‘The Walking Dead’ – Season 5, Part 2 – S6 premieres Oct 11th

- Great episode
- Everything worked
- NO DEEP TALK!
- I was actually impressed at the begining when Noah was talking with that guy... they had a direct conversation, that made sense, about stuff that mattered. This is kind of unusual for The Walking Dead
- Even Carol talking to the kid was straight talk. In other episodes it would have been hours of deep stares and several lines without meaning, just to "set the mood" and "Character development!"
- They should keep this director

This is exactly why I loved this episode. I'm always going up and down with this show. First half of the season turns me off completely, second-half usually pulls me back in (except for last season really. The dialogue is horrible in this show, it's not like mad men where every single spoken line counts.

Edit: My one gripe is that they only reason the writers try and make a character interesting is when they want to kill them in order to invoke pathos. I was actually interested in seeing more of Noah after the conversation he had with the architect. How about you make compelling characters off the bat so that it's actually shocking when they die.

I've always liked the show, but this half season has been uncanny. Did they get new writers or something?

No idea but I thought this one really stood out. A lot of different things covered in one episode and it was actually tense. Basically the kind of stuff you want to see in something with this setting. And the set up for whats going to happen at Alexandria next is interesting. Feels like they're finally exploring new ground rather than retreading the same pattern.

the weird thing about Gabriel is that if he had just remained the good old priest he's been then this turn around actually make sense...but with him shredding his bible and seeming to be losing his faith....this is a real weird move.

Assuming we get Ricktator soon and they take over the spot, I wonder if we'll get a time skip. Something like a young Judy and an adult Carl with Rick and the crew keeping the place together for years until some huge thing does down would be a nice premise for future seasons.

Gabriel is just broken. His actions don't make sense but thats what happens when you're insane.

Noahs death was shocking because it was so brutal and the show had almost conditioned me into expecting them to make it out of there. I mean, they've effortlessly melee'd their way through bigger hordes than that before. I was expecting the red shirt asshole to bite it instead. I should have seen it coming with the bit in the beginning about architecture though.

The revolving door was a pretty neat setup. Used for the right amount of time too.

The timing of the entire episode was actually pretty damn spot on. It stands out in a show that it generally tends to drag whenever shit is not going down.

Noah's death scene made my stomach turn. It was especially horrifying as I felt like he was the least deserving to die, and that fish hook was nasty.

Three black characters dead in one season, is that a record?

Although honestly the whole notion is kind of overblown IMO. T-Dog survived about 2 and a half seasons, Tyresse also 2 and a half seasons, Bob 1 and a half seasons, Noah about a quarter of a season. Morgan is still around. The guy who was with the Governor didn't die.

I thought he just left the Gov in the night. No indication that he died

Martinez has a conversation with the Governor when they reunite saying something to the effect that "Shumpert couldn't take it anymore" after the Governor killed everyone, and his broken spirit led to him getting bit.

I don't think the show ever used his full name until this particular scene though, so it is easy to miss.

I'm still watching the walking dead but I often ask myself "why are you still watching?"
The shows writing has gotten gradually worse and formulaic and dull.
I am almost unexcited to find out the big plot twist of this season.

Why do they re-introduce old characters for ten seconds a few episodes back and then proceed to ignore them for the next few episodes as if that tease didn't happen? That's a stupid way to do it.
I haven't watched the latest episode yet btw...

Just stop watching. I don't get these people.

am I the only one that finds glenn quite... handsome
lol absolutely not. I said this in the other page, but I found him distractingly cute when he was getting legit shook. I shouldn't think that during that situation but that's how it is sometimes.

If only he'd shave that sad excuse for a mustache. When he and Maggie are heavily featured in an episode the eye candy is almost too much for me.

his good looks are becoming more and more evident to me the more I watch this show. there's nothing wrong with you thinking something like that even during a crucial segment.

with your last statement, are you like the chemistry that he and maggie's actress have on the show?

I don't think their chemistry is fantastic but I do feel that they do a decent job in selling that the two characters care a lot about each other. To be honest I mostly like it when they appear because I think both are very good looking, lol. It's been a while since Glenn and Maggie could share much besides despair though, hopefully we get some making out quieter scenes between them in Alexandria.

That Noah death hit really damn hard. Part of it was that "Don't let go" line as he was dragged and brutally eaten, but another part was that two characters had just died for him. He was the new dude in the group but it was clear that everyone cared about him and considered him one of them.He had so much potential and it was just taken away.

Also what the fuck is up with Maggie? She has become such an empty character that has been adding nothing to the story. She also seems to have gotten over the death of her sister after only one episode. Daryl is still getting over it and Sasha has been in all sorts of mental anguish after Tyreese died.

It's been a few weeks since Beth died, right? Or less? But it didn't happen yesterday. Maybe it's better that we didn't get sad moping Maggie for several episodes.

Given how little Maggie openly worried about Beth's whereabouts prior to the mid-season finale, I think we'd have more complaints if she was still mourning Beth and acting all depressed about it. Seems like they stopped being on-screen sisters around the time they got split up when the prison fell.

word. tbh though I think lori was the hottest female on the show. but yeah, I think eventually there'll be some nice quiet time in alexandria season 6 for glenn & maggie to do all the hanky panky they want.

It was six weeks between the hospital and where Tyrese died and probably a few more since then. Maggie never expected Beth to be alive, and to be fair, she was wrecked when she saw her and for some time since. She's lost a lot of people by now, she has probably become an expert at eventually compartmentalizing her pain.

I doubt Maggie remembers she even had a sister =P

I am so sad about what happened to Noah right now. Legit sadness :(. Emotionally, it's up there with
Viper v Mountain
in Game of Thrones for me.

You should spoiler tag that FYI

Just noticed that when the group got into the van and the music started playing the singer said "Now you're going to die" just as the camera cut to Noah. :(

Noah is the first character we lose in quite some time I feel a little bit sad about. This second half of the season has been quite entertaining so far.

I caught that too.

I was wondering if they'll make a connection between the van blaring dub-step and possibly
it attracting the herd

I'm really interested in how Deanne will react to Aiden and Noah's deaths. And how that coupled with what Gabriel told her, will effect things.

Also Maggie overheard that whole conversation so all this should make things quite interesting.

I also have a feeling that with Daryl out in the world he'll come across
the wolves
and maybe he'll be the
guy who gets half of his face melted

Good episode. Nice mix of plot and action.

It looks like Rick's group are on a confrontation path with the villagers. Rick should be trying harder to integrate and work with the Senator and it looks like she is having second thoughts on the whole plan.

In Ireland we have a nice word for that fucker of a priest : slíbhín (sleeveen). Back stabber, sly talker.

I'm looking forward to that coward getting his.

And Eugene is on his way to redemption. I like that. He's stepping up.

that music will draw all the goddamn zombies to alexandria before anything even happens.

and yes, deanna's mixed thoughts will be coupled with the news of her dead son, as well as possibly jessie's son telling her mother about carol's threats and theft of firearms.

maggie needs to save the day.
