Impressive. Wow. This is just remaster and just imagine how good the sequel will be.

looks as good as most UE5 games
I think it's more of a testament how good the original ps4 version looked and the pc version too.

The updates I saw at the camp today running around quick didn't look that much better like Ds hair isn't more enhanced. Reflections in the glass window didn't change. Ground textures looked the same.

Lighting, clouds, and grass looked to be enhanced though.

Started a new game on Survivor I mode. Graphics set to enhanced PS5 pro mode. Image quality is alright. No significant PSSR artifacts and frame rate seems stable most of the time. The game is full of graphical glitches. Square moon at night :D and lighting looks messed up at night. Bright objects, like fire or candles exhibit strange behaviour. Game is not changed/advances in any way from the gameplay perspective. It's almost a brilliant game with fair share frustrating bits. I pumped a solid 18 hrs into it so far.

Not a fan of the artificially darkened nights. Light sources are not toned down and now every single lit candle has this massive glow... survivor camps now look almost like in a cartoon with all those lamps. It's the same for the bikes headlight - it's way too bright! The ambience from the original is totally gone. Who wanted darker nights anyway? It was so cool to fight a horde at night in bright moonlight. Now you see fucking shit.

It seems they just cranked up the contrast at night. Dark becomes too dark and bright becomes too bright. Don't think they gonna patch it though...

The lighting has definitely some issues with PSSR and not only. It doesn't happens every time but there some weird bright flickering on the mountains in the background in some areas and the torch light of the NERO guards show macroblocking noisy compressed issues (really ugly) both absent with performance mode

Lies, bullshit and absolutely hyperbole

FULL OF GRAPHICAL GLITCHES 🤣🤣

Everything has been rock solid for me so far.

Welp, I downloaded the update. Days Gone was my guilty pleasure of early 2020 (just before Covid).

Looking forward to jumping back into this "enhanced" world..

I still haven't managed to play. It took me a while to sort out my saves which I had on the old PS5 and weren't on the cloud for whatever reason and by the time I was done I left for work. Looking forward to NG+ with all my weapons already unlocked.

I had the game on my USB drive, moved over to my PS5 and wasn't offered any update.
I thought you can get the upgrades without the $10, which includes the horde mode.

The game was just ok for me, but it absolutely does still stand out as one of the best and most performant uses of Unreal Engine doing an open-world. They did great technical work that puts others using the engine today still to shame.

Do you have the PS+ (Collection, whatever) version? You're only eligible for the upgrade if you've actually purchased the game (digital and disc version).

There are definitely graphical glitches and with PSSR are more visibles. Probably I'm too sensitive to such stuff but I can't avoid to feel disappointed about the PSSR uses. AC Shadows PSSR is far more stable with 1/4 resolution. I don't expect to see PSSR flaws at 1585p honestly.

Huh? No they haven't?! 😲 There's a black loading screen before and after every cutscene and quest! And what's worse, the loading times on those screens haven't improved on PS5 (Pro)!
There's none on mine, it's a seamless transition now.
You playing the remastered version or the OG?

Of course I'm playing the Remaster and the basic structure of the game hasn't changed!
It would be almost a Remake's effort if they had to program and animate seamless transitions from gameplay to cutscenes. It was clear from the beginning that this wouldn't happen.

Sorry for double post but I think I know what you mean

Maybe you think of some instances where you indeed can play after a cutscene without a blackscreen. There is one such moment when Deacon gets off Boozers bike at Crazy Willie's for example. But that's only a handful of moments in the whole game and these were in the Original as well.

Sadly on PC, there is no support for DLSS/FSR/XeSS.
And the game is still using DX11. Forcing DX12 makes the game crash, so it's probably still using UE 4.13
That sucks. That said the original game wasn't that demanding all in all and doesn't sound like the updates made it worse.

That's a bit silly. They give the game to me for free via ps+, but want to avoid me giving them 10 proper dollars because I can't upgrade? How many would upgrade just to have it? Even if it was 15 I'd do it.

Yeah, you're right. Just come up against some with black screens recently.

Yeah it's dumb, take the $10 and give me the upgrade, let it be active along with the ps+ version. If I unsub I lose access. Sony leaving money on the table.

Yeah loading screens are still present in the remaster, ya can check my recently played.
Definitely playing the Remaster.
Kinda disappointed about that.
Maybe it's a bug?

Ps+ perhaps. I owned the disc but gave it away after it came to ps+. Now no upgrade for me.

Same with myself. I only paid about £5 for a disk, that I installed but never played. Got the p+ licence on the instant game collection. Gave the disk away, and they probably won't redeem the £10 offer 🙈🤣

Ah well. Everything else has been usually a cheap disk and £10 upgrade. So sometimes you gotta be happy to support 'the developer' 😁

I do still think it's a bit rubbish of Sony. For what is a remaster to a game they seemed to all but disown. But now I think is being used to test the waters for a sequel (and some dev practise on the hardware at low cost and to sell some more copies)

(like the time I accidentally bought dying light for £47 or so. Instead of the £15 I planned !!! 😳🙈😬😂. )

These things happen. I did load my ps4 save. But didn't get a new game + option.

Guess I'll just start from scratch, as it's been a while and I was really rusty on a quick run of my save 🫣😂

Exactly! I'm no fan of the new flashlight effect which makes light from artificial light sources such as headlights or flashlights get this cheap glow which reminds me of playing Gran Turismo 3 on PS2 or something.
And yes, this extra darkness is too dark for me. It's like playig Dying Light which is too dark and scary for me lol! I think it's like they went ahead and listened to all these PC-gamers playing with ReShade and slapped something from that on.

The Horde Assault Mode is really fun although there are some stuff they hopefully will patch soon.

Not a fan of the prolonged pickup time which seems to have come from the old PC-version. Before in PS4 version you could just hold Square briefly and you would pick up items quicker than it takes now.

God I wish this game had gyro aim.
I was gonna ask this! Gyro aim isnt working for me but I think I have wireless aiming or something enabled in DG settings. I was thinking my launch day DualSense lost it, but isn't gyro working for anyone else here?

That's a real bummer and another reason for me to play original on PS5 or play it on PC where I can use my trusty DS4. The DualSense haptics and vibrations is so tingly that I just can't stand using that thing with those hight-pitched vibrations for more than 5 minutes. I turned everything off.
But the vibrations for the horde and the rain is a cool feature if you can stand it, but I can't and probably never will get used to such vibrations.

The Remaster on PS5 is great when it comes to Horde Assault combined with being able to raise FOV to something like 90, although the larger horde in the end makes standard PS5 framedrop when you have higher FOV, obviously. You can also lower game speed to 75% which is a nice feature when you have a larger horde or many enemies. It's cheating but also for those who enjoy the looks of the animation. I would definitely recommend Horde Assault but to really enjoy it you probably need some +100 hours on the game.

Apparently it was implemented in the PS4 version, but it is not currently working in PS5 Remastered.

Which fucking sucks, because this game is absolutely begging for gyro aim.

If you bought the game, you have the $10 upgrade.

If you have it rented from PS+ you can't use the $10 upgrade.
