I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Those games don't really look good (the 2nd game does look better slightly).. But, they are not out for many many months, so they have plenty of time to revise the games, esp the 2nd game.

The tetris puzzle game thingy might work out well, if revised slightly. Right now, looks way too slow and kinda boring. Though the concept could be interesting.

thanks to Weng and Dr. Wong for the updates!

some spares update:

It seems that Mutand Mudds sold really well on 3DS, not so much on all other platforms (Steam, PSN, Wii U), but they said Viva eshop, and still have to release it on PAL Wii U Eshop. So hopefully they'll port some other games. They should unveil their new project (Moon) but should be for 3DS

It seems that both Trine2 and Giana Sisters were as profitable on Wii U eshop as on other platforms, or better.

Shin'en is going to show their next new Wii U project in the next weeks, so hopefully during January. They are also aiming to present the best looking Wii U game with Neo Fast. It will also have new features over the original Fast.

Project Cars developers are willing to show the true graphical power of the Wii U with their racing game foreseen for Fall14.

Is it a remake/update to their moon for DS or a brand new game?

we still don't know. they just hinted: "We'll bring back the Moon in 14!"
could be another up-port from DS to 3DS as for their racing

Another Update:
Two Tribes is facing crucial internal re-structure. It seems that they had financial problem.
It seems that their 2d shooter exploitint TT2 engine is still in development and should lead also to the Wii U eshop.

Others updates (are mods ok with me bumping the topic with updates even if there were not replies in-between one post of mine and another?)

Two Tribes: they made money from TT2 on Wii U: those are going into the development of the new shump. It should be for PC and Wii U. Good to hear: I've bought TT2, Rush and Edge on the eshop. I'd love to see more TT games coming.

Armillo update:
"Development of Armillo is looking good. Still working on 2D levels and not far from getting them done. Some are quite fun!"

Unepic lukily coming soon also for PAL:
"Unepic WiiU approved in Europe! 23 January is a possible release date for Europe launch of Unepic !!!"
There are also screenshots: I like that equipment mess on the touch screen!!!

Yeah, I know. But yours is not that far away, right?

Hopefully out by mid Feb. I'm looking to submit it to Nintendo by next week. Once this is all done, I'll likely have future games out sooner as I start to understand this process.

I'm likely to make my own level editor for future games, so I'm most likely to build a shorter game (a physic-based puzzle game) to test that out and aim to have that out by mid-Spring.

I'm not a mod but I think this is preferred because if you just do an edit, the thread will not get bumped and no one will know that you updated the thread.

Ok, thanks for the opinion. That was my intent too :)

Btw:

Tengami: already posted the new footage. I admint that I love the art, but I'm still not sure about the gameplay. But it's one of my most wanted.

TwoTribes: it would be few months before hear something new about the new shump, but it will have double-jump: "The double-jump mechanic is... ... more accurately described as jump-and-hover."

UnEpic: Trailer and screen and update on voices: they will be just in english and spanish. but should have text also in Italian.

Sorry I never made the new graphics, Aostia. I had intended to, but I haven't felt particularly inspired, and I'm apparently lazier than I thought!

What do you think about this?

Chasing Aurora Trailer

Somewhat inspired by Captain Smoker's new 2014 retail game thread in the info arrangement.
Also, I wasn't sure what to do with the Off-TV thing, so I just stuck it on the other corner there. I'll probably have some more ideas about this later, but I wanted to actually get something done. :)

A few other thoughts:

I think you should remove the text at the top of the thread, with the exception of the links to the virtual console & retail game threads (the latter of which should be updated to the new 2014 thread). The thread title is pretty self explanatory, and an under construction notice doesn't really add much. :p

Like I did above, the link to the trailer should have the game's name in the hyperlink in order to make the thread searchable. If the text is replaced with the graphics, finding a game would mean having to manually scroll, but if we have the game's name in the link to the trailer, a simple Ctrl+F search will make it nice and quick to find the info. It'd also probably make it easier for you to update the thread, since you'd be able to tell which graphic was for which game.

Looks good. Nice work as always. Would be cool if you could keep the information for number of players. And I noticed the year of release for Chasing Aurora, Puddle, Trine 2 is wrong. They all released in 2012.
Making it searchable by using the name for the link to the trailer is also a great idea.

I like that they went eshop only instead of just canceling the game, other games almost finished should have done that also, like Young Justice league and Aliens CM, I know they are bad games but people get the chance to play them and their is no retail risk.

It would be awesome, if EA did this with Fifa on WiiU. Just port the PS360 versions with the gamepad interface from Fifa13 and release eshop only. Or to make it absolutely cost effective just release a Fifa13 reskin on WiiU every year (eshop only). I just love Off TV Fifa on my WiiU, but updated squads would be great too

I think the main problem for FIFA 14 on Wii U was that FIFA 13 was based off FIFA 12. They couldn't set aside the resources to port the engine in time for FIFA 14 (PS4/One was obviously a priority last year), and certainly didn't want to release a "Legacy Edition" based off FIFA 12. There's no excuse for FIFA 15 though, that should be out for all major platforms - yes, that's including Wii U :P (And please, it's time to cut that PS2 version, although I would love to know exactly how that version has evolved since 2008)

Out of curiosity, have any of the games kickstarted for the Wii U eShop released for the console?

Cloudberry Kingdom came out last August. All the other ones aren't even done or have just come out and are still being ported over.

Its 19.99 on Steam now, that should be the price but you never know with these publishers

add at least 10 for the console tax (a.k.a. platform holder license)

I guess they decided to meet halfway :D

F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition (Codemasters) - €24.99/£19.99

CrossCode, an HTML5 Action-RPG currently in development, is coming to Wii U:

Not only can we bring CrossCode to the Desktop, we can also bring it to the Wii U! Thanks to Nintendo and the Nintendo Web Framework we can port CrossCode to the Wii U. There is still some stuff to do to make the game run on the Wii U. As you might imagine the Wii U has a specific hardware set and we need to adapt CrossCode to make it more playable and avoid potential problems.

About the game:
CrossCode combines retro-style 2D graphics with the unique theme of throwing energy balls at everything. By throwing balls you will:

  • Solve challenging puzzles
  • Defeat many enemies and master epic boss fights
  • Destroy boxes Interact with your surroundings
All this gets delivered as a plot-driven Action-RPG.

Gameplay TechDemo

In the blog post where the Wii U version was announced they also detail the progress they made since releasing the TechDemo. They also put it in video form.

Looks and plays interesting. I'm curious how it will turn out.

Another question, apart from looking on forums, and the "highlighted games" that Nintendo puts on the main page, how do folks look for/find games on the Wii U eShop? Is there search on the eShop or anything?

There is a search bar at the top with quite a few filter options.

Not too bad I guess. A quick Amazon UK search shows £7.01 (PS3) + £11.40 (360) so the Wii U version isn't that much more (at least it's better than Lego Batman 2's price at release). Would be neat if a few third parties (yeah I know asking too much here) did a few cheap Wii U ports as budget digital only titles.
