Infamous second son new screens

I wonder if they will. Their excuse for everything in the PS3 games was that because you were electric, you made guns explode in your hands and whenever you got into a car, it stopped working or blew up or something. A guy who is not naturally electric as the protagonist makes me wonder what excuse they'll use this time if you can't use guns and cars.

I don't care what excuse they make as long as traversal is good. So far it looks to be good. Along w/ that, as long as the powers are good I'm happy for not needing guns. Your hand is essentially a gun. I don't need them to waste their time w/ guns.

He's in a car in the trailer so there's no conduit/power reason but I don't think you will drive anything. Might be a bit too GTA like. Probably why there are vent shafts everywhere so you can get around quickly using your turn-to-ashes power.

Sadly, I didn't get to play it. It was just like, a 10 minute walkthrough by the devs. I sat in line for that and Killzone: Shadowfall. Both looked awesome, but inFAMOUS Second Son just had me pumped. Then again, I'm a huge inFAMOUS fan, so I would have more than likely been excited just because of more inFAMOUS.

I think what stuck out to me the most about the presentation was the crispness. You know how in inFAMOUS 1 and 2, when you were in certain areas of the map, you'd get that crisp, 60fps? Well, Second Son had that crispness throughout the entire demonstration. The visuals were clean, smooth, and the animations very fluid. It was the little things that stood out to me the most, like the way Delsin moves when exiting an airvent, or how he flicks his wrists when launching his fire attacks. Really impressive stuff.

The Sucker Punch guys were also really cool dudes, and I talked to them for a little bit after the presentation. They definitely have my money when this game launches.

EDIT: I'm kind of hoping that the PS4 does for Sucker Punch what the PS3 did for Naught Dog: put them on the map, and getting them the attention they deserve.

That's awesome. I remember wasting a lot of time in the outer areas of infamous just to fool around with the higher framerate, so the bolded is great to read.

I'm pretty sure they confirmed it was 30fps in the exclusive gameinformer article a few months ago. As long as its a stable 30fps I think that's fine.

That's because the controls in these games make the worlds fun to get around in, unlike the GTA games, where even running is a chore.

Yeah, that is what it is. I'm excited to levitate, climb and zip about. And the controls just become such second nature. ARGH, so excited.

inFamous took everything I loved from Crackdown and turned it up to 11. The only thing missing for me was the fact that you could play multiplayer co-op on Crackdown which would be AWESOME for the inFamous series.

Plus games that go for complete realism doesn't necessarily make for the most fun games to play. For atmosphere, exploration, and living city, GTA wins (at least the ones not set in Liberty City. Sorry but New York is boring for GTA for me). For actual gameplay, GTA doesn't come close to inFamous for me.

I agree, although this world certainly looks pretty well realised. I'm excited it's in their hometown, to allow them to get all those wonderful details. But Rockstar just gets some stunning living-details in their worlds. A real 'je ne sais quoi'.

I agree co-op would be so, so cool though. Dunno how it would integrate into the story, if at all?

Oh I totally agree, don't get me wrong. I don't want guns or cars to be usable as I don't see a point in this style of game. I was just wondering what "in-game" excuse they'll use this time.

Meh. Don't care if you've made similar comments about xbox games, at the end of the day your reason for not buying a game is still silly. It's your opinion, sure, I'm just telling you your opinion sucks (in this instance). ;)
I'll give you one hundred dollars to find me saying I wouldn't buy this game. I'm a bigger Sony fanboy than you, it's just some of us like to be critical of the things we like the most.

I know. He just meant the game felt pretty smooth. That probably means the FPS are locked and there's a nice motion blur implemented.

FWIW: these are 100% realtime screens from gameplay. But don't take my word for it, go watch the e3 gameplay reveal.

Looks great but man, that guy looks like a douchebag.

I will laugh if we get a scene like "he melts things he touches". Then he proceeds to hug his brother or something.

