I can understand the frustration of many that Versus was delayed again again but it's just more than XIII-2 fault.

Even if the other two games never gotten made it wouldn't of made Versus/XV get here any faster. Not only because of the whole FFXIV thing but I think Nomura said the game was just too much for PS3 or something like that. They would've probably just made something else quickly to fill in the gaps of their non-SE Europe lineup.

Exactly, SE just got tremendously cocky and introduced something that was way too ambitious for them. Thus, they had to rush out a half baked sequel and a MMO that ended up costing them millions.

XIII was the scapegoat for all that though. I dislike XIII purely because the world is boring and the characters just aren't as interesting as from the other games. I'll play them, and I might enjoy LR - but I'll be longing for the vibe the classics give.

well as i see it, its more of a "why are they still shoving this down our throats" situation, while FF XIII was poorly received and the hate wasnt that strong then, making these AAA sequels for it and shoving Lightning everywhere with the misguided idea that shes the face of FF, while ignoring other titles is whats making people annoyed.

And lets face it XIII didnt do any favors to the FF ip, it was pratically something to be excited about when a FF was announced, by media and gamers alike, now it just seems the sentiment is "oh, another one" thing

The SquareSoft we once knew and loved is gone.

Fug me if I don't want to go back and experience VIII or VI for the first time all over again, but for better or worst we just have to look forward and hope the best. And it seems like with X/X-2HD, LR, and XV, Final Fantasy will become that game again where everyone will flock too and cherish.

Its amusing that now people are swearing by FFXIV ARR (it is good tho) as the best FF game in forever when just a few years ago it was the worst FF game in forever and people now wondering why Square don't make FFs similar to XIV ARR but single player.

Blame FFXIV. It more or less put the kibosh on a lot of their console development. I honestly don't think we would've gotten two XIII sequels had it not been for that. Still wouldn't of sped up Versus I don't think but they would've probably did something else.

They haven't experienced true burn until the FF series gets outsourced to Ninja Theory and Tameem mocks all of our favorite FFs and say our favorite FF characters suck while both Ninja Theory and Square pretends the older FFs aren't as good as we think and that this new one will be the best shit since slice bread.

At least if you didn't like FFXIII you can look forward to a future entry. Can't say the same for DMC series...

I just have to say since I played the Last Story, I loved the armor dress up/ customization feature and wished it would be done in new FF games. I actually think it's great to see in the new game.

I really couldn't care less about Lightning and FFXIII though. The sooner they're done with her the better.

How can something be delayed when it never had a release date/window/anything to begin with. This concept has never made any sense to me.

Well, Lightning changed her name to forget her past, and Serah was part of all that, so I guess she knows what her sister went through, which leads to her calling her be her "new name". Its a matter of respect I suppose.

The only decent thing about his games are some of the gameplay systems. The characters, dialogue and story tend to range from bad to terrible. I wouldn't exactly call his games "awesome" especially after playing other FFs made by other people besides Toriyama.

Far from me to deny that his game-making ability suffers under certain aspects (although I like some of his stories and characters -I felt I could relate to Lightning's personality, for example-) even if I've really enjoyed his output. But the way him and Lightning seem to annoy you is... funny. I wouldn't want that to just disappear one day.

As a creator, he takes too much from anime and other shounen tropes. The fact that he's basically been in charge of FF for 7 years aside from XIV is enough to be irritated after being disappointed in FF13. Lightning has the personality of a rock, so I don't see how anyone could relate to her, but whatever works for you I guess.

At least XIV: ARR turned out really good - and given that most of the staff on that project are new or worked on games like FF11 and 12... anyone who wants something different should definitely check it out. You won't feel embarrassed by the dialogue at least.
