A long while. There is also a desert locale and they're about to add a forest one.
But Snow was added pretty early, did you only play the early beta?

yeah i was in the beta from the start. played it a bit when the final release came out though. might jump back into it to see some of the new levels. it got really repetitive.

some amazing details up there, i'd love to grab some good screens to post here but FRAPS makes everything blurry. What are you guys using?

Fraps doesn't make anything blurry as long as you're capturing as a PNG file.

That's either your game or some other thing going wrong. Fraps definitely isn't at fault if it's set to PNG.

Edit: Here's an example of a shot taken with Fraps.

Definitely no blur.

then I'm lost here. Here's a screen from AC4 I just took, I swear Blackbeard's face looks way sharper on my monitor

or maybe I'm expecting too much?

What size is your monitor?

That's a really small screenshot. But looking at it, that seems totally perfectly normal in terms of sharpness of a screenshot.

Most of the shots in this thread are using absurd amounts of downsampling which add's a lot of detail and is likely why you feel your screenshots aren't as comparable.

For example, the screenshot I embedded in my previous post was rendered at 4k and downsampled to 1080p, which is fairly common for this thread.

22", 1680x1050 max res. I would love to bet a bigger one but don't have enough space

thanks for the nice explanation about downsampling and 4k, at least now I know why i cant compete, hehe

If your GPU is capable, you could probably try rendering at 2520x1620 which is 1.5x your resolution.

As long as you already have some AA on it (Injecting SMAA is a good option) then the downsampling should be great for clearing up any left over aliasing that's in it and you can have some fairly sharp 1680x1050 screenshots to share in the thread.

good advice. I'll fiddle with the settings a bit and hopefully post some good ones. cheers mate

Might you have some sharpness on your monitor settings? Or maybe it's in a " cinematic" mode?

Also, objects in motion don't always look the same when you can focus on them as stills.

Does anyone know if fraps captures txaa?

I got an old Syncmaster, no settings besides resolution and 60hz refresh rate

I get the appeal of having unique screenshots, or being the first person to post a particular game, or to find a camera hack for a game that people havent found yet etc...but never sharing your settings does just seem a bit dickish. Ive gotten a few PMs about my skyrim settings and ive replied to all of them with my mod list/settings etc.

Being unique and exclusive. I can totally understand that.

Is there some prize or award for being unique and exclusive? I don't understand the point. Certainly not when you intend to impress people and just wind up pissing them off instead.

Why do anything remotely interesting in the modding scene if you can't\won't share it with anyone? That defeats the purpose.

This tends to come up a lot when he posts Skyrim screenshots. I feel like Unreal does this because he gets some twisted enjoyment out of people asking him for his mods and then not giving it to them.

One of the best stealth FPS ever made, so many good memories! For the times it was released it had a great IA, a smart level design, a profusion of great humour with brilliant dialogues and a nice storyline. Always hoping in a third episode.

Oh and and someone rip me that goddamn beautiful DOF and put that in a prepass file kthxbye

Not sure sure if it is completely the same but try Skyrimtuner's DOF pack files and try the auto focus one

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mod.../ajax/moddescription/?id=30936&preview=&pUp=1

That looks fantastic -- what mods & ENB are you using for that?

Same as above . i am using Realvision ENB with all the mods on his page (At least those that have links )

Also check his video's out they are amazing !
I am running option C full for fantasy and his auto focus DOF from his files .

Just a warning . as you can see by the FPS with all the settings on my 660 is getting tortured by it even at 1080.

Why would someone not share their settings and tweaks?

Isn't he the guy working on a custom ENB/lighting mod by his lonesome that he will release when he finally finishes it? It's not a case of someone selfishly hoarding their custom settings, it is a modder trying to get things just right before he releases it to the public.

And if he were not releasing it, well, it is his work for his own enjoyment. You can call it selfish all you want but he put the effort into it and if he doesn't want to release it that is his right.

No . that is confidence man you're thinking of .

As for the argument . if he chooses to not release his ENB then that is his right .
He built it himself so he can choose what he does with it .

If someone is doing shaders and injectors from scratch then i understand if he would not want to release his stuff, unfinished or not. If it's just some config tweaking for some mod downloaded from nexus then i don't see no harm in sending the conf ie. pastebin link.

I won't release something unfinished, that's all.

But i don't need to release something i do for myself and i don't need to finish it when you want.

My reply for all the questions is always the same, i answer with my blog's post about Skyrim mods and almost everything is answered there.

But people always want the same mods i used for each screenshot i post and i won't make a mod list for almost every screenshot/set of screenshots.

Dat DOF is just.. wow.

Please share it!!

Gp65cj04's prepass file.

Giving some hints ie. what was used is always nice if someone wants them but I don't think people need complete lists of mod stacks, that's true. These things are also pretty easy to learn and set up after all and most of the work is already done. Getting those cool looking pics framed is the hard part. Keep 'em coming
