I expect Rick would shoot Negan right in the face while the gates are closed. That's Rick's character. That's the Rick this show has shown us for 7 seasons. Facing immediate death in Terminus, he tells what's his face that he's going to kill him with his machete. Faced with immediate death out in the woods, he bites a dude in the throat.

Now, you can tell me that maybe Negan dies and then someone shoots Rick and then someone (who? who is 2nd in charge? Fucking Dwight?) somehow manages to push his way into Alexandria and maybe everyone dies. Yes, that's a possibility. But you know what, the Rick this show has shown us would have taken that chance.

The sudden "oh no you killed two of my guys really brutally" pussification is laaaaaaame. The couple of guys at the trough in Terminus who had their heads hit with a bat and then their throats slit didn't apparently phase Rick, but now he's phased. He's shook. GTFO.


And Carl not shooting Negan???? :jnc

Crazy Carl takes that shot 100% of the time.

Character development how does that work - Negan even said it this week, this isnt the Rick from a couple months ago. You are nuts if you think what happened the last couple days and loosing someone like Glenn who has been part of the group since Day 1 wont have an effect on Rick.

If you think that Rick could have ended Negan while keeping the group alive - thats your issue. Me, Rick...and the writers dont think so.

Brofessor, you can try to defend this shit all day long but it's so fucking obvious that the writer's of this show care more about cool moments/plot contrivances than any meaningful character development/consistency.

Rick going Rambo on people when he is obviously outmatched is the definition of going against character development and chasing a cool moment. They're trying to hammer in the idea that Rick is very fucked. Have you been paying attention to the show? They've even discussed it among themselves, they're good at taking people down. That's why they decided to chase after Negan's group in the first place. The show is building up the concept that this isn't Terminus or The Governor. These people can't be taken down with a group of untrained suburbanites. Not to mention that most of Rick's key people aren't even there.

Rick going after Negan now, when he is in an even worse position than he was the first time he tried is such a dumb idea. It makes no sense. They got fucked the first time they tried, how would it go better when he has fewer people, and Negan is most likely prepared for it. The entire season finale was about showing how outlcassed Rick's group was. Rick and his people murdered the Saviors in their sleep. Even if Negan died, the other Saviors aren't going to let that slide. They have more weapons, more people, are more organized, and have more fighters. Why would they even consider letting Rick's group endanger them? Even if Negan didn't exist, Rick's group is a danger. They have a purpose...provide. Otherwise they're dead.

Though they've been guilty of this in the past, they're actually not stretching things out based on the source material they're adapting from.

Also- this is "real" Rick. You see, there are these things that happen in narratives called "character arcs", where external (or sometimes internal) forces create situations that change characters or force them to adapt. That's what's happening here.

People are crazy for thinking Rick hasn't had major development and that this doesn't make sense how Rick is hesitant to act against Negan.

What the hell is Rick supposed to do with a town of untrained folks, and a baby, against a shitload of Saviors?? His only options are to endure it until there's some opening, or relocate somewhere far away.

people are always have stupid ass suggestions for characters on this show lol. If characters listened to people here they'd all have died in season 1. That's not to say some characters don't ocasionally do dumb shit (laurie, andrea, etc...) but rick aint one of em this time.

I said it before but I don't mind JDMs build. I think buff Negan would have been cool but ultimately one note. I'm growing to like the semi-flamyboyant portrayel that JDM has going on, including he mannerisms with his licking lips and almost prancing around while doing badass shit.

There's something menacing and cocky about it. He doesn't seem as untouchable as he thinks he is and I think that adds to it too.

it was established a couple seasons ago that Rick can breath fire so i don't know why he doesn't just do that in Negan's face!

Feels like the last 2 episodes are just building, and that is fine.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan's acting continues to be absolutely amazing. As does Andrew Lincolns. I totally believe he is broken and wanting to give in. No illusion.

I wonder how many people who lost their shit at the first episode and declared never to watch TWD again have stuck to their plea? lol

Also the uncensored takes, are they going to be for Blu Ray only?

JDM is great but just too much over the top dialogue and performance. 4 episodes in and i'm already tired of the slow burn. Need some heads to start rolling.

Did you guys watch a different episode to me? Rick's playing along with Negan. There were three or four moments where you see through the act - the look which passes over his face when Negan shows him the bearded Rick video and saying he wouldn't have fucked with that guy, Rick tightening his grip on Lucille a couple of times, the hint of a smile when he looks at the sign outside of New Alexandria and his warning to whatshisface. Even Negan himself said he's not quite sure if Rick's fucking with him.

And maybe I heard wrong but didnt they hid guns in the grave?

I mean they already lied about Maggie which is a risk because Rick knows Negan knows where that other place is. Did they even tell Maggie to lay low, we are gonna tell Negan you are dead? If not...huge risk. If they did, its all part of a bigger plan.

That would leave Maggie, Carol and Morgan out there as X factors.

Yall are underestimating Rick...like Negan is doing....lol.

Rick's acting saved the episode. The panic on his face finding those guns and the way he admitted that Judith wasn't his but he had to accept it...wow. Andrew Lincoln has come a long way.

As for JDM, I think it might be a good thing that he's not in every episode. Otherwise the cheesy dialogue and cartoon character demeanor of a Neegan would really wear thin...pun intended.

The thing is that Rick understands that he's not going to achieve anything by killing Negan the person. He needs to kill Negan the idea. It's not like with the governor that once he died his people just splitted up.

I never said that Rick and Co. will never be able to fight back - now just wasnt the time, a fact that you doesnt seem to understand.

What a shitty episode. You can't just have a whole episode of Neagan doing his campy ass grinning badguy asshole thing. You have to keep it sparing or it just gets annoying. By having him on screen this much and having no depth or dimension at all he's turned into a simple cartoon. Depthless cartoon characters aren't scary. After the umpteenth time he grinned and said something dickish it just became comical. All tension is drained away.

Meanwhile I just kept thinking why didn't they shoot him the minute he walked up to the gate? Just kill him. Wipe out the group. They'd be leaderless and most his people hate him anyway so they probably wouldn't come back, and if they did, leaderless, they'd be easier to deal with.

I don't get it.
