Eurogamer: Microsoft has hired Jonathan Ross to work on Xbox

He used to present a program called Japanorama, due to his love of all things Japanese. Guess that doesn't apply to PS4....

Deal with the devil!

lol awsome hope he does and exclusive talk show and invites rusell brand and they leave messages on famous peoples answering machines.

He also did the 3DS presentation in Amsterdam a couple of years ago. Did a great job at that, seemed genuinely knowledge and excited about the product back then.

Yeah Mountain Dew in the UK isn't the same as in the US due to EU regulations. Tastes like crap here to be honest.
There's an American sweet store near me that sells proper Mountain Dew, so much better than the stuff we get in supermarkets.

I also once tried the Mtn Dew 'Amped' energy drink. Tastes like Starburst.

This is fucking great news, going to love his TV spots. Like Clarkson on Forza, Jonathan Ross is a great choice if he's used for TV spots

Love the marketing choices for Xbox so far

Love the Ross. He's a pretty massive Spiderman geek and I love him for the Steve Ditko documentary he made.

That sounds quite coll, never knew that. Know where I might find that documentary?

So, how long til the first joke comparison between the "Xbox Ones Stuttering launch" and Jonathan Ross' stutter?

He doesn't have a stutter, does he? He's got kind of a soft lisp and can't pronounce Rs properly.

He also shares my birthday. Which makes him awesome, but not as awesome as Tom Ellis from Miranda, who also shares my birth *year* as well as birthday.

Just read on Wiki they met when Ross was 26 and she was 16, and married 2 years later. Nothing wrong with that but just found it interesting. Not something you see often.

Hmmm, seems that they put arsenic or something in Mountain Dew over in the US so they're not allowed to sell it here, weird.

it's the brominated vegetable oil, that they can't use in the UK, as I recall. that's what lets them mix oil soluble stuff and water soluble stuff.

as you can see, it's not on the approved additive list in Europe:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brominated_vegetable_oil

there has been a push to remove it from Pepsi Co products, and they're taking it out of Gatorade, but they won't take it out of Mountain Dew, because it isn't remotely the same without it.

the talk of sugar is a smoke screen. they sell Mountain Dew Throwback here in the states made with real sugar, and it tastes like Mountain Dew, but better. the UK version still sucks.

I'll be honest, I had no idea this guy even had a TV show any more. I thought after Friday Night finished he stopped.

Learn something new every day

Matt Hill, a journo, on Twitter says : "Ross consulting on games and entertainment projects, Xbox says"

So I guess more of a creative consultancy gig than promotion.

Maybe local TV stuff for Xbox Live among that, I guess.

I suspect it's more for tv stuff than anything else. He's certainly not going to be involved in making games. Of course hey maybe using the relationship as a back door to his wife?

I really liked his series Japanorama on BBC3, he's pretty legit. I'd much rather have him producing video content than some puppet from IGN.

Really good move by Microsoft.
