Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Japanese games are very flat.

More of an observation than an opinion i suppose.

Strange, because I would say the exact opposite.

Japanese games are the only games that still put out uniquness and originality. American games are just more guns, more gore, more cars, and Madden. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

I agree, yet those game are called casual and Call of Duty, Halo, andBattlefield are called hardcore

I know there's a lotta hate for FPS's, and while I'm more of a quirky Japanese game guy myself.

I gotta defend Battlefield.

It's the definitive FPS that goes beyond point and click.

The people who praise Sony and bash Nintendo are the biggest hypocrites because Sony copies Nintendo so much that they are pretty much buying Nintendo products with different coats of paint and different name branding.

Microsoft is a better gaming hardware maker than Sony because they at least have some originality, which shocked me because Microsoft built its empire on knock offs.

Everything in the PS4 lineup is just more of the same stuff you got on the PS3 with a little bit more sheen.

Killzone was never a good game in any iteration. It is an always will we be the pale imitation of Halo for Sony hardware that it was originally promoted as on the PS2.

GDDR5 is worthless as system memory or anything other than graphics like it was built to be used for.

Microsoft and Nintendo are the only companies releasing console that offer more than just what you got last time with more polygons and lighting. This has been Sony's trend 3 gens running.

I know this is an opinion thread and all but this is just downright trolling.

What does it lack in your opinion to be a masterpiece?

So you think it is a masterpiece? Each to their own, I guess. It's far from a masterpiece, the combat is nothing but the same as uncharted "Remain in the area, eliminate the enemies until you can move to the next area" rinse and repeat... They added a crafting system, which is, well a crafting system. The story is kinda good, since I like post apocalyptic stuff and I liked the way they pull it out. But that's it. It's like a movie with some boring gameplay elements..... THERE I said it.

This is one of the most unconvincing things I've read today. What do they copy, the games? Nope, no Mario or Zelda on PS, they're pretty unique stuff. While the actual hardware shouldn't even matter, I have to add that PS3 is not a Wii, PS4 is not a Wii U. Vita is more like all the smartphones around there rather than the 3DS. I have no idea how you came to this conclusion.

e: lmao no wait, read the rest of your post. def trolling lol

Need me to pull out the launch games for Move, Playstation Allstars(they included Smash Brothers in their Youtube tags to try to draw hits back at its e3), or maybe Sony adding adding a screen to their PS4 controller, maybe Vita console connectivity?

I am far from being alone in seeing this.

The Wii and Wii U are two of the worst (relevant) systems of all time. Wii didnt deserve its success, and I cant say im sad to see Wii U do so poorly.

The Last of Us is truly the best example of storytelling in video game history.

This current gen will be looked back at as the best gen ever when we let it all settle in.

It's an overused phrase but... you played it wrong. Combat has nothing to do with Uncharted. At all.

Oh Yeah I played it wrong.... Guess I was playing another game! Geez.... Oh and by the way, I know it is a survival, but the core shooting mechanics are actually the same. They added that "hostage" thing that is USELESS as shit too! Woopty doo

Okay...Here goes post number 1.

  • The reason I believe the 3DS is less compelling than the Vita is because the only thing it mostly has are JRPGs
[*]I like Sony more than MS because MS never came into the industry to be a competitor to Sony, but to push MS agenda
[*]I love Nintendo, do not like *Some* Nintendo fans because some are constantly always in denial
[*]I never like Uncharted the way I felt it was suppose to be loved. However TLOU eclips it 100 times over
[*]I think mobile gaming is a scam and excuse for publishers to be cheap.

Go ahead. I don't think Sony was ever praised because of Move. Your point was that if if you bash Nintendo and praise Sony, you're a hypocrite. And now you're bringing up stuff that nobody ever praised about Sony.

Also the next controller doesn't have a screen and also.. Whatever, Vita connectivity is... Uh, bad? Are you saying that Vita is copying Wii U and it's controller?

I should have been more clear.

The land and the area of japanese games, for this generation, has been very flat.

Maybe it's because i have watched too many monster hunter clones.

So the only thing you was able to prove was that when it comes to controller design...it is the only thing Sony copied besides making an identical video game that is completely different than it's.

1. ) That seems like the reason most people bought a Vita (along with PS1 releases)

2. ) What MS agenda?

1. ) That seems like the reason most people bought a Vita (along with PS1 releases)

2. ) What MS agenda?

