I found it very interesting that they had Namco-Bandai helping them out with the games.

Not sure if this is in the Iwata Asks, but thought its worth sharing...

Golf

- Use the GamePad and the TV screen
- Place the GamePad on the floor first, as shown in Wii U’s concept video back at E3 2011
- Ball is shown on the GamePad screen by your feet
- Fairway is on the TV screen
- Play like real golf
- If you face the Wiimote Plus toward the GamePad by your feet, the head of the club appears on screen
- If you twist the Wiimote Plus controller, the club head also turns
- Hit in that position and you can hit a fade and so forth
- Coming “soon”

Baseball

- Swing the Wiimote Plus like a bat
- Pitcher uses the GamePad
- Also similar to the Wii U concept video
- Look into the GamePad and choose a course and type of pitch

Boxing

“For Boxing, we’re considering a lot with regard to network compatibility and so on. I think you’ll have to wait a little longer for that.”

The game looks super fun and I've definitely got my eye on online tennis and bowling!

IIRC, Nintendo tried to buy out Bandai at one point, but the gubment wouldn't let them so they settled with some shares into the company (around 3%). After the merger with Namco, it was reduced to 1.73%
 
Glad they're implementing the gamepad usage shown at e3 2011 for golf, should be awesome. Hope they bring table tennis and frisbee golf from Wii Sports Resort over as well.
 
Looks like they're using the SpotPass auto delivery feature that was included in the most recent update to automatically put Wii Sports Club onto every WiiU that has 1.7 gb free, as well as give everyone a free 24 "pass" to try out both sports. Smart.
 
So it will cost $50 to eventually own all 5 sports? If the online and the deeper mechanics are good, it may well be worth that, but I expect a lot of people to scoff at $10 a sport.

Tennis, Golf, Boxing and Baseball
 
I'm a huge fan of the idea of regional rankings instead of individual ones. I think it's a fantastic idea for bringing in players who don't normally play games online.
 
I'm glad this is actually the title with the Golf + Tablet play. That looked really cool in the original demo. It was one of the things that sold me so well on the console to begin with. I didn't want to wait for that. It also shows they've been working on this for a long time, too. That demo was shown awhile ago. I thought this was just an HD port when I first seen it while we waited for the real Wii Sports to show up. It's shaping up to have a lot of interesting quirks about it.

The automatic installation of this title and the banter system are both pretty genius ideas, too.

Nice every time a new sport is done you get to try it for free, I was worried it would only be for the first two

Free space: To determine how much free space is left on a Wii U console using the Wii U GamePad, open System Settings in the Wii U Menu, select Data Management, and then press Copy/Move/Delete Data.

I believe those who updated their Wii U console the other day received a message upon opening their system again asking if they would like to automatically receive content via SpotPass. If you answered "OK" and have 1.3 gigabytes or more of free space, Wii Sports Club will be delivered automatically.

Downloading automatically is kinda neat. I guess this means that future consoles might just come with the games packaged into the service.

That actually is a clever way to handle all the people that don't want to go to the eShop

A $20 disc would be a good idea, too.

In the Iwata ask they say there were gonna release on disk when it was all done but it was gonna take too long to finish all the sports so they decided to release them separate as digital sports.

So I def expect a retail release once they are all out and prob a bundle

I wouldn't mind a $20 disc.

I just thought it was funny how they're really pushing this on people by having the icon magically show up on their homescreen.

"Wii Sports Club? What? No way! Where did this come from?"

Smart move.
 
Wii U golf sounds really interesting and fun now with the combined use of the gamepad.

Nintendo better promote the heck out of this.

EAD has a part in it as well. It is said to be a collaboration, since many people were passionate about the game.

Iwata Asks explains that someone from Namco pitched an idea of how to implement online with tennis(since it uses gyros and what not).

Seems like Namco will be helping Nintendo in the online department. Smash Bros should be good this time, hopefully.
 
I'm more excited after reading this. I thought it was just going to be an enhanced port but it sounds more like re-imagining since they're completely redoing certain sports.

Also pushing it to people's Wii U is a good idea.

It'd cause a lot of confusion if they had a $20 disk with two titles and then have the rest of the titles coming out over the next half of a year as DLC. I think it would cause a lot of casual players to be unaware of those extra games even existing.

Imagine if Nintendo actually succeeded in purchasing Bandai.
Well either Nintendo would have larger control of Japan or Bandai would fade to a myth.
