what if this show is political commentary on how trigger happy American cops are

I never before got how porn-y this scene was.

I'm more and more under the impression that the zombie-problem is just about solved by now, they actually have to go out of their way to find zombies roaming around.

I'm thinking the same thing. I think thats why wee see some normal every day type things happening: ppl dating/sleeping around, ppl getting pregnant, etc. I kinda didnt get why Glen and Maggie wanted to have a baby...its starting to make sense now.

I love that the episode was filled some genuinely funny moments, but also some very unsettling moments too. Those dudes they killed may very well have deserved it, but doing it while they were sleeping just feels very wrong. Especially since the group knew almost nothing about them; remember in Season 1 when they were about to throw down with some gangsters but it turned out they were caring for old folks? It could have easily gone down the same way.

Oh well. Just hope that Gabriel keeps quoting the bible before he lays fools to rest.
The thing is, things changed since season 1. When Rick woke up and arrived in Atlanta, there were still some good people around. Sure there were a lot of zombies, but overall I'd say there were enough survivors around who were naive, waiting for the government to show up or taking care of the sick/injured. Over the course of the following six seasons those people died. Most likely killed by people like the Saviors who took advantage of them or walked into a zombie. I don't know how many years it's been in the series since the zombie outbreak, but as it is right now 90% of the survivors who are alive right now have done the most terrible things to live.

The Saviors they fought last night were enough proof. The two guards were gigantic pricks (the one using the zombiehead as a dummy, whut) and the sleeping guys had pictures of splattered heads hanging on a board. That's reason enough to sound the alarm on these people.

They lead a gigantic group of walkers away, who is to say that these won't walk back towards Alexandria/the Hilltop?

When? Where? The last big group of Walkers were the ones they torched in that lake in Alexandria IIRC.

Did you forget the part where Daryl/Sasha/Abraham lured away a big group of zombies from Alexandria by driving very slowly in front of them? :p

Amazing episode. Easily on of the Top 3 of the show.

TWD is on a winning streak. I don't think the show has been any better than it is right now, barring the pilot and some other random episode. Pacing was the best it's ever been and the tension remained high through the whole episode.

With that said, they should have done some proper recon. Dumb fucking move on Rick's part.

Edit: Gabriel is now more likeable than Morgan. Why I never.

They did, but much later. They took the zombies far enough and returned with the truck, they didn't know about the Alexandria attack.

They did, I thought the entire flock of zombies came back for Alexandria when the horn sounded, but Sasha and Abraham managed to lure a sizable group away. You're right.

Also, friendly advice: people who are not labeling their spoilered text as [COMIC SPOILERS] in some form or another will be getting the stick.

I don't like to be harsh and that's a relatively minor infraction considering that the text is already spoiler tagged, but there's no way to know if said text is tagged for any other reasons (such as preview talk), which may lead to people getting spoilered.

Looking back, last week's episode had a lot of people breaking the rules described at the OP and we can't have that. This may be one of GAF's most unruly threads regarding spoilers, right along GoT's OT, which calls for harsher moderation.

Please, I don't like this any more than you do.

I love you all, guys, but five people got mild slaps for not labeling their spoilers as instructed by the rules set in the OP. Others are on watch for similar but fortunately more obtuse comments. Count your blessings.

*Please* keep in mind that this thread needs strict commenting rules so spoilers don't get out of hand as it already happened during previous seasons. We will be watching.

On the topic of spoilers, has a major season finale script/production photo leaked already that *isnt* from the comic?

YouTube just recommended a video with a (potential) major spoiler in the title/thumbnail and I'm wondering if it's legit or just some bedroom youtuber trying to bait an audience.

All you had to say with that gif is:

Gabriel: "Let not your heart be troubled."
Savior: "You're just as dead as me."
Gabriel: "In my father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you."
Savior: "You're all dead."
Gabriel: "I go prepare a place for you."
Savior: "Blood's coming."
Gabriel: "Amen."

I really hope they transform Gabriel into a more prevalent character. A killer who says he's a servent of god or something. Make bible quotes and murder his shtick. So much potenial. They have such a great actor to pull it off.

The most jarring thing so far to me was them having an ultrasound machine and a super clean "hospital" room. It seems like a massive waste of electricity to run a machine like that, not to mention who saves one of these things during a zombie apocalypse? Humans have been giving babies for thousands of years before ultrasound. Just seemed weird to me.

Not really, they had a fully qualified doc there before the current doc, he'd have just requested that the scouts get what he needed.

Ultrasound is useful for far more than measuring the size of an unborn baby.

the bit where they ambushed the 2 guards was amazing, the first one got taken out and then everyone just hides again until the other one came back with the hostage? brilliant!

I kinda thought it seemed to easy at the end though.

Also what have i missed with those 2 going away in the campervan, where are they going?

also why's abe leaving, seems really random

Abe isn't leaving the group, he's just not living with Rosita anymore.

Tara and Heath left on a two week supply run.. They went over it in at least two seperate scenes.

One of my favourite episodes, was genuinely thrilling. Pretty brave to just enter a massive complex like that with no recon. I was actually surprised Glenn hadn't killed a person yet, had to have a think about that. Hard to get one in when Rick's about I suppose. Careless at the end, I instantly wondered where those two were - although interested to see who has them as Maggie and especially Carol are not to be fucked with.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Sensational episode. I'm always blown away by how much better The Walking Dead has gotten as it went along. Maybe all the show runner musical chairs a few years ago was worth it.

