Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

I didn't know Helldivers was also coming to Vita, even though I watched the conference. Dead Nation meets Chronicles of Riddick/Starship Troopers. I dig it. http://youtu.be/Y6C_gxlDpPE

top of the page buy:
Dragon's Crown (duh)
LittleBigPlanet Vita
Guacamelee & Mutant Blobs for $7.34 & $2.00 on PS+
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken
Quell Memento
Shock Troopers for PSP

Easily Marvel.

SFxT isn't bad, but Marvel is absolutely gorgeous looking, plays better on the Vita (4 button game instead of six( and doesn't have that dumb gem stuff.

Oh shit, Marvel is only 4 buttons? I bought it anyway because I just wanted to complete my fighter collection but now I think I should try it out

So amazing that NA PS+ game is Darkstalkers
that's some epic, professional level trolling by SCEA
. By process of elimination, how many more PSP fighting games are needed for a complete set?

Not much left. We still have Mortal Kombat Unchained, Power Stone Collection, and Dragonball Evolution I believe.

....

Power Stone is looking likely I'd say :-p

In other words, things nobody want or care.

... :(

Yup! The shoulder buttons are used, but for assists. Not nearly as intensive as having heavy punch/kick on there or something. Works well.

Getting Capcom games I don't even want makes me wish for Cannon Spike or a new one. Would be so good now since it predated the twin-stick shooter consensus.

Europe right?

I'm so bummed we still can't play em in the US. Can someone tweet @yosp asking why the hell we can't play Crash nor Spyro on Vita?

Yup, bought in Australia, so Europe PSN I guess. Though funnily enough the games seem to be the American versions, based on the opening graphics and aspect ratio (as opposed to the Crash games which all still have the "Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Presents" at the beginning).

Isn't it because Activision holds publishing rights to the games in the US but not the EU?

Kinda surprised that there was no footage and very little mention of Tearaway and KZM.

There was some footage of Tearaway.

I haven't played Borderlands. But it is from 2K. And 2K has Bioshock. And Levine wants to publish Bioshock. So if it is not a shitty port (and I'm glad Gearbox is not developing it because i have nearly zero confidence in them after the Alien debacle) I will probably buy it. I hope it comes with the DLCs. A good open word game, with lots of contents and RPG elements is something that I could love.

I don't get those people pointing to BL2 as another late port. The important point was not to get it early; the important point was to evade Pitchford.

Nope, Sony knows what Vita owners want, hence yawners like Murasaki Baby (hello, Escape Plan) and Big Fest are given center stage treatment.

Big Fest is totally worth taking a stab at. You never know whether something like that might blow up. The conference seemed to put out mixed signals on whether real bands were involved.
http://www.vg247.com/2013/08/20/music-festival-creator-big-fest-announced-by-sony/
Perhaps it's a mix of bands. Anyway, it won't become a thing unless the implementation is really good. And we don't know that yet. The trailer did nothing to impress me.

So with Helldivers on its way, has anyone heard of when Dead Nation (another top-down shooter) is making its way to Vita?

I know they announced it at E3, but since then, nothing.

They will just say it has no games they want. You'll never win. Just ignore the haters.

I made the argument to someone that I had played over 55 games on my Vita and platinumed 17 of them within a year's time yesterday.

Someone else chimed in with another list of games that they loved on Vita.

People responded by automatically dismissing ports and just considering the "exclusives" when talking about "Vita has no games". You're right... we'll never win.

I'm so fucking pissed there wasn't anything about new memory card sizes announced.
Here I am with a 32gb card. Killzone is coming, that's 3.3gb. I have a decent games I can't even fit on my card at the moment that I'd like to restore (SFxT, Blazblue, etc.) and I can't even fit 450mb Muramasa. Plus I plan on buying Dragon's Crown this week most likely...

I'm so sick of juggling... but even for $45 or whatever, I'm not going to deal with swapping 2 32gb cards. They're so tiny I'd probably lose one... and even if I didn't, trying to recoup my money to purchase a bigger card, should SCE ever bless us with one will be a longshot.

