This was a really solid episode. Enjoyed it a lot. Can't wait for the final two episodes.

On a related note, this episode was directed by David Lynch's daughter. Check out her movie 'Surveillance'.
She totally knocked this episode out of the park.. let her direct everything.

I wanna see Gabe get Aiden'd so baaaaad

also the abusive father storyline seems tacked on and boring, seems like Universe lining up for Rick to get some azz..

Once again, I've gotta question the party makeup on The Walking Dead. Should've invited a proper tank, samurai, or archer.

Instead, they raided a new dungeon as a PUG consisting of a rogue tank, some low-level mid-rangers with poor melee, and a couple of bros going AFK.

I woke up this morning still laughing at Eugene, Glenn and Noah applauding Carl becoming a man after that sneak preview for next weeks episode. Why hasn't that been gif'd yet?

well, it's just a sign that the idea of them having their perfect save little utopia inside those walls, keeping the evil on the outside, has been illusion long before they took Rick's group in.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I can't believe my wife made it through that scene without looking away. She did gasp a little though.. (as did I).

My brother heard me laughing from the other room, then when he found out what I was laughing at said I was fucked up,.

The death of
Noah
was the only scene ever in TWD which made me feel uneasy. Especially when
he suddenly gets pressed against the glass and a walker puts his hand in Noah's mouth and rips his cheek apart

But tbh, wouldn't that be impossible or do walkers get insane superhuman powers? I mean...try it out for yourself. I don't think you can rip off your cheeck just with bare hands.

That's going to be with Glenn for a very long time I feel. Especailly since he and Noah seemed be getting close. He was fully accepted as family as well. I like that you could see a sibling relationship between Glenn, Noah, and Tara. I'm still amazed he held it together with Nicholas and didn't kill him outright. Sure he very much wants to but that would look bad if he came back with both people from Alexandria dead. I hope very much he doesn't allow Nicholas to lie. He's straight up the reason Noah is dead. 100%. At the very least he's part of the reason why they couldn't bring Aiden's body back (he was going to die anyway from those wounds) with them because he ran instead of helping. Hell he might have been able to live long enough for them to get back. We'll never know now.

I'm convinced his death was extra harsh because he left to become a regular on another show. Sorta like a "if you leave us, your death will be horrible" type send off.

Didn't know he left to do another show. I thought contracts would be in place to prevent people from leaving prematurely.

You can break bones with your bare hands. I imagine pulling with enough force like that you could probably tear a cheek like that. Those fingers were hooked in there pretty deep

Ripping someone's cheek is a very real thing. It's called "fish hooking" so add that to your list of phrases to never enter into a search engine.

They've shown them to be super strong strong at a few points previously, usually when killing someone. When Dale got rando-killed the zombie just reached into his abdomen like it was gelatin. It happened kind of similarly to the other guy this episode.

In my head I can justify it with something like saying the zombies have no limiting mechanism to prevent damage to themselves, so they just go for it full bore where a normal person would instinctively hold back for fear of injuring themselves.

You can absolutely pull someones cheek apart. Not as quick or dramatically as the show, but humans are capable of some brutal shit if they really want to.

Besides that one episode in Game of Thrones, you know, THAT one.
Red Viper D:

Episode 14 is one of the most brutal things I've ever seen on television. Aiden and Noah, I mean. What do you say after that?

I'm still watching the walking dead but I often ask myself "why are you still watching?"
The shows writing has gotten gradually worse and formulaic and dull.
I am almost unexcited to find out the big plot twist of this season.

Why do they re-introduce old characters for ten seconds a few episodes back and then proceed to ignore them for the next few episodes as if that tease didn't happen? That's a stupid way to do it.
I haven't watched the latest episode yet btw...

Noah, deserved what he got, dude bored me to tears.

Next up Eugene, Gabe, and
Carl
, just for the Rick reax

well, it's just a sign that the idea of them having their perfect save little utopia inside those walls, keeping the evil on the outside, has been illusion long before they took Rick's group in.

Other than them being cowards, haven't had much of a problem with them so far.

My only problem with the episode (and the entire series) is that the group don't play it safe enough despite having survived for so long. They see a group of walkers behind a wire gate and they don't even bother breaking out some steel pipes or something to start stabbing at them from safety before moving on? It makes no goddamn sense. A lone walker approaches the group of five and they don't bother conserving ammo by taking it out with a melee weapon?

