Here are My Thoughts on my new Wii U

Do any of you guys have tekken tag 2? Been itching for a fighter, and the 20 buck price tag is tempting. How is it?

Get a CC/CCP and enjoy a damn good tekken game. The biggest downfalls are no online lobbies and some missing effects but its still a good game. I own it and play it everyday.

NNID is ThaGuy by the way. I own tekken, pikmin 3, Nintendoland, and some downloadable games like trine 2.

Hahahahahaha.. Get outta here. This is the first time I've seen "Wii U", and "Sold out" in the same sentence together. Keep going Nintendo, you're making strides!

I was pretty surprised, too. I live in a small town, so it's not like I expected them to have many, but I was really taken off guard that everyone near me sold out so damn fast. I bet with Wal-Mart and K-Mart, though, people put them in layaway, though. Dicks.

While the library is disappointing, I do also like the hardware.

Just gotta get the software going and it'll do okay. Still think it gets blown away this gen, but it's still a solid piece of equipment.

I agree, they just need to step it up with the games then it'll still be a great secondary console.

I wish there was more 3DS functionality. It was really cool uploading my Mii from my 3DS to my new Wii U.

It'd be nice to have some sort of gameplay between them, like have the 3DS function as a second Gamepad, or have the eshop games cross over between systems.

Another new Wii U owner who jumped on with the Wind Waker bundle here! I grabbed Zombi U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, and Rayman Legends and will be looking for Nintendo Land on the cheap...

Would love to have some Gaffers (actually, anyone at all, heh) on my friends list. NNID: exmakina

The Gamepad is incredibly comfortable and I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed using off-screen play... especially since the console is hooked up to a TV in my room. There's just something so cool about being able to bring a full-fledged console game wherever you want on such a light, well-made controller. I'm sold on this streaming business when it comes to games.

If Zelda U isn't Four Swords 4, I'll be annoyed.

So I got one today. Well, my brother picked one up for me. A chain in Australia is selling them for 50% off, so I managed to get a basic for $174, which equates to $163 US.

At this point I'm planning on getting NSMB U, Pikmin 3 and W101 along with Earthbound. Any other eShop stuff I should look out for? Do I need to get a CCP?

Toki Tori 2 is a must have if you enjoy puzzle games. If you have wiimotes already, and consider local multiplayer, I'd buy Rayman or Nintendo Land instead of a CCP.

As was said, Toki Tori 2+ is a must.

Also note that you need to differentiate between a Wii Classic Controller Pro and a Wii U Pro Controller. Wii U games generally support only the Wii U Pro Controller most of the time and only rarely does a Wii U game also support the Wii CCPro. Virtual Console is the exception which supports both of them by default for anything. Wii Mode only supports original Wii controllers, none of the Wii U peripherals or features (because Wii Mode is turning straight up into a Wii with all its limitations and features).

At least you didn't have it for launch. It took like a minute to load ZombiU off the internal (read, fastest non-external SSD option) just to get off the splash screen. Eugh.
Still enjoyed the game though, just had to make sure you actually wanted to play it haha.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I had both the Wii U and ZombiU at launch, and wasn't staring at a splash screen for close to 60s.

Thanks, I'll add you up when I grab the game, should be soon. Pretty pumped, haven't played a Tekken since the 2nd or 3rd on psx.

The WiiU really is an outstanding console. The dearth of games definitely made a justified purchase difficult. But, as the games continue to roll through, more will realize that nintendo has definitely created a more Gamcube-esque console, as opposed to a Wii successor.

I think this might be fairly on the ball.

I am not expecting Wii U to enjoy anywhere near the success of the Wii, but I do get this Gamecube vibe from it. Gamecube didnt do well, a lot of people overlooked it entirely and many publishers all but ignored it, but in the end the actual quality of games that were released for it was outstanding. I only own 2 Wii U games, Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 but I enjoyed them far more than anything I have played for quite some time and most of the games I am continuing to look forward to are on Wii U.

Wii U wont set the world on fire in sales but I think there are going to be so many quality releases on it that those who dont pick one up are going to miss out on some seriusly good titles.

Great system.
