You're probably right about that. Though I guess the default Vincent outfit might be a bit out-of-bounds for her with the claw + boots. I guess the TurkVincent outfit would be more tasteful.

You see... now THAT's something I can support. While they are different on a very basic level, they do stand in as a similar archetype of a party member. A Vincent outfit would actually make sense on her.
 
I thought it was a cool idea. But I also knew it would create the usual stir from the usual suspects and I was not mistaken.

P.S I must say the new core 4 of SE have more energy than almost any studio right now.

Toriyama is basically playing dress up until FFXV comes out. And we are getting a Lightning costume for that game too aren't we?

I don't mind the costumes if the tone of the story from trailers doesn't seem so serious all the time. If they want to go full wacky I'd support that but the dissonance is hard to stomach.

I'll actually buy the game if they include a Cait Sith costume. Actually, I can honestly see a Barrett costume coming to go with that new chest upgrade she just got.

But cameo costumes in a Tales of games don't feel typical of the character or fit the character in whatever Tales of game that has them at all. Like in Xillia, none of the cameos make sense or fit the character, especially the pre-order ones for Milla and Jude. I don't think they should either though since its a cameo costume and not really supposed to make sense or be logical in any way but I don't understand this reasoning that they should fit the character either.
 
They should really have a cameo costume from all female FF characters for this game. That would be cool, even if DLC. I know I would buy at least some of those. @_@

You mean the scattered people on these type of message boards or the Japanese fans who are far more vocal about their love for her? Believe me, SE knows their fanbase well enough. They just are too focused on their home front than for us western audiences.

I reiterate: what's the fucking problem. The amount of BILE can't be found in threads about any other games on GAF. I really just don't even understand it any more.

It's just a stupid video game. Yay, it's a costume where she looks like a character from a different game. It's like a thread about the Mario costumes in MH4 being full of "fuck you and die, miyamoto" posts. It's a fun little thing, process it and move on with your life. I can not relate to these reactions at all.

Aye, I noticed this while I was playing XIII (and then in the subequent media afterwards). She winds up looking dumb, so when they started sexing her up (or at least trying to) and giving her new outfits it just falls flat. She might as well be a mannequin.

That said, Aeris' outfit looks nice in HD. Same with Cloud's.
 
I'm glad this is being treated like a spin-off and is being marketed as such. If they tried to push LR the same way they did XIII and XIII-2 then I don't know what I would think of SE in all honesty.
 
I can't believe the hate in this thread.

It's a Final Fantasy reference in a Final Fantasy game loaded with Final Fantasy fanservice (non-sexy kind). And it looks good too. It's possibly out of character, but optional costumes in JRPGs aren't normally connected to the canon anyway. I can hardly fathom the hate.

People go way too far to show their internet hatred, or so it seems. The same people complaining about the inclusion of a costume from a final fantasy game in another final fantasy game (yes, what a shock right? Totally out of place) now are probably the ones who are going to buy the game just to say it sucks after playing 10 minutes of it.

If anything, I hope they add things from those games. IE The Cloud costume gives you Omnislash, Aerith gives you Holy or something, Yuna gives you a summon. It'd be neat.

As much as I like Lightning, she doesn't have the body to work Tifa's FFVII outfit. Maybe her AC one because they toned down her breasts for some reason and she isn't all curvy like she used to be.
 
I don't like that these costumes exist... for some reason. But, I do want to play in them.

I mean, seriously, why get upset? We've seen Lightning in exposed thongs and bikinis; we know she's had a breast enlargement; we can dress her in bunny ears, cat ears, have a moogle on her head, etc; she does sexy poses after slaughtering people... this game is fan service for the million or so people who will buy the game. We've known this for a long while. This is honestly a case of "if you don't like it, it honestly wasn't made for you". There's no point in getting mad.

I don't think the cameo costumes are the issue. It's just that it simply feels atypical for the character.

I think that if the Yuna/Aeris costumes were costumes designed for someone like Serah or Vanille, I wouldn't have qualms about it because they'd fit the character.

That would be pretty cool actually. That said I haven't been following the gameplay parts of this game too deep like I have with the story and outfits.
