Bryan needs to win at WM. Winning at Extreme Rules means nothing. It's Del Rio tier. You have to win at a big event and then you have to beat a big star afterwards. Doing it the other way round doesn't mean anything.

I would be okay with Bryan vs HHH at WM for a title shot at the next PPV. The crowd reaction to HHH would be great. They could build it up over the next few months. Just watch some old Vince vs Stone Cold stuff for inspiration. Let Bryan get some wins before WM so he's on a hot streak going in and make HHH loses clean. HHH could then admit he's impressed with Bryan. Could be fun. Doesn't fix their god awful WM main event though.

It's Wrestlemania or nothing. He has to be exposed in a big capacity to the casual watchers. No one is going to give a shit if he beats HHH then wins a title at a PPV no one is going to watch

You already have an out with Brock wreaking house wanting a title shot. Have Brock v Orton at Elimination Chamber with Brock winning the title. Keep building Orton/Bautista feud to the point where Bautista wants Orton at WM more than a title shot.

Nah he's gonna win the title at a B show, C show or Summerslam which looked the path they were going. I bet all these supposed all day creative meetings are just the writers doing a bunch of pitches to Vince and end up with the same Mania card to Vince as that's just what he originally liked.

Personally while i wouldn't say I "like" him I think he's done OK on his end since he won the title. I blame the booking more than him for it for any of his negatives.
We don't know that it's a clause in his contract. It could just be a verbal understanding in which case the remaining year and a half of his career would be very awkward.
If it is in his contract, they would have ways to get around it. There's going to be a line about how they do not have to follow through with that promise if he is injured to the point where he can not do the match or other under extreme circumstances, and with some legal wrangling they're going to find an excuse. Same thing about the rest of his run being awkward though.
Basically, Triple H has to deal with this guy for real since they're best friends in real life, so from his and Vince's perspective it's going to look like the easiest way out to just do the match.

I am pretty sure he turned to shit immediately after they started called him the viper.
Dude was never a draw on his own and is always the worst part of any of his feuds. He needs someone else to carry any story since he is a black hole of charisma on the mic.
He can really go in the ring when pared with the right person though. Ill give him that. Most successful enhancement talent of all time!
As a heel he's fine and can actually put out a match that isn't pure crap more often then once a year.
Also, he actually puts people over. Even when he was a face he put over Mark Henry.

I like Orton, his Legend Killer cocky stuff was great. I started to like him after they jobbed him out for an entire year to Cena. Then he got the drug violations and got stuck in the vortex for a couple of years. Looks like they finally started trusting him again so he's back in main event storylines. Hes a much better wrestler than he was no longer does pure headlocks overall he's very smooth in the ring. Out of everyone he's pretty much the victim of the chants currently. Orton vs Bryan is what should be happening instead of Show or Cena. Plus he's getting booked as just a guy who is carrying HHH's World titles.
Orton is a fucking excellent wrestler. He's like a figure skater in the ring. Even people who watch wrestling for the first time will notice and call out how clean he is with his moves. Dude ran great matches all summer with DBry before his heel turn. I don't think he's uncharismatic at all. I think he has a very stoic charisma, something I feel is increasingly lost on younger generations regardless of wrestling. The booking is killing him, but it's not his fault. You know who else likes Randy Orton? Dean Ambrose. Says he watches all of Randy's matches. I feel like the rest of the roster should too.
Yeah I remember those matches. They were really good. If I remember correctly one of those matches got stop because of DB concussion.

Like most things, it's the booking that ruins Orton. It ruined Sheamus too, who is a fantastic worker but has been booked like horseshit. Look at his matches with John Morrison, they're superb.

Guys like Orton and Cena (and a focus on women in the ring) are the reason I stopped following this shit a decade ago. They're terrible in the ring; bland on the stick; and bring nothing to the table that hasn't been done better by a number of different guys already. Why Vince never poached all of TNA's young talent and allowed them to tell stories in the ring is beyond me. I suppose the real money is in the merchandising, but that doesn't make for good entertainment with the lack of talent they have.

I think the problem is Batista is rumored to have been promised "you'll come back huge and win at WM" as part of his new deal. So Bryan winning a title shot at WM and winning the belt at ER in his hometown is the most predictable, boring outcome to come of this.
Imagine Punk not getting a title shot and not beating Cena at MITB 2011 after his big promo and just fighting Sheamus or something. It's bizarre. People wanted someone new and different then, and three years later they're still waiting.
It feels like the crowd's really into Roman Reigns in a "we know you're exactly what they're looking for, and we'll give you a shot at winning us over" place with the crowd, too. Ryback had that when he was a face. Go watch Ryback vs Punk stuff, it's weird how over he was.

I think HHH vs Bryan makes the most sense right now and I think they could put on a hell of a match. It just needs to end with HHH putting Bryan over clean. Bryan doesn't need to win the title at WM, he's over as fuck without the belt. He just needs a compelling story line and something the crowd can get behind. They can make it the real starting point for his new title run. A title run where he needs to be allowed to go out and do his thing and not be held down by stupid management.
It's also kinda the only thing except for Bryan winning the title at WM that would make sense and leave the crowd somewhat happy. You can give the Bryan vs Authority story the payoff it needs, while still letting Batista have his moment.

Exactly why Bryan should face HHH at WM for a title shot. It ends the Authority garbage, would give Bryan a win over a hall of famer/legend and propel him into the title picture. It makes sense. The win over HHH just has to be clean, not outside interference, no sledgehammers, just a good, well wrestled match that ends with HHH either tapping out to the yes lock or getting pinned for the 1-2-3.