I want to personally feed Reverend Sellout to a walker, one piece at a time.

He just sold out the one group of people that can keep his sorry ass alive.

The kid want a gun for someone. The father obviously doesn't need a gun in a fight against his wife.

The father is the abuser.

Some women can beat the shit out of men though. A lot of the times its not about if the guy can fight back, but if he wants to. I've been catching weird vibes off that woman of late too. He could be a drunken fool because he gets his ass beat and knows who runs shit at the crib.

I always believed it was psychology keeping people from doing that ripping and tearing. What I mean is that as humans your subconscious would say to you "hey man, don't do that". Whereas the zombies have no mental mechanism to stop them from ripping and biting and tearing.

Just my thoughts in it.

Sure, but nothing in the show has suggested that scenario.

But what has specifically suggested its him aside from our prejudice that comes from societal norms? He's slightly off putting and a drunk does not necessarily equate to being abusive.

And Sam broke shit his mom made. And he's obsessing over cookies. His mom don't make cookies? It's almost like his mom don't give her no attention...

We're supposed to assume that Carol can identify a abusive relationship because of her experience, even if the evidence isn't there for the viewers

I cannot stand this character. Why won't he just get the red shirt treatment already? The writing for his character is terrible. They really need to thin the herd before the end of the season.

My theory for the abusive thing is that the wife beats the kids and the dad feels like he cant do anything. Sam wants the gun for the dad.

These black people are dying left and right, jesus this show.

Seriously. As soon as they started focusing on Noah with the engineering/historian stuff, I knew he was dead.

We're talking about a show where walkers ripped a fucking horse open with their hands in the pilot, and one walker managed to sneak up on Dale in an open field, and pin him down while ripping his stomach open at the same time. Oh, and let's not forget all the other times that they've crept up behind people completely silently when a cheap thrill is needed, despite how fucking noisy they're portrayed as being.

The walkers can magically do whatever the plot calls for. The only explanation is sloppy writing, plain and simple.

I'm wondering if the show would be ballsy enough to have Rick/Michonne summarily execute Nicholas (with approval of course) for being a dick and getting people killed. I hope so because I don't want Tara to die.
I rather doubt that would go over well. Nicholas has a kid... he's a father to Carl's new friend, Mikey (who was hanging out with Ron and Enid a couple episodes back). That may somewhat explain what a self-serving dick he was being last night. Nobody else on that run had a kid waiting for them back in Alexandria.

Ummmm that's obviously not going to happen. He's going to lie and accuse Glenn of getting Aiden killed and Deanna is probably going to believe him because she would be in no emotional state to think rationally once she finds out her son just died (plus Gabriel just planted seeds of doubt in her mind as well). That's going to cause a rift in the community which would build towards the season finale.

Meh, I hated the Noah character. His constant panting and look of if he was tired or thirsty drove me nuts.

I do find it funny though that whenever another black character shows up or gets screen time another dies, as if to say "see, we have a back up".

Did Noah even have a character? He was just around and it seemed they tried to build up some relationship between Him, Glenn, and Maggy ony so that his death would have some sort of impact.

Noah's death was awesomely gruesome.

But... an individual walker's strength seems kinda ridiculous. They're decaying tissue (at least slower than normal anyway) and should be mostly mush but here they are with strength greater than most living people.

Because it's a spoiler for an episode that hasn't aired yet. As is what you just said.

Come on people lets not single out walking dead about how zombies can sneak, rip apart living things. In the history of zombie media when have zombies NOT been able to rip apart things? Or get thier ninja on?

Can we go back to Armored Grenade Zombie then?

Because that shit was absurd.

Well of course she'd immediately think a man was the one doing wrong given her history

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they throw us a curveball and make it the mother.

Or maybe it's nothing abusive at all. The kid only said "it's not for me" and ran off. Carol shows up his house, dad is drunk and shady, so she is assuming he's hitting the wife.

Maybe I missed other hints, but is that all we have to go on?

How so? I actually had no problem with that. We've seen armoured walkers before at the prison, it's not unreasonable for one to have a grenade. And accidentally shooting a grenade would set it off.

I hate, hate, hate how they killed Noah off right when they give him something to do.

Also, holy shit. How can Glenn, like, function after seeing that?
