Overhauling tree textures, tripling their size, and adding wind animations to them has had a massive impact on the visual quality of the game. ENB helps too.

My first down sample test shots starting low at 2560x1440 nice solid frame rate so far.

Crysis 3 with all settings still maxed.

Once i find my top res to down sample from i'll try and find some more arty defined shots in games.

Small tip : put these commands in the console .

r_drawnearfov 2
hud_hide 1

It will get rid of the weapon and the hud.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Will give them a try now, think enough Crysis screen shots for tonight, need to find some other games to try...

Raising the bar for PC games, though? I'm all for it! I can always use higher res textures .

This.

It's pretty abysmal how inconsistent texture quality is on PC these days. It quite infuriates me.

Especially when you look at texture mods for Fallout or Skyrim or Crysis 2 and see how much of a better job amateurs can do.

r_Sharpening 0
r_ChromaticAberration 0
r_HDRGrainAmount 0

Nuke the grossness. You can also turn off lens flare in the graphics settings. You lose the flair from light sources, but it gets rid of the smudgy/fingerprint screen filters too.

Chromatic aberration outside of contextual effects in Crysis 3 looks like balls and should be nuked from orbit.

If you guys really wanna crunch Crysis 3 in outdoor areas, use console commands to increase shadow and foliage rendering distance beyond vanilla ultra.

Well that's my FNV ENB. Sometimes I wish I could go back into it and improve it. But I got bored of the fallout looks... I need something more fresh and improved like Fallout 4. :p

Arent those locked?

Btw, i've actually made those shots as an experiment to see how lowest settings looks like in bullshot IQ and was mind-blown with the results.
When i'll get new GPU, i'll definitely replay C3 on Medium/High with bullshot IQ. Should be glorious :)

Nope. Default ultras are:

e_MergedMeshesInstanceDist 8 (distance grass animates)
e_MergedMeshesViewDistRatio 40 (distance of interactive grass)
e_ViewDistRatio 100 (object rendering distance)
e_ViewDistRatioVegetation 100 (vegetation rendering distance)
e_ViewDistRatioDetail 100 (detail rendering distance)

You can bump these all over maximum to essentially negate all that optimised level of detail scaling and pop-in. You can also tweak shadow rendering distance and resolution above standard ultra too.

I noticed it working in that shot I took ages ago for the PC bullshot thread, similar to your shot. Even on maximum settings the grass further away has downscaled shadow/detail quality than the closer grass. Bugging the variables above maximum lead to more accurate and realistic shadow cascading across distant grass, distant grass full 3D physics-based quality, and so on. If at a hefty performance cost.

I experimented with it a little in SDK a while ago, just thought its locked in C3.

I actually found out that the most performance bottleneck i had with LoD changes when i rendered thousands of grass straws. With i suppose can be related to draw calls and CPU bottlenecks because of DX driver.

Good to know for talking nice shots though :)

>_>

CA is an abomination.

I will seriously refuse to play any game that features CA unless it's incredibly subtle like NFS:Rivals or is able to be disabled. I

A worthy cost.

Turning of LoDs and altering the shadow rendering lods and distances even in Crysis 1 results in an amazing experience

And these are more recent.

This 1440p monitor is actually a crap downsampler and kills my desire to take screenshots altogether. Blah =\

Thats why i cant wait for small 4k monitors. They will have native downsampling if run in 4k and good IQ in 1080p, because of linear scaling.
Its perfect for both worlds, great IQ in 1080p for demanding games and bullshot IQ in older titles.

I like the ME3 shots!
That would be a travesty...come back to 1080p.
...

It was mostly for the excitement of being able to go beyond 4K in some games that you otherwise can not. I blame Sethos for not telling me you actually have to be smart to hit 5120x2880 because I have no freakin clue how.

Yeah, I could go back to using the 1080p monitor but I needed something to freshen it up for me. It was a hobby that was getting stale.

I will say that for actually playing games, this monitor is pretty great. But taking screenshots.... not so much.
