Anyone else think that infamous second son is the best looking next gen exclusive?

Tell that to the crysis 1 particle mod that had gaf splooging all over a while back

I can't speak to that because I wasn't here. Maybe having a trillion sparks in an FPS doesn't look as cluttered and busy as in a fighter?

Either way, it just looks distracting in KI. I imagine they're going for an updated version of the sparks that would fly off in the earlier games when two fireballs hit each other. But in those games, it was maybe a dozen or so. Now it's enough to block out the sun.

Obviously this is next gen and they want to show off loads and loads of particle effects. But just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Deep down if its real but yeah I think ISS looks the best, both graphically and as a game I would want to play:

Although I don't think Killer Instinct is the best looking title graphically, you really have to see it in motion running at 1080p and 60fps before judging, that's what all the impressions say at least, the game is a sight to behold in motion

KI_zpseef722ce.gif

I don't know, visually I think the game looks like a mess, the particle effects in particular are too in your face and I think they could be distracting in a match.

Yeah but there's a difference between not caring for a character design and feeling actively put off by the character. If I'm playing an action/adventure game like Infamous I need to have some kind of connection with the player character. I need to be rooting for them. If I can't stand them then I just don't feel any motivation to play the game.

Maybe if I had way more time to play games I would pick up games without this requirement but I don't so I'm very picky. And I am not saying I need to be playing as some goody two-shoes, hot-looking golden boy. If they're flawed characters then that's cool but just not someone I think is a really annoying, douche. Does that make sense?
That does actually, thanks.

My list would go:

Infamous SS
Witcher 3
Killzone
Deep Down (whenever this gets an official name)
Quantum Break
Battlefield (Maybe but not so sure yet)
The Order 1866
The Division

Everything else just still "looks" good but doesn't seem next-gen.

I'd say the pop-up/in, draw distance, and texture problems disqualify Infamous for now.

I too say Killzone and Forza 5.

(Exclusives wise)

Where is all that blood coming from? If you look closely, when he hits him, the blood just fly out of his back. MK did a better job of at least showing actual damage to your opponent when you hit him, like their clothes would get messed up and you can see the holes where they were stabbed and the blood squirted out the wound. This just look ridiculous. It's like they just turned up the blood but it doesn't clearly show where its coming from.

If I wasn't already getting a PS4 day one, I'd definitely get it when Infamous comes out. Game looks better to me than most anything else that's been shown and it's open world.

I'm going to go with Ryse.

I had a chance to actually play it, and it looks so gorgeous in motion on a TV. It plays well too.

Infamous does look good though, I'm definitely getting that, but I don't think it looks the best.

Most of what's been shown of Second Son looks great, but the explosions look incredibly weak. This was also the case for both previous Infamous games, but they stand out even more in Second Son since everything else looks so good. I really hope the explosion effects get an upgrade before release.

It looks pretty but if the past games are any indication it will be boring and repetitive so the 'shiny polish' will ultimately not mean much.

For my money The Witcher 3 is the best looking overall game. But since it's not an exclusive I guess it doesn't qualify for your little competition.
Just noticing this but I mean non cross gen, my bad for not being clear.

Goddamn yes it is. It looks incredible in motion.

And as far as actual next-gen games go, it's definitely looking like the most fun to play by far.

Certainly one of the best looking sure. Fact it looks as good as it does for an open world game is what's crazier. I mean, it out graphically performs most of the linear next gen titles out there. With dynamic lighting and shadowing to boot. I won't reserve final judgement yet, but it's definitely up there.

Comments like this make me think people only paid attention to the cool little ending of the demo.

The demo had trees, textures, and entire structures not loading.

Granted, it should be smoothed out by launch. It wasn't the top performer of the show. Not once you got up on buildings.

There are other gifs from the demo with textures and guard towers appearing from nowhere.

There's a reason why it's not a day one launch game, but for everything InFamous Second Son is doing, it clearly beats out a linear Racer, a brown poor texture filled Zombie game, and a fighter full of sparks with weak stage areas.

Damn dude, what's wrong with your gif?

Key word...Demo. It was barely playable at E3 and isn't coming out until 2014. While other games like KI and Forza are coming out at launch, of course it wasn't the best, but for a non-linear title, it is next gen.

Nothing wrong with it. It's slowed down to show the trees and textures weren't loading properly (I would assume)

It's from the HD feed actually.

Well, that was the point of the post ;). Going by what we've seen I wouldn't pick it as the best looking. The above may change completely by launch (most likely will). The pop-in and glitches I saw at E3 are why I wouldn't pick it. Just showing why.

Killzone for example, looked more technically sound.

It's not a launch title either. It's out early 2014.

Plenty of time to perfect this gem. :)

Oh God not this again. With your low quality, super slowed down, magnifying glass level critiques. Generally if you have to slow your GIF's down and have arrows pointing to certain things to prove a point, they're not big things to begin with.

I think most next gen games suffered from minor issues like this, including pop in, weak textures here and there, limited filtering etc. I assume most of these (not just for InFamous), will get sorted before release, but even barring that the flaws are few and far between and very hard to spot unless you're really looking for them.

Here's GIF's of the game running normally.

Particle effects don't make a game look better, just busier.

And lighting doesn't make a game look better, just brighter? lol

First of all, I didn't say KI was the best looking game, all I said is you have to see it in motion before judging it's technical prowess, and impressive and worthy of next gen it is.

IMO the most next gen looking game Period is The Division, everything about The Division screams next gen.

It's kinda easy to have impressive graphics on such a small scale as a fighting game with a total of two rendered characters. InFamous is open world and not at all comparable.

This is a valid argument. However I have yet to see a playable build of Infamous, better yet one with ore than 2 or 3 people on the screen at one time.

I don't see where your lighting comment rebuts anything I said, but okay...

And I agree that The Division looks fantastic, but 1) The title of the thread clearly says "exclusive," and 2) Ubisoft has a history of over-promising and under-delivering. So I'll hold off judgement.

Ryse? I don't even think it's the best looking exclusive on its own platform, much less of all the next-gen games we've seen. But I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that.

Knack looks fucking awesome and its from cerny.

That schtick is tired. Get a new one.

Love how the back of his body lights up when the flames ignite.

Looks like a little bit better Tekken with AA

Anyway, am I an outsider for finding none of the new games great?
Could it be because im a PC gamer? But to nominate one, Id say Witcher 3 had incredible shit. Division too.
Deep Down looked incredible, dunno if Ingame material.

EDIT: Is division on PC too?

I'm surprised Destiny isn't getting much love if I'm honest. Admittedly, while some textures were a little off and some of the grass looked pretty bad, I thought the lighting was really good, considering the scope of the game - not sure if it can be categorised as open world but one of the devs did highlight that over the cliff would be fully explorable, so I think the 'maps' will be quite large in scope.

I'm sure that the game will improve before shipping, and hence it gets my vote because it ticks all my personal boxes. The art style, sublime lighting (those shadows that are cast when the ghost is floating around), just really appeal to me.

I wish I could say the same for the division - I just cant trust the quality of any ubisoft showing until one of their games ends up looking like how it was portrayed in the trailer.

Second son does look decent though, its just destiny ticks all my subjective preference boxes.