1) For the Vita, I feel like it bring a different type of gaming experience. Sure they are indies and stuff but it always gave me the type of game I like to play. It's the reason why i dont like the 3DS so much. I almost absolutely hate JRPGS. I just hate them. And when someone goes on to talk about what 3DS games are the greatest that aren't Nintendo's own franchises, they are all JRPGs..Like ugh, is there anything else besides JRPGs? I hate Fire emblem, I hate SMTIV, I hate Soul hackers, I hate EO..like. Anything else besides jrpgs? The Vita has just as much jrpgs, but it has other games that appeal to me as well.

2) Media. MS is a software company and they want to push services on people. They weren't really concerned about gaming in the first place...but used it as their trojan horse to push what they really wanted to give customers. The console market was the best because it is essentially the easiest way into the living room. I can't say that what they did- did not benefit the gaming industry because they did. they've impacted the industry in a good way, but it also turns things for the worst all at the same time. I don't think we would have half the things on our consoles today if it weren't for MS, but MS still has other fishes it wants to fry and they are using gamers to do that.

:)

PCs are simply not designed for games. There's far too many hardware and software configurations for anybody to test against, inevitably leading to glitchy games. I abandoned serious PC gaming when HL Episode 1 started crashing every 30 minutes, and no amount of re-installing or updating drivers would fix it. Just now my PC had a major angst attack whilst trying to update Flash.
Gaming on a PC is like entering an F1 race in a van powered by rocket engines. Sure, you'll burn past everyone on the straights, but good luck in the corners.

Obviously there's an element of facetiousness in this post, but I generally game on console for the simple convenience of it.

PC's are not designed around games. Gaming on PC is not as simple as gaming on consoles. No one I think will argue against that.

Terrible gaming systems is GROSSLY exaggerating and I would say at the worst one could call them "hit or miss" gaming systems.

But, even with the downsides, you have a ton of tremendous upsides that make the actual gaming experience a better one which aren't possible on consoles. PC's aren't as straightforward as gaming systems but they without a doubt have/often meet potential to be much, much better. When not running into over-zealous bugs of lacking feature, I think it's undeniable that PC is without a doubt better.

Does an opinion warrant a elaboration? I don't agree with him but it is HIS opinion.

Pretty much all of this.

I won't play a game if it doesn't look nice, even if the gameplay is fantastic. I'm not necessarily talking about graphics or polycount, more esthetics. If it's not fun to look at, I won't waste my time.

And that's pretty much the most important part which will always insure they dominate the market here in the US. I remember hearing this in a documentary about food I think its very true: "Americans don't fear terrorism, Americans greatest fear is being inconvenienced". I think all of that is very true for both the US and certain parts of the western world. I have zero interest in dealing with drivers, hardware configurations, and the various other pitfalls to run games on max settings; couple that with the fact that often times PC versions of console games don't come day and date with their console brethren and that's pretty much enough for me to stay away from PC gaming. Not to mention I don't want to be on the hook for the hardware if something breaks; its much easier just to send it back to the manufacture and be done with it.

Hell as consoles become more and more like PCs I can't think of too many advantages they have anymore that don't revolve around graphics, mods, free online network infrastructure, and getting indie games faster.

There is no place in gaming for on-line play and that shit needs to be taken out as soon as possible. It just caters to the lowest level of gamers there are.

That's awful. I don't have any friends in real life to play games with, I play with just my online friends when it comes to multiplayer. :/

To say there is no place for it and then immediately follow that up with saying that it caters to a certain demographics is completely contradictory.

Some of my most memorable gaming experiences were with online games. Everquest, Quake, Counterstrike, Minecraft, Unreal, Chivalry and a bunch more. Met some assholes, met some great people, met some of the most skilled players I've ever seen, and I learned a great deal through all of it.

Bolting on an online feature to a game that doesn't really need it? That needs to go.

Mine is the opposite of this. I hope one day every game includes online interaction in some way as to me it only adds to the longevity of a game. Developers just need to get more creative with it than typical deathmatch modes.

Another bad idea. I myself like playing plats alone and think JRPG's like SMT 4 should be one player only online would make it less fun to me.

I love hardcore games and I love classic RPGs.

and I'm sorry, but I really fucking love Bioware and especially Bethesda games. Fallout 3, ME2, Jade Empire and KOTOR1 are four of my favorite games of the first decade.

I understand all the criticisms and agree with MANY of them, but I think the anti-behavior is really hyperbole and follow the leader behavior. Just my opinion and again, I'm sure I'm so fucking wrong, but it would be nice to read a Bethesda thread without "SKYRIM IS A PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT" in 3 out of 4 replies.
