Why do people who can't seem to stand the show take the time to nnot only take time out of their day to watch it but then go on the internet to bitch about it? There are so many shows I hate but I don't waste my time or others with them.

Anyway I thought it was a pretty fun episode, Abraham is moving up to close to my favorite character.
Totally agree

I went from tolerating Abraham to hating him, I was hoping he was going to get shot before he slugged Eugene or eat a bullet at the end.. The sex scene was so out of place, I’m not sure what they were going for, it’s like they are making Eugene to be a complete social reject.

Eugene has been portrayed as extremely socially awkward even before that point. I think the scene was just to drive that home (though I don't think it was necessary).

Episode was definitely filler

Except it wasn't - at all.

A couple episodes back people were arguing he was legit.

?

It's called buying time; either the writers are having a hard time on deciding where the plot/characters ultimately go next after some major arc, or they don't have enough money to advance things at a respectable pace (which given the show's ratings would be really surprising).

Or neither of those things, lol. The show is following the comic - in terms of the broad strokes - and the place where the show is at right now is the next major arc. It's a journey arc - a travel arc - with little mini arcs scattered throughout (Terminus, church, hospital, etc.) to maintain momentum and excitement.

That's also the reason they're breaking up the big group into several smaller groups - it allows them to tell more interesting stories on a week to week basis (it also allows for an increased focus on a specific set of characters). If the group hadn't broken up, as badass and savage as they are, the hospital people would be nothing to them. The dozen zombies that poured out of the firehouse would be nothing to them. The only thing that could stop them at this point would be that massive herd or an army. And they certainly can't encounter either of those every week.

I suspect that after (speculation)
Rick and Co. eliminate the hospital group, they'll meet back up with Abraham and Co. and then when the show picks back up next year there'll be a time jump and the group will be closer to D.C. and we'll finally get some more stuff with Morgan since his scene clearly took place in a several month later flash forward.

The sex scene was so out of place

You are Abraham - you're horny, you have a (hot) girlfriend, it's nighttime, and you're in a secured location. Why would you not have sex with her?

I thought that scene was refreshing because The Walking Dead hardly ever touches on sex, which is one of the basest of human needs. Hunger, thirst, warmth, friendship, sure, but hardly ever do they touch on the subject of sex, which I think is a really interesting topic to explore in the zombie apocalypse.

There's got to be some sort of civilized order in the country, right? I'm not talking about one man like the governor taking control of a small town. I'm talking government controlled.

You guys can spoil me from the comics.

(comic spoiler)
There is civilization, but it's not government controlled. At least not until Ricktator takes over >:)

To comic readers here: A while back I read the first volume but I found it to be kind of boring and too over the top. Like it's too "comic bookey" compared to the show, who's tone is more realistic and based in drama. Does the comic become more dramatic and serious later on or does it still remain comic-like? I want to continue reading but that part of it was off-putting for me.

I stopped at 101 because it really because tedious to me.

I haven't read any thoughts here but I can't imagine I'm the only one who is not surprised Eugene was lying. It was obvious so watching it play out way...well...a bit boring.

Mentioned it earlier but

Mild comic spoilers
Abraham and his family had held up in a supermarket and Abraham ventured out to either look for help or supplies (I forget which) when he came back some bandits broke in and raped his wife and daughter. In a rage he brutally kills the bandits in front of his family and they become afraid of him and run away.
Thanks for reminding me of this. I was a little confused last night.
I don't understand why Eugene didn't stop watching once she had caught him. So weird.
I swear, his explanation about it being a victimless crime etc sounded straight out of a gaf thread. I got chills.
Did they ever mention visiting the CDC to Eugene? That seems like it would have been a worthwhile conversation.
Yeah, the CDC is the US government's disease fighting arm. If they went down, I never saw how there was anything left in DC to make a difference. I mean, he blew the building up while being its only inhabitant for over a month. There is nothing left of the government.

