I enjoyed your post a lot and wish I could see the rest of it, despite you saying it was full of vitriol. PM me if you would like. I don't want to de-rail the thread further into more on the subject because as I said before, I'm not going to change anyone's mind probably. The show has its audience and its detractors.

I will say though, I tend to see One Piece similarly where I see a bunch of people just making bad decisions all the time, yet I still enjoy the show. So many times, I'm watching and I will sit there going "If only someone would explain themselves...there is a chance none of this would have occured!". For example, the last couple weeks have been dealing with Luffy in a fight with Iceberg's foremen because they think Nico Robin is part of Luffy's crew and she shot Iceberg. Or when Usopp got all pissy because they were going to buy a new ship. If Luffy had stopped and said to Usopp "There is nothing we can do. The ship can't be repaired.", maybe he would have understood. As it stood though, he didn't, he just kept on keeping on. It just seems like the characters are completely incapable of explaining themselves to the other characters.

Except Robin is a part of Luffy's crew and she did shoot Iceburg

Except Robin is a part of Luffy's crew and she did shoot Iceburg

Sorry, I thought I wrote a sentence that I completely forgot to. I meant to say:

Wouldn't it have possibly diffused the situation for Luffy to say, "Hey wait, we haven't seen Robin in days!" or something of the sort. Instead he just continued to fight and comment on how strong the guys are and how he didn't want to fight. He never explained himself or even a perceived innocence. He had no knowledge and didn't condone the attack, nor order it. Why not say so? It might have been for naught and whatever. Just something that comes up when I watch the show.

Kill: dbz
Kill: dbz

While I enjoy it I feel like it shouldn't win. I feel it will have good odds of winning and my best shot of detracting from that is pathological downvoting.

Save: hamtaro
Shit was adorable. Don't care if it was off-theme a tad. A childish spirit of adventure in the shows was as important to me as the actual violence.

Some of it is character egos in One Piece and a bit on the side of Usopp questioning his own ability to be a part of the crew. At that point, he offers the least to the crew in terms of overall ability as the sharpshooter while the other weak combat character Nami is highly valuable as the navigator. Luffy, who doesn't even care about the pasts of his crew just fails to realize the greater issues going on with Robin to even believe that she could shoot Iceberg.

I liked the post too, as I find the writing in SAO to be pretty poor. Coming from playing a few MMOs, the in-game politics are in the least childish and at most so over-the-top RP that it is unbelievable. As well, none of the in-game stuff even really matters all that much to anyone not playing the game. I feel that the characters and the world are poorly written, with skin-deep drama outside of the girl in a coma because she played the game.

You bring up a good point. I have played a lot of years of MMOs and I can say I did encounter people in the "consume-your-life" days of original Everquest that did act like some of the people in SAO. Clearly not a life or death scenario, but there were definitely people that took it very very seriously in those days. Childish and ridiculous in retrospect? Absolutely.

Good, good. Let the Hamtaro hate flow through you...

BTW, just as a general voting guide, the top 10 should end up looking something like this

• Batman: TAS
• Cowboy Bebop
• FLCL
• Megas XLR
• Rurouni Kenshin
• Samurai Jack
• Teen Titans
• The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
• Yu Yu Hakusho
• Yu-Gi-Oh!

So plan accordingly.

All these posts today and I forgot to vote.

Kill: Bakugan
Kill: Duel Masters
Save: DBZ

Sorry HamHams, I don't think there is any hope for Hamtaro at this point. Bakugan and Duel masters aren't shows I would consider "good" especially compared to the rest of the list, so I'm putting them up. DBZ is an old favorite that I can still enjoy.

It would actually be kinda fitting if the top 10 was made up of shows not known for being hugely popular... or good for that matter (i.E super friends).

Here are a list of shows that did not receive any votes of any kind in Rounds 1 or 2:

Astro Boy (2003)
Batman Beyond

Blue Dragon
Blue Submarine No. 6
Cardcaptors
Cowboy Bebop
Deadman Wonderland
Dragon Ball
Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes
G Gundam
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
G-Force: Guardians of Space
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Gundam 0080
Jackie Chan Adventures
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team

The Batman
The Powerpuff Girls
The Prince of Tennis
ThunderCats
Transformers: Beast Wars
Transformers: Cybertron
Voltron

There's a lot to get through! Rounds 1 and 2 used for specific orbital strikes. Round 3 seems to be going similarly. A lot are using their 2 kills to double-tap instead of having varied choices.

