Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

Except only one of them is actually true. CoD does offer pointer controls. ZombiU only supports Wiimote aiming in multiplayer for one player and neither Mass Effect or Deus Ex offer anything other than GamePad or Pro Controller support.

..aaaand calling ZombiU an FPS is either wrong or a stretch at best.

Further research indicates this is called Warawara Plaza, and I am trying to figure out how to turn it off, lol. I changed Miiverse access in parental controls to viewing and posting restricted, but the plaza and Miis still show up.

The Warawara Plaza and Miis will always show up. The Settings take a long time to quit from because the entire system is rebooting.

Warawara Plaza is the best. My 16 month old cheers every time we boot up the Plaza because she loves the Miis so much.

Not even Mass Effect 3?

That´s terrible. Pointer aiming is great.

I wish there was pointer aiming in Deus Ex. I could just put the gamepad on the stand on a table in front of me, while playing the game with the wiimote.

Im playing without assist aiming, and its very very hard. Like... feels kinda broken

I was planning on getting a PS4 at launch next week, but I went for this instead:

€300, 2 games. Also ordered a Zelda 3DS xl bundle, should have that monday. You win this round, Nintendo.

Doesn't look like any good deals are out there based on that website. I saw a post saying Ebay was doing a "Wii-U Bundle" for $249, but it didn't go into any specifics.

That site is mostly definitive as far as the super hot sales. You can wait to see what Amazon does too(maybe Cyber Monday)

Are there any other Wii-U Black Friday bundles/sales besides the Best Buy one? The one there isn't that great of a deal if you ask me. I don't really need extra wiimotes.

Starting tomorrow at Target, when you get the Mario and Luigi Bundle, you get a $25 gift card. If you have the red card, you can get 5% off the cost of the system as well. It's from the 24th to the 27th I believe.

Nintendo really needs this bundle out on Black Friday in the states. Such a good deal.

Hmm, yeah might be wise to just wait.

Hmm, that's not a bad deal with the $25 gift card. But was hoping for something a bit better. Thanks, though. :)

eBay is doing a bundle for $250 on December 2nd.

Yeah, I heard about that, but... I'm not sure what bundle it is or what the specifics are yet.

I must have been drunk or something lol.. I thought first person games on wiiU not first person with Wii Remote.

Not a prob. I'm still salty over the fact I missed out on the buy.com $250 deal, since my money came in a day after the deal ended.

If you have a meijers near you, you can perhaps take advantage of their Black Friday deal, which is the best of the bunch. Too bad I don't live near one. :(

That's a really good deal but...sadly, closest one is like 10+hour drive from me, lol. Damn. Will they have that deal online? I guess not, eh?

I tried holding a Wii U Pro controller as I consider getting it. It felt great in my hands but it seemed to also feel low quality and real plasticy. Does it come with a built in battery? Because it was really light-weight as well. :/

If you are in Canada, you can currently get the Nintendoland bundle or SMBU bundle for $250 (Shoppers Drug Mart or Walmart respectively). There is really no excuse to sit on the fence now.

Yes, and it has a 40+ hour charge.

It does. And it lasts fucking forever. Easily 60+ hours.

You chose wisely.

We have it. I bought it this week. If anything, Nintendo should start selling the Mario+Luigi games at retail on one disc.

Damn, Walmart sold out online of the NSMB bundle. I would get Zelda, but I have an unnatural affinity for boxed games.

So if I get a Wii-U Mario/Luigi Bundle soon, would the following games be a good starting point?:

Super Mario 3D World
Wind Waker HD
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101

I think I'd be able to afford those + the system. I'm thinking about trying to get RE: Revelations as well since I haven't played that yet, and the Wii-U version looks like the best one.

It would be a perfect starting point. Revelations, off-screen gameplay apart, is basically the same though

It's a great pad. Insane battery life as well. I bought mine over 3 months ago, charged it when I got it, played 35+hours with it since, and the battery indicator is still 2/4 bars. It's my favourite "current-gen" pad by far, but I haven't had a proper go with a PS4/Bone pad yet, so can't compare to those.

Yep, great choices. Other games also worth checking out are ZombiU, Deus Ex, Monster Hunter, Lego City, Sonic Racing and probably others I forget lol.

I've never played a Pikmin game, so I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy it. Based on the videos I've seen, it looks interesting, but I don't know much about it. Is it easy to get into and have fun?

Ahh, I see. Well, I think having the off-screen play would be pretty cool for Revelations. :)

I've used it 2-3 hours a day playing COD, and haven't had to recharge it for about a month. I also lent one to my nephew when I went to work away over a month ago, and he's used it quite a bit and he still hasn't had to recharge it, battery life on pro controller is insane.

Will the Pro controller work with Zombi U and Ass Creed 3? Those are the only games I have so far besides the Wii ___ games.

And which Nintendo games support it? NSMB? ? Pikmin 3? Wind Waker? 3D World?

Thinking about buying Rayman Legends and Earthbound during december. Any toher recommendations? When it comes to indie I have everything on other plattforms.

I would say it is pretty much the perfect starting point. I would also LCU to that list (but only if you are not bored by lego gameplay), it has maybe the best story and the greatest final mission.

As for Pikmin 3, it's very easy to pick up and the story is done in such a way to help you with that (without being to much handholding). Just pay attention to the messages, as sometime you can miss important info (like the lock-on and charging mechanism and the dodge).

well SM3DW, NSMBU and NSLU if you like platformers. Sonic Lost World is also pretty good unlike what people are saying.

For that JRPG itch I would recommend Monster Hunter although its not your average JRPG

sounds like a splendid plan to me. so much goodness

Oh yeah, I thought about LCU, but... I've never played any of the Lego games, so I wasn't sure how good it would be. I have heard nice things about it, though. Might check it out depending on price.

That's really good to hear about Pikmin 3 - just watching videos, there's a lot going on at once, but as long as they introduce stuff to you, I'll be fine. :P

LCU is the first lego game i bought since the original lego starwars.

I think its a really good game indeed! Its basically Lego GTA!

Lego City is amazing. Even if you aren't a fan of the normal Lego games, this one stands completely on its own.
Great writing and setting and a lot of fun.

Well, it goes on my list then! xD

The other games may take priority over it if I can't afford to get all of those. lol

I don't even like playing other lego games. After LCU I tried playing Lego Batman 2 and I abandoned it after 30 minutes. If you like 90s movies (like Shawshank Redemption ) there are a lot of references to many of them. And as I said the story is really interesting with twists and turns and surprising final missions. I think you can find it cheap.

I haven't played Mario 3D World yet but Lego City Undercover was the best game on the system till I got Deus Ex HR. City was more fufilling than Pikmin 3 for me. Epic and hilarious game.

Bit Trip: Runner 2 is pretty good if you dont have it as well as Mighty Switch Force 1&2. Also Trine 2

All those Nintendo games support it. Although NSMB might only be in multiplayer, I forget. ZombiU is only multiplayer (too many gamepad functions for sp). Ass Creed = no, according to this list of games.

*Edit:
I'm wrong, as others have pointed out, Ass Creed *does* support the WiiU pro controller!

Just got my Wii U last night and I'm loving the hell out of it! Is there a thread where people are adding eadh other as friends?

I need some friends on this thing :)

NNID: INCITEMAYBE

what games do you have? Only online one I have currently is MH3U

I'm hopefully picking up the Mario/Luigi pack tomorrow. Target is giving a $25 gift card in their ad, which I'll promptly put toward Mario 3D World.

On Super Mario 3D World, what controller can the second player use when doing local co-op? Can you just use a wiimote? Or do you have to have one of those Pro controllers?
