‘The Walking Dead’ – Season 7, Part 1 – Sundays on AMC

Anyone feel the worst part about the deaths is how there was nothing left of the victims' heads? Seems hard enough for them to cope next to the body of a loved one, but for every essence of their entire head and face to be destroyed, that's haunting shit.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
The mistake they made was thinking that after a few months of not having TWD on TV, that anybody would give a shit. My reaction was "oh right, it was those two, then". I might have actually cared if they'd just shown us at the end of S6.

Anyway, the saddest part of the whole thing is that they don't kill off Negan. That asshat jester routine is getting old real quick.

So I've really given it a lot of thought since last night and I think this might be my jumping off point for this show.

I guess the writers did their job because I sure as shit feel terrible seeing what happened. I got spoiled weeks ago but was not prepared for the level of graphic detail seeing Glen trying to talk with an eyeball popped out and half his head beaten in. I feel like I've seen it all in this show now as mentioned in previous posts. I've always shrugged off the 'gore porn' charge that some people have thrown at the show because for me it was always about this core group of characters trying to survive. I guess at this point I don't even care anymore.

See, if I woke up tomorrow in a world full of people like Negan, I would take a big gulp of a big bullet. I would not even want to live in a world like this under the scenario and circumstances that Rick and co. find themselves in.

I guess if I could sum it up I would say that I'm sick of watching the destruction of humanity and seeing how low we can go with it. I'd like to watch something about the con-struction of humanity and something a little more positive. I don't want to derail the thread with this comparison but for me I can kind of equate this to Zach Snyder's DC universe and his version of Superman. Affleck is right in the sense that a lot of us don't want to see our heroes deconstructed in a certain way. I literally abhor Snyder's vision of Superman. His Superman is dark, brooding, prone to fits of anger, and doesn't smile very much. This isn't the Superman I grew up with and it's jarring and uncomfortable to me. The Superman i grew up with was a beacon of hope for humanity. Maybe that version wouldn't play well with audiences today. Maybe I'm just too fucking old for the new entertainment.

Judging by Glenn's makeup we suffered a rope-a-dope here people. This was never a zombie show. It was a reboot of Toxic Avenger.

I just got caught up and it was complete bullshit that it was Abe that got smashed. It should have been Glen, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie or Carl. Those characters have far too much plot armor. It would have had much more impact if they had a pregnant woman beaten to death.

Edit:: Oh shit they actually did it

Agreed. It wasn't worth the wait. Honestly didn't live up to the hype at all and the gore was just over the top.

Did you see the entire episode?

Great premiere. Glad Glenn is dead because I could never take him serious after the dumpster episode. Going to miss Abe though he was a funny dude. Thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan was great as Negan. So as someone who was starting to get rather tired of the show I feel this episode did a great job of bringing me right back in.

Carl is turning into a stone cold serial killer. This show will go on forever and Carl will take Rick's place.

man, this show could really use some fucks....it would have added a lot to Negans character.

Main problem with this show not being a netflix show. Then again, maybe the problem is America, they have no problem showing someone getting a baseball bat to the dome, literally. They even show the outcome of such a hit and yet they can't use the word fuck. Come to think of it, fuck - and its variations - and cunt are the only words I can think of that networks are too scared shitless to play. Shit, bitch, pussy, dick, etc are all played.

That's what the Blu-ray version is for. Shame that they just don't silence the word instead.

Do the previous Blu Ray releases have the word fuck? I remember Rick's "They don't know who they are messing with" line and just immediately thinking it would have worked a lot better with fucking.

It's wonderful that they did glen just like the comics, but the rest of that episode really shines a light on how much TWD does television wrong. Thing is edited like a reality show.

The most infuriating part is that Daryl's plot armor is still so strong. Especially with him sucker punching Negan. If he just didn't get killed, fine. No surprise. But he actually attacks Negan and Negan all but looks directly at the camera and says, "No, not him! He's too special!" If they had balls, it would've been him. But he's still got more pain to feel, so they'll show him crying all season and probably off another character or two before him.

You would lose half the viewership if you offed Daryl. More maybe. This is a fantasy world and he is the person most people live vicariously through.

But they pull the "Daryl almost gets killed but some more interesting character dies instead just so he can cry again" over and over. The way they did it this time was so absurd that it borders on comical.

The fact that all three of the people closest to Maggie were killed as a result of losing their heads in some way (decapitation, gunshot, and now bludgeoning) is just salt in the wound.

On another note, I share in the skepticism that Steven Yeun will have much work lined up for him as a result of how things usually go in Hollywood (which is unfortunate, as I would like to see him show up elsewhere).

The producers love Daryl because they own all the rights to him - cash from merchandise etc. goes straight in their pocket without having to pay Kirkman.

The worst part about all of this is the predictable, drawn out snooze fest likely to be all of S7.

Ugh, yeah it's going to be awful. First half will be Negan flashbacks, too.

Really tempted to just not watch it until Christmas or the summer and then just hit all of them.

I didn't watch last season whatsoever. I just jumped right into tonight's episode. Is there any reason for me to go back and watch last season?

There are no interesting characters on TWD.

It's a shame that even in 2016 people are still afraid of the word fuck.

I was more offended by the word "shit". Not the word itself, but the sheer quantity of times Negan uses it. The guy needs this:

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I don't know if it was "best episode ever", but it was certainly gripping and left me excited for the rest of the season. I agree that stuff like the AVClub C- review is just indicative of people who probably shouldn't be reviewing a show that they don't like.

My mom just called me crying after watching. Glenn was her favorite character. She called it the most disturbing thing she's ever seen but she still loved it. She really liked the psychological horror stuff of Negan breaking Rick. The psychological stuff is what got to me more than the beatings. But they sure did nail the sound of beating somebody over the head with a baseball bat. I won't forget that sound anytime soon.

It wasn't the comic that killed Glenn, it was Darryl. Well it was neegan and the writers but I still blame him and maybe Maggie will call him on it.