Maybe things will cool off and some of those will get their comuppance very soon once we get past the absolute dregs of offerings.

Not me. I'll be using my votes as a means of giving lesser shows a little poke and others a little cushion.

Kill: Robotech (ignoring the whole Mackere stigma that this show has gotten I just found it to be kind of boring)
Kill: Pokemon Chronicles (focused on characters that I don't remember caring or liking very much)
Save: Tenchi Universe (first show I watched and liked online which incidentally was right around the time Geneon USA folded)

There's absolutely no way I'm letting fucking Storm Hawks make it that far, regardless of whatever agenda I may or may not have.

I could be petty this turn with all the hamtaro killing that will inevitably happen but instead I will continue to just vote for shows I actually dislike or never had a chance to see (which are actually very few from this list)

Kill Duel Masters - Once again a show that was both bad and lame but a very blatant rip off
Kill Super friends - the lamest of lame super hero shows

Save Hamtaro - I would not doubt it dying this round out of spite from certain people (also because many seem to dislike it and screw those guys) , but I genuinely liked the show and that is irrespective of how much it "fitted" on toonami or not.

So far this competition is a lot like the 90's cartoon survivor. Groups gunning for some of the stronger shows because it will become harder to get rid of those shows head to head against whichever show they want to do well. Best way to combat that is to eliminate whichever show these groups are trying to protect, like Hamtaro. I know I wouldn't be voting to kill it if they weren't going after some of the bigger shows right off the bat. There is no way Hamtaro should be voted off before Bakugan, but the Hams sealed their fate by threatening some other big shows.

Basically Hams came out too aggressive and are now the alpha threat. I wonder if the Hams have another show they want to do well and they are concealing by using Hamtaro as a decoy?

This is a great post and explains the situation perfectly.

Nothing EVER happens in Inuyasha. If you want to complain about filler, 90% of Inuyasha is filler

A simple glance at an episode may appear that that nothing is moving on a narrative-level, but the character dynamics evolve constantly; which is actually refreshing as Inuyasha has a really strong cast.

Season 1: Sets up the story and character, I don't really think I need to elaborate on this one to be honest.

Season 2: Kikyo learns the truth of her betrayal, and her character evolves into more than just I HATE YOU INUYASHA. Sesshomaru is beaten by Inuyasha and meets Rin, which is the beginning of him becoming less cold-hearted. Naraku begins to expand into more of a "Father from FMA" role with the introduction of Kagura, Kanna, and Kohaku. We also get the Demon Inuyasha arc, which causes Inuyasha to realize that becoming a full-fledged demon with the Shikon Jewel might not have been in his best interest.

Season 3: Beginning of the Miroku/Sango relationship starts here. Kagura becomes more distant from Naraku and tries to break free from him. Inuyasha and Kagome become more competent here, Kagome starts to miss a lot less. Inuyasha starts to finally yield his sword better, and even beats Naraku to the point where Naraku has to flea until the Band of 7 arc reintroduced him. Speaking of Naraku, we learn more about his weaknesses such as Onigumo's heart or him being half-human.

Season 4: Well okay, this season is mostly just episodes made exclusively for the Television Show. I actually enjoy most of the filler here though.

Season 5: Band of 7 arc, this is probably the closest Inuyasha has to a "Sasuke Retrieval" Arc or a "Soul Society" Arc in the sense that its a lot of Shonen battles of the heroes and various villains introduced. I hate to spoil since ToonamiGAF will be watching the last episode of this on Sunday, but the main evolution of this arc is
Naraku has finally managed to get rid of his human heart while retaining his powers, thus he finally surpasses Kikyo and kills her.

Season 6: ToonamiGAF hasn't gotten here yet, so I'll spoil this another time.

