No. I forgot to mention I ordered and reserved the system the night before and noticed if you ordered online you got a $50 gift card that is used towards the system. When I picked up the system after work today I qualified for another $50 gift card. Score!
Solid game. Good effort from Criterion on the port. Get ready to crash every 5 seconds when you first start playing it, takes a while to get used to the controls, but that doesn't mean they are bad. If you like pressure sensitive triggers to accelerate you can map the acceleration to rhe right analogue stick to have the same effect. Fun game, specially if your Wii U friends have it too. It is really fun to try to break their records, and I absolutely love to smash those billboards! It is the definitive version of the game, since it didn't receive the DLC that puts cars on the streets and doesn't allow you to drive them until you pay. Which makes no sense in the context of the game ("if you see a car you can drive it").
I crashed my Camaro a lot within the first half hour of MWU, so I can vouch for this. Very fun and solid game, nonetheless.
Huge disappointment to me. No multiplayer modes and you can't even shift manually. Next time they can make a game where you don't need to steer, just gas and brake. Personally, to me this was 60 waisted. Tried to sell it the day after i bought it, but even when taking a 20 loss, as good as new... nobody wanted it, lol. Can't blame 'm.
I was able to walk in and get the last M + L bundle today on saturday at best buy. They even honored the black friday bundle with nintendoland and an extra wii motion plus for an additional 20.

Yeah... but you're doing about 4 updates at the same time, so while you still have to wait as long as on launch day, you are basically downloading/installing a couple of updates at once. Had this been at launch-day-speed, it would have taken 2 hours
Picked up a 250 dollar Zelda Bundle at Target today and unfortunately no, the update takes awhile. Seems to be running fine thereafter though. Also picked up NSMBU and 3D World. Will grab Pikmin when it's on sale. Feels good to own a console with some games to play. Whoooot.

Boy a lot of people must have got Wii Us over these last few days. I was in Target today and they were all sold out of Wii Us...but they had a few of PS4 and Xbones though.

There's a rental store in town that basically has every worthwhile wii u game except wonderful 101. I might stop by there tomorrow. I think NSMBU, NSLU, and nintendoland will be more than enough for awhile.

Then they wouldn't be able to sell any software, and I assume that's how they'd make at least somewhat of a profit.
Also at my store, they had quite a few wind waker bundles. And one or two of the original deluxes. The first guy I asked for said they didn't have any, but I asked another on my way out, and the last M + L bundle was near the front of the store. Lucky me.

Because it's the current killer app that just came out, they won't bundle it until at least mid 2014.

It seems like these $250 deals are really getting people to buy these systems up, at least in the wake of the holidays.
It'll be interesting to see the numbers. Right price point for the bundles (at specific retailers, but still) and a potential killer app in Mario may have really helped give the Wii U a much needed boost. Sustainable? Perhaps not but it's nice to see people taking advantage of the available deals.

bundles mean nintendo loses out on individual 3D world sales, if they were making mario kart numbers with 3D world,they could afford to take that hit.

I have a rather (hopefully) simplistic question:
On the front of the WiiU there are two lights, a white one on top indicating a disc is in the system and a red one below over the power button. I can't recall, but I believe I put the system into "standby" mode when initially setting it up....wouldn't the red light be orange or something other than red if this was the case?

It will turn yellow every few hours to check for downloads, then go back to red most of the time.
To see it, start a demo downloading in the e shop, then turn off the console.
The red light will remain red when its off, but it will turn orange periodically when it is checking for spotpass updates. Mine does it several times a day.

When you're first downloading the updates, can you do it without being plugged into a TV by using the Gamepad? I have bandwidth limits where I live, so I'm hoping I can download them at the library without needing to bring a monitor and AV/HDMI cable. (I'm super hyped about being able to play without a TV!)
Hmmm so has Amazon never sold bundles themselves? I have a bunch of Amazon credit since my PS4 was defective and I bought locally to replace and only have Amazon credit back.... But the $320 deal at Best Buy is great for a Wii U Mario/Luigi bundle + Nintendoland + Mario or Luigi wii remote.

Well Mario was the reason I picked up the thing. I also picked up nintendo land and wii u party.
Tonight uh me and my friends got the bright idea of turning Wii U Party into a drinking game. I will say as mid 30 year olds... this is the drunkest most of us have gotton in a long long while. Might of not been are smartest idea.
That said, I'm looking to snag Monster Hunter and Zombi U. Do people still play Monster Hunter regularly online? Kinda afraid of not seeing many newbies in it.

percent but sometimes has some weird read issues as well. Read thru some random forum posts after googling and it seemed to be an issue with some launch systems having some laser problems, so probably back to Best Buy for me soon for a replacement.

If you synchronize the gamepad before, yes, you can use the Wii U without a tv/screen.

I just started playing online(with my 3ds save file) and saw that there were a lot of rooms for every rank(I saw at least around 500 players), I'm sure you can get some Gaffers to play with you, I'll be around if you need help with a quest.

Well, im enjoying it a lot.
No technical faults whatsoever. The game plays perfectly.
Great map on the gamepad screen, a few touch screen menus that work flawlessly...
AND if you are ready to ditch the map, there´s Off Tv play for that time when the rest of your house needs the tv. Im playing a good chunck of the game using Off Tv Play, and its great.
Only thing i could ask out of it is Wiimote controls. But they will NEVER make a patch for this.
Apparently it's pretty damn good. Some even say they prefer it over the PC version. It's definitely miles above 360 and PS3 versions. The game itself is great too. One of my favorite games of 2011.
Best version you could be playing on a console (visually) and gameplay wise on any platform. Co-driver mode is a genius addition and adds a pseudo-local co-op mode to a series that hasn't had local multiplayer in ages. The gameplay tweaks (all cars already available but finding their locations in the world is still worth doing, plus secret cars) are also really smart. Absolutely worth it.

Like others said, red light means it's off/standby. Orange light indicates that it's checking for internet stuff, like on all Nintendo devices. You can set the interval it checks for spotpass data in the settings. I have it set to hourly because why not. It will auto download system updates, game updates and, if you selected to opt-in to automatic software downloads, it will also download demos and free software (like Wii Sports Club or Wii Karaoke U) to your system without you having to do anything.
Best version of the game you could be playing. The Director's Cut was made FOR Wii U, after all.
You only ever need the TV when you FIRST turn on your Wii U so it can sync the GamePad to the TV. After that, you'll never need a TV again (unless you're playing a two screen game of course^^).

I'm not a Club Nintendo pro but I think you register using the serial number or something like that.