It's incredible how quickly they upended all the positive sentiment towards Morgan. He came into Alexandria a complete bad ass, and now here we are a season later where he's become an advocate of nothing but peace. Makes no sense based on where they are in the show.

Just 3-4 chapters before, Daryl was trying to recruit Jesus using their 3-Questions test ("How many humans have you killed?, etc"). Right now, none of the main cast would pass it. Which is kind of amusing and hypocritical of them.

Not in the picture: where Shane is. Rick is not amused.

It's not a question that is supposed to always be answered as '0'. Its more of a lie detector test to see how they react to the question.

The questions are to determine what sort of person they're talking to. Killing someone doesn't "fail" you.

Feels like a lifetime ago that Lori was part of the story (and a bunch of other characters).

Very strange revisiting the first season, in particular.

I tried rewatching the first season. The pilot was awesome, but once I hit the second episode I just...couldn't. I really didn't want to relive the Rick/Shane/Lori love triangle.

Adding to what Funky Papa has said regarding labeling your spoiler tags, below are examples of acceptable and unacceptable use of spoiler tags:

Acceptable

(Comic Spoilers)
I wonder if this episode will follow the events from the comics where [insert spoiler].

Unacceptable

I wonder if this episode will follow the events from the comics where
[insert spoiler].

For everyone else who've been doing an awesome job of keeping with this system, keep it up and feel free to call out other posters who continue to be lazy and inconsiderate with their use of spoiler tags.

is it weird that Jesus is already one of my favorite Characters in this season? Love that dude. Hope he will stick for a long time and join the crew

Yes, the test is to try figuring out what kind of persons they are.

So, if someone had tell them: "We have killed countless amount of persons. We even went into a raid once and dispatched them while sleeping. Well, that's not true, once of us is actually counting her hits (kids count double points). Oh, we also have a reverend that recites verses before going to town.", I'm sure Daryl and the rest would have accepted them. =P

You're forgetting the last question, "Why?"

They're not killing just to kill, or to take their stuff because they can, or to cannibalize them. Context matters, which is why they ask people why they killed humans

he is pretty badass. And there was something really funny about Tara confessing to Father Gabriel while Jesus was overhearing.

I don't read the comics but it is getting ridiculously obvious now who's going die this season. I'll be very disappointed if I guess correctly.

Daryl's been there.

How does it not make sense? Morgan himself would have been considered a lost cause by many but he was saved - multiple times. Of all people, it makes perfect sense for him to advocate rehabilitation. i don't necessarily like it but it definitely makes sense.

Let me have some fun.

Realistically speaking, they have no reason to murder (because that's what it was) the Saviors in the compound:

1) Sure, one of their groups ambushed them. But Daryl had "stolen" their truck.
2) Even if not, they could be a renegade faction, not representing the ideals of the rest.
3) Furthermore, -technically-, they were not there to kill them, just to capture and bring them to Negan. Whom as far as they knew, could have just forgiven and released them.
4) They self-inserted on a conflict between the Saviors and Hilltop. You can argue many things, but the reality is that it wasn't their conflict.
5) For all they know, Hilltop could be the bad guys, and the ones that started the conflict with the Saviors.

Old Rick would not have approved their actions.

Just saw the episode, it was awesome. Season 6 has been amazing so far, honestly one of the best in years. For a show that used to be so hit and miss, they have done an excellent job of keeping the excitement alive this season.

After last weeks episode, I was totally expecting 4 episodes of talking before we met Negan. But the most recent episode blew me away.

I just couldn't sleep thinking about this episode. I was up till 3am and now I'm drowsy at work. But I think it would have been better if Rick did not ambush the saviors :(

Maybe take the guards down or surround them. Then instead of going room by room killing the sleeping saviors, wake them up and tell them to stfu, or ask for the armory location. Hold them hostage or walk them out. Keep them all in a holding pen at least. I just think there are so many ways this could have ended peacefully. I really think Morgan is very important part of the group. He's the moral true north. From that we can see how much they all diverged. Frankly, I dont mind seeing Glenn or Darryl die now. Maybe even Rick. That was a dick move :(

I cant root for these guys anymore...

Killing them in cold blood while they slept was pretty difficult to cheer on, honestly. It's a tough decision to make but I agree that it's hard to root for the group like this. I think Morgan is an embarrassingly illogical person in his own extremes, but I can't get behind this either. There's gotta be a better way.

And fuck Abraham for how he handled things with Rosita. I really hated him for what he said (loved him up until that point, still a great character though).

Yeah, that was incredibly shitty of him.

Not only the way he did it, but because it was just mere hours before the incursion. One they didn't have any guarantees of survival already. He directly put her (and potentially others) in direct harm ways. I was kind of disappointed that it didn't play a part, but pretty sure it will later on.

(And I sort of get his point.. the guilt may be consuming him, and he didn't want to keep the lie any longer. But that was really not the best approach, at all. And Rosita -of all people- didn't deserve it either).

It's really stupid because it doesn't fit Abraham's character at ALL. Makes no sense he'd treat her like that.. not like they had a huge blow out fight or there was even an issue before his decision to tell her he didn't want her anymore. He could have gone about it.. basically any other way and it would have been a step up from what happened on screen.

It was incredibly atrocious writing for an otherwise excellent character. The Walking Dead just assumes that if there's conflict or drama, it's good enough to progress the plot, even if it might not make any sense.

I'm really sick of this lazy writing, honestly. They have absolutely no idea how to write relationships.
