Buy rechargeable batteries. Have one pair charging while you play with the other. When it dies out, charge those and switch to the pair that you've been charging for the past god knows how long.
This should last you for quite a while. (if you don't already have rechargables). And that was just a few minutes of searching. I'm sure you could find cheaper.

Yeah it really is the best way. I just leave most controllers just plug up to a long cable. Some reason i always thought i would get better gaming performance with a wired vs rf/blutooth.

This man speaks the truth. I MUCH prefer just swapping out my eneloops when the power gets low rather than tethering myself to the tiny PS3 cable that was provided every single time I turned the PS3 on because the battery would lose it's charge.
On average I get 4 to 5 hours on my DS4. I think that light is killing the battery.
As others mentioned it's just using the IR light kinect blasts out anyway but FYI there is an IR out port on the console for an external blaster afaik

There's a difference between having your battery die in a $500+ dollar device and a $50 controller. I've never even heard of anyone complain about Apple's built-in batteries and nearly everyone I know has an iphone or ipad.
How often do you hear of a charging port that doesn't work? My guess is the number falls somewhere around 5% of all Xbox/Playstation consumers, and that's a generous estimate.
In that scenario you're going to probably replace the controller instead of wasting money on batteries. It makes sense for instant gratification but not in the long run. Personally I think Microsoft should have thrown a play and charge kit in the box but that's just me I guess.
How hard is it to remember to plug in a controller when you're done using it? That's the epitome of laziness.

I think both systems are pretty even. PS4 has the advantage of being able to simply plug the controller in to charge after using, Xbone has the advantage of always being able to swap in fresh batteries when they drain (and as a flashoholic I always have plenty of charged Eneloops on hand) for uninterrupted, untethered gaming.
Same here. I bet they could double or triple the battery life if they just killed the light. But whatever.

You know, I wondered why I bought two DS4s at launch but I been using them as one charging while I played with the other. The battery is usually around 6 to 7 hours for me.
Visually it's the best looking Console OS ever.
I just wish your preferred color would go for every icon, like Skype and IE.
Is the PS4 cord longer than the PS3 one? That was my only real gripe with it, I was too closely tethered.
No. The light is about the same power draw as the LED on the DS3.

Yeah it's not that big of a deal but I found it odd that Microsoft is still using batteries in a "next generation" console. It won't affect my enjoyment of the X1 but still is worth talking about.
I get 10-12 hours. You may want to cash in your warranty chips.

Finally made the decision to go all digital with the XB1. It's going to save me lots of $$$ in the long run due to customs duty and shipping fees. Will likely only get physical copies of LE/CEs I really want.

I'm not sure what you want me to say, I provided a real scenario. I also find it quite remarkable you've never heard of anyone complain of Apple's built-in battery, as nearly every Android user I know says that is one of the biggest reasons they avoid the iOS platform.
Having a rechargeable battery makes it exactly like the DS4, except that battery can be quite easily replaced. I just cannot find an issue with that at all.
EDIT: I want to be clear, I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm just not seeing an argument for having an internal battery instead of a choice between rechargeable and not rechargeable. I suppose it could allow for the controller to be smaller, but that could throw off the ergonomics of an already great controller.

I was in the PS4 hardware issue thread and other people were having issues also. My PS4 works fine so maybe I will call Sony and see what they can do for me. Anyways, back to the Xbox ONE.

I have had 2 Dual Shock 3 controllers end up with a dead battery, which is not easy to replace. I always prefer a removal battery in case of issues.
I didn't mean to be dismissive but it seemed like the last few battery threads turned into something else.
