It's a big thing for kendrick to tell others to pick up their game but at best it's friendly. It'd be another thing for someone new to put themselves in the same line as nas/jay/em/andre and be good enough for the rappers who were called out to take notice. As much as I want to see this go somewhere, it probably wont and kendrick being the one to put it out is one of the reasons I'd imagine why.

No doubt its friendly. What constitutes as "new" for you? An up and comer with a couple mixtapes under his belt? Like I said previously, only Kendrick could get this reaction. He has proven that he's capable of being at the top with GKMC and surprised everyone with the success of the album. And this isn't a diss to other rappers and their skill.

Why he got beef with Elvis though. Early Elvis is pretty fucking hot and was the entire blueprint for The Beatles. Mac Miller def had the best response here. It's a call to arms like a friendly namecheck to all of the people Kendrick considers peers. It's guys he has love for. Some of those guys are lucky to even be mentioned.