Probably just that Delsin seems to love the fact he has powers and doesn't want to use guns and cars instead. Driving in open world games is always obnoxious and tedious. Keep that shit out of inFamous.

There's something wrong when a third party open world game have a greater detail respect a first party game. What's wrong ? O__O

Not saying it IS 30fps, but looking very smooth doesn't mean it isn't.

regarding the framerate, Eurogamer had this to say with what they saw at E3

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-hands-on-with-playstation-4

The frame-rate is very consistent too, and there's no obvious pop-in on the horizon when bounding across rooftops. 30FPS may be the target, but it's easy to believe the game's running at double that given how travel and effects-heavy explosions scarcely drop frames - a testament to just how much visual fluidity is improved by operating at a locked frame-rate.

You aren't going to see inFamous level action, explosions, or destruction in The Division, I assure you.

Yeah, there's something wrong when a game that is designed to be on PC as well as consoles has better visuals when running on what was most likely a heavy duty PC than that first party game that is only being developed on a new console spec which had its spec changed after this build was developed. Yeah something really wrong here.

Actually, that looks better than any game from anybody. We don't know when it is coming out, and Ubisoft has a history of downgrading their games by release. So, no, there isn't something wrong.

That's kind of the idea. He is over confident with his powers. He's been sidelined his whole life by his brother who is far more successful than him. Then Deslin gets these powers and suddenly, he feels he can do anything.

I look at these screens and I think this is Sucker Punch's first game on PS4. Their FIRST game and its being dev'd to a rushed, likley 10-14 month development schedule.

I remember how InFamous 1 looked on PS3, and then I look at InFamous 2 and the incredible jump in fidelity there.

I think if InFamous SS looks this good now... :-O

Nothing? Can they not just be different teams with different approaches and different priorities? Does either of these games not look like a significant jump over current gen offerings?

Do you even know if they are similar size studios? Being 1st party doesn't guarantee any magical benefits in development over third parties.

Digital foundry states that the division was running on ps4 hardware. Where is the truth ?

yeah yeah i know, and i suppose the budget for both games is different too...

I disliked the story in 2 a great deal largely because
everything you do becomes pointless in the last 10 minutes of the game.

The game looks awesome so far as far as visuals/gameplay goes, here's to hoping the story isn't balls this time.

It never ceases to amaze me the insane particle effects going on in this game. Particles are just coming out of every orifice every millisecond in inFamous: Second Son.

Indeed. The explosions, the smoke, the sparks flying off his fiery chain-whip, the flakes of smoldering ash when he turns into a cloud of black smoke, the explosion of bits of paper when he blows up a trashcan. This game is beautiful in motion.

Looks great but man, that guy looks like a douchebag.

Then almost every male in the 20's fit that profile, to me it looks like someone you would encounter on the streets.
The clothing style, beanie and all looks believable and your average joe to me.
In a good way that is...

Looks nice. Although Sucker Punch never really got the most out of the ps3 for Infamous 1 and 2. Don't really expect them to with the PS4.

I'm taking all hands on deck full production. I'm not including time for concepting and preproduction. Launch game development schedules are often so rushed. Hence them being rather rough around the edges in comparison the often cited "second phase" of next-gen software.

Would be nice to have interiors on some places with the PS4 game

I thought infamous 2 was amazing, but I missed being able to go inside some building/stores etc (understandable given the detail of the world running on PS3)

so true , no cars, unless cutscene.
i mean if i could freely move like delsin or cole ( Dat ice launch or litghning theter ) , why would i use a car anymore ?

Why does the monorail go into a building? Also, where are all the pedestrians?

It's under martial law , some zones are tighly controlled , it would be safe to assume that unless something happen ( you changing things ), there would be zone with no pedestrians at all ,

I wonder if we will see a gfx jump the likes of InFamous to InFamous 2 in this upcoming generation, I mean this looks absolutely stunning for an open-world game already, but I'm ready to get completely overblown.

I'll be very surprised if the game actually looks like this. I have my doubts.

It will on PC.

Wait for ND's first game or SSM's real game.
