Wow some of these comments. Do you really think MS was trying to ruin your hobby?
If you directly compare their old and I stress old policies to Steam do you not see the improvements they were trying to make compared to that service?
Yes there were 24 hour check-ins but that was only required so that you could have more rights with your digital content (gifting, game share, resaling digital games, disc free playback, etc...)
I just don't get the vitrol I'm seeing lately. They reversed everything months ago.
I honestly prefer XBOX 180
Xb1 is technically XBoneXB1 or XBO
Xbone sounds stupid.
XB1 or XBO
Xbone sounds stupid.
I just call it the XBO.
I didn't know people were offended by what I and many others call the Xbox One. It's an inanimate object, it has no feelings, why do you care about whether I call it Xbone or not? If anything, the fact it bothers you so much it'll make me continue to want to use the nickname.
When and where did this PR stuff happen?I don't care whether it's disrespectful.
Disrespectful is trying to sneak in extreme DRM and steal our ability to buy and sell games second hand. Disrespectful is telling us that if we happen to live or work outside the regions where MS deigns to activate games we should just buy a 360. Disrespectful is expecting everyone to forget these things ever happened when public opinion finally forces you to back down. Disrespectful is having PR goons come to feed us utter garbage about system specs and then have a huff when people call them on it.
If anything, the name isn't disrespectful enough.
Its only 1/360 more powerful then the Xbox 360.I'll just call it the 361.
That's probably the biggest issue I have with them now.
Gamers aren't as naive as 10 years ago.
MS appears to be letting Marketing people take over. I say cut that Marketing budget next round and focus more on building the best technology. Superior tech speaks for itself, as evidenced by Sony's latest creation.
When and where did this PR stuff happen?
Also great post, it's nice to see the higher ups explicitly acknowledge this sort of bullshit rather than be willfully ignorant for the sake of being "unbiased".
X1 is the only correct abbreviation
I just call it the XBO.
I just call it the XBO.
I meant the PR coming on here and lying to our faces, sorry for not being clearer on that.We have a product for people with zero internet access, it's called the 360 - Sorry for the shitty annotations, first video that popped up.
Only 5 countries will have voice commands at launch - along with other various restricted countries and dropped launch areas
and so on and so forth. it's not hard to find.
I just call it the XBO.
The name is meant to be disrespectful, a constant reminder to MS and anyone else that tries to pull the shit they tried to pull. I'm glad they aren't happy with the name.
I meant the PR coming on here and lying to our faces.
Major Nelson called the Xbone moniker disrespectful.
one mans lie is another man's truth
Nah shitting on your consumers, lying, trying to take away our selling rights, shoving Kinect down our throats, money hatting exclusives, forcing online DRM and not giving value to your non-US Gold subscribers is disrespectful.
The Xbone name is here to stay Larry.
GIFSoupwhy u let them tho
That they are biased. That isn't true 100% of the time with "Xbone" but it almost always is with "M$". When somebody uses "M$", you can completely disregard whatever they had to say.
If you honestly feel "disrespected" over a consumer product, you need to adjust your priorities. Microsoft didn't come to your house and slap you in the face, they are trying to offer a product that they feel you will buy and would benefit their bottom line the most. There was enough uproar to make them change their minds, that's it. The resulting marketing/PR is par for the course for any company.
Some things are just lies though. And I'm glad people called him out on his factual bullshit.
