There are some, but this is an early 'get hype' ad. Not a 'look what we got!' ad.
 
not a great ad but surely also not the only ad they'll have. Give me one with Ishin, Natural Doctrine, ARR etc and have an event on launch day to announce something

Get Flair to advertise it in Japan, he is respected in Japan, probably get Jim Ross fired again, wherever he works. WOOOO

It doesn't have to be wacky or animu in order to be catering to the Japanese audience. But this looks more like a post-launch brag reel for the international audience up until the very end. Hell you could still edit this commercial and use it for the US or Europe.

I agree. It is a very international style ad, and pretty empty (games wise) in context.
 
It's a seven-day-only ad with a focus on making sure Japanese gamers see the hype and know the release date. That is all.

The next ads will surely feature Japanese gameplay.

Also, not all Japanese commercials are like the ones you see on YouTube.
 
Lol I'm a Japanophile but no reason to get offended fellow Japanophiles. I actually wish we had Japanese games to start with in the US... :(

Same here, although this is funny how the end almost feels like a "at last, the real deal!", but i 'm really curious how japan will taste that..

I don't know about advertising strategies in particular, but Japan isn't universally opposed to western products or products with a western vibe or anything, so I don't think the negativity is necessarily warranted.
 
Pretyt much just, "hey guys, look at all the people who got their system 4 months before you!!! Look at how happy they are, don't you wish you were them?? Get hyped!"
 
Looks like the video was made by the same 4theplayers team. Doesn't look like they got the audience right for this.
 
It's a smart ad. Let hype build hype. Doesn't let the positive global response to PS4 go to waste. Makes you think you might be missing out on something.

As far as Japanese games go, I'm pretty sure the reaction was quite positive when they previewed the 2014 lineup a few months back wasn't it?

well people say the launch lineup from the west won't really be that appealing in japan, it's why it's launching later, so it will be interesting to see how those games(and the console) perform, since those were the only games shown in the commercial.

It's footage of gamers outside of Japan playing games... that are (or at the time will soon be) released in that region... you're surprised they weren't playing things that'll come out in the Japanese launch?

yea but i was questioning why they're showing a video of people playing games that won't theoretically appeal to them especially said console has been out for the last few months in the rest of the world. That they can play killzone with everyone else now?

Though I guess it makes sense if this is more of a teaser