Isn't it because Activision holds publishing rights to the games in the US but not the EU?

It's not like they're not on the store... or playable on PSP... or playable on PS3.
It's just SCEA's affinity for blowing dead bears when it comes to legacy support (read: PSOne/PSP availability on Vita).

Random thought:
BL2 Vita should have been GOTY edition including all 6 characters and all the content from the Season Pass!

Had to comment on that ionca character, by the way. I've been pretty vocal about my distaste for this "indie revolution" (seriously, shit's getting crowded and memory sticks need to be dirt cheap for these digital-only games to succeed), but to make it personal like that...disgusting. Hope it's a perma <3

And I had just taken ionca off of Ignore, just because he was quoted a few times in a row while not being derpy. Then he starts talking about shitty games, and it's all downhill. Hmm, maybe needs a Snickers bar to get back to hiz normal self?

Oh snap dat #JRPGVita, I wonder what he's actually got?

Gimme PSO2, Shahid.

I hope this feedback is making its way over to new JRPG in production too.

I got him in the second dungeon. Teddie is like are you sure Sensei?! I was like sure who cares about Death, I'm bad ass.

...

...

I died in one turn.

Same thing here. I lasted 2 or 3 turns. Must have been overlevelled.

Is there no free game coming today for PS+ members?

NA+ is getting ZP2: Star Wars Pinball and Dark Stalkers.
But SCEA has not updated the PC store yet. The old IGC games are still there instead.
They also have not put in the sale items yet, although they did take down the old sale items.
---[Actually, JP Sale items are available under specific listing for that. Nothing listed for sale under All Deals.]---
I guess they were busy watching the EU conference, then went to sleep.

At least now we know why MS likes to go first at conferences.

Did Denny say yesterday that all 14 studios of SCE are working on the PS4, or did i hear wrong?

I think he did.

I would love to go all digital someday, but it is still a pain in the ass. Even a 32 gig wouldn't really be enough for me. I'm resigned to just buy everything that has a physical release as such, and save my memory card for the digital only/psp/ps1 games I want.

Of course, for something like Rayman for under $7, I had to bite even if it is digital.

RE: fighting games. I'm really hoping that we get P4A on vita if a new retail version comes out.

Shahid did say that they are setting up a team to do localizations of Japanese games. That was around the time he asked on Twitter what jrpgs we wanted on the vita. We haven't seen anything announced yet in this regard so no doubt, there will be more titles for the vita.

So what are the odds of DW8:XL getting localized? Huge DW fan but I've about reached my limit of what I can do with Dynasty Warriors Next.

For custom skinning my Vita, which ones of the following is the best looking GAF?

Also, any other recommendation of perhaps any cool pic I can use? :D

Shahid never said this. It was our famous insider who did.

In any case, I have high hopes for this initiative. Hopefully it'll get us some nice JRPGs.

Well Gamescon was a disappointment if you were waiting for some AAA games announcement (Like me).
I'm not into any of the indie titles shown, the only Vita indie title I own is Stealth Inc, and I'm not sure it qualifies to be an indie title.
The only indie titles I've enjoyed so far are on my PC (FTL & Gunpoint) and they're not being ported.

We're approaching the last quarter of 2013 and no big announcements were made for 2014.

For the stuff they've announced:
Price cut - hopefully it will push some units, but if potential buyers are looking for AAA games, I don't think the price drop will make a difference.
Memory price cut - Awesome, but need the actual prices
Borderlands 2 - Didn't like it too much on my PC
Murasuki Baby - Looks like escape plan style gameplay.
Big Fest - Hopefully it'll be like Theme Park or something similar.

So I'm one of those guys who feels that there are not a lot of games on the vita, because for me there aren't.
For now, the future doesn't look very promising for the Vita if you are not into Indie style games.

Just messed around with DoA5+ all evening, game seems incredibly incompatible with pad, or I'm just too spoiled by stick.