Good episode, but I need me some Ricktastic badassery soon.

Man were only 2 episodes removed from the termite massacre which was arguably the most Ricktastic badassery of the whole series to date.

One more thing, what ever happened to that Hispanic family that parted ways with Rick's crew at the quarry way back in season 1? They've kept the albeit more interesting Morgan around for as long, I wonder if we ever meet up with them again. I'm alright with comic spoilers if anyone's got any.

They weren't in the comics. No one knows what happened to them, though the dude who played the dad, Morales, recently tweeted this

which probably means nothing but who knows DUN DUN DUN

Someone needs to cut that Eugene gif so that it's only him falling straight down. A perfect "dead" gif.

So boring, Abraham and Eugene are shit characters and half the episode was filmed in the dark so we couldn't see a thing.

I can't get over how much I love Eugene. I hope that despite the reveal he continues acting like he's superior over everyone else. Unlike the others he actually "knows things."

I wonder how Abraham Inc. will play into the hospital storyline? Will they go back to the church and help out or will they just keep trucking on and eventually stumble upon Rick and Co. sometime down the line?

The rest of that crew seemed to be in rebellion once Abraham went crazytown. He wasn't really even that much of a staunch dictator up until that point anyway. Glenn would likely (and smartly) prefer to meet back up with Rick's crew asap, especially if Eugene ended up in any kind of serious condition. Whether they get back there in time before the seemingly inevitable attack on St. Ignatius though I don't know.

I think they'll head back too. Abraham will be all defeated and shit and Rick will pep him back up like a bro.

Just need to show some Maggie love

She so damn sexy, I thought she was trying to seduce Eugene during their conversation (to get information out of him or somethign). Turns out she just wanted to chat.

So...Rick knew that Eugene was full of it right?

Thinking back to how he reacted to what Eugene was saying and his complete indifference to heading to Washington seems to suggest that he knew Eugene was lying or at least exaggerating what he could achieve if he were to ever make it to DC.

That's one of Rick's superpowers, bullshit smelling.

I've stopped watching this at the start of Season 4. Just returned last weekend and binged through the entire Season 4. Now I'm up to Season 5 Episode 2...

:>

Am enjoying WD again :>

I wouldn't be surprised. I initially found it weird how indifferent he was to Eugene and his claims of a cure, but after this episode, it really makes me think he knew it was BS all along but didn't say anything as he knew Abe and co had to figure it out for themselves or for Eugene to spill the beans.

Visiting the CDC wouldn't serve any purpose. Eugene's proposed plan involved getting to DC to activate some supposed counter-measure. That wouldn't have been possible from a local CDC building. Rick's group also already knows that there's nothing at any CDC location that would be worthwhile to Eugene as the CDC made zero progress on fighting the virus.

The CDC guy did say that Japan was getting close to a solution.

Just watched it and wow, that episode was as bad as or probably worse than last weeks. Apart from Eugene's actor being completely useless it was the obvious from his introduction he didn't know shit. It was a plotline that went nowhere. Most of the scenes this week were mind numbingly boring. Also why did Eugene's family leave him? It didn't make that clear. If it was because he killed some dude that was trying to kill them then thats fucking stupid.

There were like 6 people dead on the ground in that scene, that he systematically killed for some cans of food that he could not even use after on account of them all being used to murder people with over a relatively protracted period of time. I wouldn't even be surprised if they had been a part of 'his group' and his wife and kids were hungry.

Better ep than Slabtown for sure.

I enjoy mcDermott as Eugene; he's exactly like his comic counterpart.

I do however think that Bram's past has more impact in the comics than the show though.

The way he explained it on Talking Dead was way more intense than what was wound up shown.

That the people weren't random bandits or something, they were part of a group he was with, they were "friends", and that they raped his family.

Jesus. I'm glad they didn't allude to that in the flashback. Horror shows/films rarely handle it well, and instead it just sucks all the fun out.
