back so many things I loved about anime and giant monsters when I was a kid that I literally could not contain my smiling face. The whole time there was something cool around the corner and for once this movie isn’t trying to be some deeper meaning of life shit it gets straight to the problem -boom- like evilore said: no fucking origin story, no love story nothing really weighing down the film it was cliché but fucking refreshing! It was everything I was hoping for and more my god I will follow del toro to my death! Yes the story and some characters were cheese but it was good anime cheese nothing me and you(GAF) wont like about it….fucking movie was excellent, it has some amazing pacing and the world was so unique I just wanted to see more, some seriously cool world building here. Oh man and the pay load-the action was off the fucking charts for once the 3-d helps add dimensions to the movie. Good lord I cant stop thinking about it, it felt like a ride. The fights all had their own flavor to them it was fucking amazing. I do have some problems but there so minor I wouldn’t want them to be spoiled here. My girlfriend fucking loved it too and she hates this shit and I quote “this isn’t like transformers at all!” she was actually gripping my hand when the fights were happening, she actually gave a shit about the characters :)

This is a fucking mecha vs kaiju movie yet it has a heart and soul, I believe if you would have giving this movie to any other director it wouldn’t be like this. Sorry but it’s a true love letter to all the things me and you love about the culture. the story is simple but it is a ying and yang because when thinking about it a complex story would honestly ruin this movie, also del toro is playing it safe for his first major budget film, i think his intentions is to rope people in and then get weird with story bits but he already mentions he has a lot of things going on if there is a sequel. Oh man that’s another thing here this is a movie! and if it never succeeds atleast we don’t have some ridiculous cliffhanger like all these recent movies try to do to make a franchise. I just loved it seriously the best action blockbuster in forever I rank it above avengers if that means anything to you guys.
