New Zelda Wind Waker HD videos

Well then, GameXplain just tweeted that the real-time clock will not be there. In the GC version, the real-time clock thing allowed the stars/sky to change depending on the day and time. It was awesome!

Pre-order cancelled. :P

Wait, was this an automatic feature or did you have to activate it?

I still can't make my mind up about PH and, to a lesser extent, ST. They're like some crazy zelda optical illusion. Look at them from a certain angle and they are super fun and charming. Slightly change your viewpoint and they are steaming piles of dogshit.

I think I might have a more charitable viewpoint if they weren't direct sequels to one of my favorite games.
I think that, visually, they're pretty ugly (Spirit Tracks less so. Mostly in terms of dungeon design with that camera angle and the low walls.

In terms of story, Phantom Hourglass was an enjoyable but forgettable side story (though it shares a lot in common with LA). Spirit Tracks was disappointing as a sequel only in that it skipped ahead to long after Link and Tetra found New Hyrule. As a stand alone game though, I have to say that Spirit Tracks is amongst the best. Several elements come together (the narrative, the characters, the world, the music) to create an incredibly charming journey. Princess Zelda in ST is by far the best incarnation of her.

The only issue that might have some weight with ST is the overworld. I found the train to be an engaging and challenging mini game, but it could be slow. If you die you have to make the whole trip again. The only train part I recall taking too long for me was the first one in the forest. Oh yeah, and the flute sucked. The dungeons and bosses were fine.

Kinda freaking out over how amazing this looks

Yeah the train part sucks, and is just no fun at all if you're going all over trying to get 100%. It just seems to me like they didn't playtest it. There should be some mainquest or sidequest item that gives you a train engine that will smash through the evil trains and give you a speed boost or something. The teleportation spots were worthless, because you could only ride it to a particular place and they are almost never convenient to get to.

I love the dungeons in spirit tracks though. I think it also has the best balanced and fully utilized item selection of any zelda title. I love the instrument too, although I know some people were frustrated by it.

Reflecting some more on Phantom Hourglass, I think the enjoyment of this title hinges on how laid back people are willing to let themselves be. To some extent, this is just

but if you allow yourself to be charmed by the fact that it's a handheld game and not an epic Zelda console adventure, one can have a lot more fun, even if the dungeons aren't very challenging, the bosses very memorable, or the world very wide.

But it suuuuuckkkksssss

I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass a decent amount outside of the Temple of the Ocean King. I thought Linebeck was a great character that many people forget about.

Spirit Tracks was a bigger disappointment as the train sections were incredibly grueling and had little redeeming value.

Yeah, the purists are being a bit too particular here. The game definitely looks better with the bloom. Unfortunately, they haven't done much else.

Good to see Nintendo offering the option to minimize the HUD. Complains seem to be reaching them some what, which is good.
Rupees and keys? Yes, but I think hearts should still remain on the screen.
The heart counter could be brought up every time the character gets hit, then hide it. Besides all Zelda games have the alarm sound when the counter gets low so there's a big failsafe there already.
The bloom really is out of hand. There are more instances where it looks bad than where it looks good.
After getting used to it you wont care much about it. This is the most brought up but less valid complain about the game i think.

Overexaggeration/trolling aside, I thought PH had some charm to it (plus, can't go wrong with playing as a baby Goron). The overly bland dungeons and the weak overworld put a huge damper on the game, though. As an overall package, it wasn't the sequel I wanted.

Granted, it's not trying to be ambitious or anything, but Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda and it lacked its magic imo.

Haven't played Spirit Tracks yet, so I can't give a proper opinion on it.

I remember being super impressed by PH because of the tech that possibly went in it, when it came out and I played it on my DS, I thought it did such a good job of emulating the WW artstyle to the point that I think its only downported from the gamecube engine, I also believed it to be one of the best looking DS games for the time, and when they got on the ocean I was also blown away, maybe I was underestimating the DS back then but I wwas really impressed with it on a technical level.

Skyward Sword already let you do that. Completely gets rid of the same item binds and only leaves the hearts and rupees(+keys) up there. It only lets you do this after the introductory part is over, though (right before you leave Skyloft).

The good thing to take away here is that they realized people really want the screen to be as clean as possible so they're continuing to provide that option and didn't just leave it as is since WW doesn't have a huge Wii condom on screen at all times like the SS HUD until you can disable it.

True, but that ISNT A BIG DEAL when the game is 10 years old dude.

I hope this bombs hard.

Nintendo deserves the failure for putting such little work into this and overcharging so much for it.

Such little effort?

Fixing the biggest complain people had about this game, AND THEN SOME, qualifies as little effort? Most HD remasters don't put the kind of effort that's into this one.

The chance of this game bombing seems pretty low to me since its getting bundled and its just a remaster so Nintendo should have no problem making their money back.

You forgot about the conversation we had about the HUD in one of the other threads. Pointed out about the option been in SS also. I know is hard to keep track of every interchange and screen name so no problems XD

Even with the minimal HUD option in SS we had to swallow the cluttered one when fying around. On the other hand in WW HD the minimal HUD is preserved even when sailing, so in that sense is an improvement. ANd it seems the option is now part of "the design document" for Zelda games so thank god for that!

Just stop, it's ridiculous. Even if it's a joke post, it's not funny.

My head hurts. Where am I? I didn't do my homework, can I go play outside anyway?

Browsing through this thread in noticing one very good thing about the resolution increase. And that is that people are noticing now a miriad of tiny details that were in the original game but might have glaced over. There was a lot of care and attention to detail in the amount of things affected by the wind. So something like the tiny particles of a fairy fountain or the dust from Link's boots blowing in the wind's direction we'll be more apparent now.

I just replayed both intro sequences in TP and SS. I really really really want HD remasters of those two with the same care put into it as WWHD. So amazing

I'd definitely buy TP, SS I'm not so sure about. A little too recent at this point IMO.

Now the Metroid Prime games... In a heartbeat, especially the first one.

Everything is just so CLEAR en beautiful now ! Like playing a completely new game just genius. Just looking at the footage, I keep noticing new details, cant wait to play it for the second time.

Stahp pls.

Also, I hope there's a boss rush type thing somewhere in this game. :P
What's kinda funny for me about the inclusion of boss rush modes is Zelda... There was a Nin-game survey I filled out for registering a Zelda game a loooong time ago, and I remember saying they should include a mode where "we only fight the bosses"(before there was such a mode). Wouldn't ya know it a couple years later, "boss rush mode". Now I'm not saying I had anything to do with this, but I am saying it was an interesting coincidence for me. Lol like they pay any attention to those game surveys anyways :3

They do.

Can someone make a gif of a scene in the baba bud hopping video? I need that shit for the next-gen particle thread ;). Thanks!

Here's a little comparison image I made from a 1080p shot of the HD version and a Dolphin shot of the same area. Here it's very, very obvious that the new one attempts to mimic claymation, while the old one goes for a more toon style. It's different in a good way, both look amazing.