Guess I'll vote, Hamtaro needs me

Kill: DBZ
Kill: DBZ
Save: Hamtaro

DBZ is overrated, they spend half the episodes screaming to power up instead of actually fighting. That crap used to piss me off so much as a kid, ESPECIALLY if you were left with a cliffhanger episode on Friday. I'd rather watch a bunch of cute hamsters go on whimsical adventures than support a show that revolves around a roided out neglectful father. What kind of hero spars with a mega strong android threatening genocide, says "screw this i give up lol" in the middle of his fight, gives the evil baddie a senzu bean to heal, and then forces their teenage son fight to the death with the guy? Great parenting Goku.

Do the right thing, kill the poorly paced overly hyped show that is riding on the coattails of nostalgia, folks. A vote for DBZ is a vote for Al-Qaeda.

#teamhamtaro

While I do empathize with you on the fact that they did leave you on a cliffhanger and spend a portion of the episode screaming, I must point out that this is what was a unique factor of dbz. It built drama and suspense as they always kept you hooked, wanting to know more, wanting to know what will happen next. By doing this they also took you on an emotional roller coaster, invoking feelings within a person. By yelling and screaming, concentrating all of that power, it shows you and almost allows you to feel their struggle, to feel their desperation, to feel their pain. After feeling like you have become involved, you have to wait to see another episode and that pisses you off. But I’m sure you couldn’t wait to see the next one, could you? Could any of us? Furthermore, Goku was a fighting genius, some make fun of him because he is so oblivious to some of the most common things, but it was in his blood to fight. He is one of the remaining few pure blood Saiyans of a warrior race. He fought Cell with everything he had so that Gohan, his son, could watch the fight and gain an advantage so that when he fought he knew what Cell was capable of. Goku went in KNOWING that he would not be the savior this time, he knew it would be Gohan whom would protect Earth. Knowing this, he never told Gohan but trained him as best as he could. He spent more time helping Gohan than the spent training himself. After they trained for so long, he told his boy to relax and enjoy the remaining days until the tournament, so that they could have quality time together. He knew it was likely that he would die, he tried to be there for his son, and at the same time he was there for all of Earth. Like I mentioned before, he is a warrior and lives to fight. The difference between Goku and his ancestors is that he is kind-hearted, he’s good. The apple does not fall from the tree, so he wanted his son to have a fair fight with the monster to test his abilities, and let him have a go at saving Eath. Goku is not immortal, he has to pass the torch to someone some day. He knew in his heart that Gohan could win. It was one more lesson he had to teach his son, AWAKEN YOUR DAMN SLEEPING POWER!! Granted the Earth was almost destroyed, Goku helped his son achieve heights that Gohan could never achieve on his own. To become a super Saiyan that quickly at that age? THEN, you ascend passed the two pure blooded Saiyans, and the half breed from the future, just like that? Goku did that, he did that for his son! He is a great parent, he took care of his child, helped him grow, and saved the Earth so many times before. WTF does that Hamster do?

KILL: Hamtaro
KILL: Hamtaro
SAVE: Dragon Ball Z – There is no way this show is ready to be taken out. I’m sure that it won’t win, but no way should it be gone at this round when there are so many other shows that should go first.

Kill: DBZ - I've only seen the Danish dub of this, and it wasn't any good.
Kill: DBZ - And I got no particular love for the show either.
Save: Hamtaro - Because #teamhamtaro

That Hamtaro joke was all good fun, but let's not let it get out of hand. LOL at the B:AS kill(s)! I actually remember Hamtaro from when I was younger and I think I can quote myself "a show about hamsters? really?!" If you are voting out DBZ this early, in a toonami thread... LOL

In the end Hamtaro will somehow end up with the same amount of kill and save votes somehow making it 0 LOL.

But man if DBZ ends up in the bottom 80, there is gonna be a shit list of people who have terrible taste or are plain terrible for trolling like that!

Kill: Hamtaro
Kill: Hamtaro

Save: Dragon Ball Z

Hamtaro did not belong on Toonami

Dragon Ball Z IS Toonami. Dragon Ball Z pretty much IS anime in the US for so many people. Dragon Ball Z IS better than fucking Bleach and Naruto.
