Sony looking to expand PlayStation Studios titles to Xbox and Nintendo, according to Job Listing

if Microsoft allows Steam/Epic Store/GoG etc. games on the next Xbox, it absolutely changes everything on that front.
that means all Sony PC games will be playable. maybe not in their best form, and with a bit of tinkering needed, but they'll be there.
And Microsoft won't get any of the money.

That assumes there isn't a deal in place where those PC stores dont give a cut to MS for expanding the customer base.

It's like why do stores have that wall of gift cards representing other stores? Sounds dumb to allow customers to spend good money elsewhere when they should want the customer to spend all of it in their own store. The craziest is how a lot of them carry Amazon of all things since they sell just about everything and it helps reinforce someone buying online instead of in-store. But they still carry Amazon because they know there's always some Amazon shoppers.

But they know customers also shop elsewhere and you cant have it all. So a different store knows it's better to give up 6% fee to the other store in order to carry the card. They might only get 94%, but it's better than getting zero.

well no, but also... yes they will.
all of these plans, including the Asus collab with the Ally handhelds, are about keeping Windows the number 1 system for gaming.

so offering these options can be a benefit in the long run, even tho they don't get any of the money when a Steam game is bought through their system.
simply the fact that you are interacting with their OS is good enough for them

The install base for this new Xbox console will be small. Steam would be smart just to say no if Microsoft wants a cut. They have enough PC players.

Yeah but fuck Sony too for allowing the likes of him control the Playstation brand. Should have stuck to their Japanese roots.

To me, the big winner here is Nintendo.

Xbox is irrelevant.
Actually its your statement that's irrelevant. Out of all the companies you named MS is the one company who can keep trying (basically at this point) for the next 100 years. I'm a big gaming fan too but, lets keep our shirt on here. MS won't go anywhere but, what they will do is change and evolve the Xbox brand or they'll change the name. Irrelevant however, is not in the cards!

I never said MS going anywhere, I said Xbox is a dead brand.

No, Nintendo left the home console business with WiiU after being kicked out of home consoles by Sony.

Even if you count Switch as home console (which isn't), Sony is the market leader: SIE makes more revenue, profit, has a bigger active userbase, sells more games, more addons, more gamesubs and generates way more revenue with console game sales, addons, gamesubs, hardware and accesories.

Everything in my post you quoted is a fact. Another one that I forgot to mention is that PlayStation has the majority of the console market share when also counting Nintendo, and Sony's size of the pie keeps growing year after year.

So yes, it's a fact that Sony won.

Obviously, this is how game stores work in Windows: none of them pay nothing to MS.

In this case, Sony gives Epic a 12% and Valve a 20% of the revenue Sony makes in their PC stores independently if the PC has an Xbox logo in the box or not. MS gets 0% from Sony's PC games.

Sony only pays MS a revenue cut for the games sold in the Xbox consoles. The future Xboxes will be PCs running Windows instead (and as such they'll feature there the PC Xbox store, Steam or Epic Store).
