I think it's childish that people would say their favorite system being the best as fact and not opinion.
Like really people...
Yes I agree. I wasn't even trying to say PS2 was objectively better because saying shit like that is just pathetic. I, personally, liked PS2 better.
Play over streaming tech is all bullshit, all of it. Gaikai, Nvidia Shield, Vita remote play, all useless and pointless. Why spend 40 years of videogames shooting for stable framerates, lag free control then throw it all away and chase a physics defying dream no one asked for? IDGI at all.

Microsoft entering the game console industry was the worst thing to ever happen to this hobby.
Alright...gotta get this off my chest....
Zelda games ARE NOT rehashes of the previous games. You can't tell me, with a straight face, that Zelda games recycle ideas, but bullshit like Call of Duty, doesn't. Of course, it makes perfect sense for every Zelda game to share the same fundamental mechanics.
Um...
- I don't have a problem with the linearity of modern shooters. The old "collect a bunch of random keys in this maze" level design was convoluted and stupid to me. It was nice playing through all of Bioshock Infinite without getting lost.

Zelda games ARE NOT rehashes of the previous games. You can't tell me, with a straight face, that Zelda games recycle ideas, but bullshit like Call of Duty, doesn't. Of course, it makes perfect sense for every Zelda game to share the same fundamental mechanics. You play as a young boy, with a green hat, who accumulates a bunch of items, solves puzzles and kills monsters in various dungeons. Paying homage is different than just blatantly copying something. Every single game, yes, even the 3D ones have several nuances, that set them each apart. This trend of talking shit about Zelda didn't really get much volume until THAT game was released. Yes...you know...Twilight fucking Princess.
Honestly, if you like Twilight Princess, you have bad taste and don't know what makes a good Zelda game. Alright, it is a good game. A great game in fact, but it's an awful Zelda game. It has no soul or identity whatsoever. It is truly, the only game in the franchise that almost completely relies on all the others to define it. It merely exist, only because of the out cry from Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. People didn't like MM because of the time limit, the lack of dungeons, it was too hard and just so bizarre. No one expected the successor to OoT to end up how MM did. It goes without saying why people didn't like WW, which is utter bullshit. I can understand people not liking the sailing bits, but hating on the cel shading just seems so petty. It's a fantastic entry in the series. The controls are nearly perfect, the puzzles are clever, the music is memorable (who can forget the dynamic tunes during combat) there are places to actually, you know, explore and WW features what is arguably the best iteration of Ganondorf in the entire series. It references OoT quite a bit, but without trying to be like it. Sure, there could be more dungeons and the Triforce hunting was annoying, but WW is in no way a bad game.
Midna and Zant are the only redeeming qualities of TP, up until the point where Zant goes ape shit and you realize he isn't the main antagonist. Link is a dope, and mostly ignored by the other characters, Zelda is dull as hell and Ganondorf is not menacing at all. The story tries too hard to be self serious and dark. Majora's Mask did it much better, both overtly and subtly. But for the game itself, it just isn't all that interesting or fun to look at. Everything is brown or piss yellow. Hyrule Field is a barren wasteland. All of the dungeons shamefully attempt to steal from OoT, but don't do anything better at all. You acquire a shit load of items that you hardly use. Plus, there is little sense of urgency or build up. Like literally, you never get the sense that things are going from bad to worse. You never get the sense that you are getting stronger and that with every dungeon you leave, you are one step closer at saving the world. Even visually...Link never appears to look stronger or look like he's progressed. Besides your hearts, there is little obvious indication that Link has upgraded anything since you first started the game. From the mood, to Link's regalia to your very thoughts on the fate of Hyrule, all is underwhelming and never fully developed. Everything in that game is a half hearted, sophomoric effort to emulate the grandeur that is Ocarina of Time. But all you get is a flat, rip off of a game. Nintendo only made it because people bitched to no end that the two previous major releases were too much of a departure from what Zelda should be. Goes to show you what the fuck those people know.
Needless to say, I hate Twilight Princess...
To the Moon is the best written video game ever.
Deadly Premonition being the runner up.
State your "controversial" gaming opinion here, members of GAF: opinion that you personally held close at heart but at odds against the majority of video game enthusiasts here in GAF or at large.
However, please be careful not to venture into trolling territory pleaseAnd remember, do not herald your own personal opinion as the absolute truth that others must abide to or else.
I'll start:
I consider myself as a huge fan of Legend of Zelda series, and I have played almost all the games available in the series. However, for the life of me I cannot bring myself to like Majora's Mask, a game that I see many fans of Legend of Zelda herald as the best in the series. I personally thought the Ocarina of Time was and still is the more superior version, and Skyward Sword is a vastly, vastly superior game compared to it.
Its game structure is unique, I'll give it that, but for the life of me I just cannot bring myself to enjoy it. Generally speaking I just don't like to be rushed when playing my video game: I like playing games that let me complete it at my own pace (which is why I like most RPGs, I suppose)
So what is your "controversial" gaming opinion, GAF?
No, Zelda games are rehashes. Call of Duty, well, I'm pretty sure Activision has just kept releasing the exact same game for the last decade. People still eat it up. It defies logic.
To the Moon is the best written video game ever.
Deadly Premonition being the runner up.
I wish the people behind Madden this generation would just die already. Or find new careers. Whichever comes first......

Here is one for me I hold close to my heart.
Indie designers, with their attitudes towards gamers and the industry, solidify everything that is wrong with game development. I have no hesitance in saying that they have made gaming an incredibly less exciting medium to be a part in.
Uncharted 1 has a better story than Uncharted 2.
Uncharted 1 is still the best Uncharted.
Skies of Arcadia is the greatest ever RPG.
I find the Bombcast to be an utterly awful listen.

People only playing shooters (or only one genre for that matter, but shooters in paticular) don't know what videogames are.
Either Sony or Microsoft should drop out of the console business. Preferably Microsoft. Both offers are way too similar so fanboys warz are hilarious. Shifting strategies to offer a third way to look at things instead of dropping out would be ok too.
People buying every Assassin's Creed and/or CoD every year at full price and then complaining that genuinely insteresting, original games are too expensive and "will wait for a price drop" are the bane of existence.
AC and CoD being considered hardcore is hilarious. They're casual as hell, more than games actually considered casual.
"If you like x, you have bad taste" . . . "x is good a game, a great game"
This thread is so stupid lol
