I think what makes Negan scary is that he's up front about things. He isn't trying to hide what they're all about like The Governor or the Termites.
I agree that in hindsight I think it was a good decision to end before the kill. Seeing it all play out and then having that moment with all of them sitting there and then driving home was just perfect.Quickfire impressions from me:
- The feeling of dread, tension, and depravity that sat with me before, during, and after issue 100 of the comics was topped in this premiere over 100 fold. I was coming in almost waiting for Aaron or Eugene to get it. Props to Gimple and Kirkman for staying true.
- Abe and Glenn meeting Lucille were the right choices. Their deaths will have the most lasting impact on the group.
- I love that Daryl was taken. Rick just lost 3 of his most trusted lieutenants. The badass right-hand man quota was getting too ridiculous. Now he's down to just Michonne and Jesus until they find Carol and Morgan.
- I'm almost glad that they did the cliffhanger now. The last 15-20 minutes of the Season 6 finale were so good and it made it so the tension carried over into another whole episode.
- JDM is a fucking LEGEND. Way more hyped for the rest of the season than I was coming into this.
Agreed. I adore them. Seeing them all on Talking Dead really made it feel like they were saying goodbye to a couple of real family members.
Why are some people acting like Glenn didn't shoot a bunch of Negan's people and stabbed someone in the head while they were sleeping? I know the show is focused on this group and that's why everyone grows attached to these characters, but let's not act like they were saints.
There were multiple moments where Rick could have just axed him in the back of the head, but then again this is the show that lowered Glenn into an already contaminated zombie-infested well in Season 2 and routinely puts themselves into danger, so im not surprised.
Why are they so afraid of the F word on this show? Didn't Breaking Bad use it frequently on the same network?

Why exactly is it cheap? I don't know what you mean. I consider it the best episode they've done for what it did to my emotions.

Not to excuse them, but they did it quickly, and not torturing them.
I never saw them as saints, but let's also not pretend they murdered those people for shits and giggles. Glenn didn't want to do it and his face was visibly disgusted after he did it the first time. Heck it was an awful experience didn't want Heath to go through the same thing.
That hasn't been the cycle for at almost two seasons Now it's protect new home, meet and maybe form alliances with new groups. And at this point is not the show I have an issue with. It's the whole Walking Dead story. It's never ending, and this cycle of finding a new place, meeting bad people, surviving, shit hitting the fan, and finding a new place is not exciting anymore.

Well, thought about Glenn's busted eyeball all day today. Touche' AMC.
Yeah, Christ. That type of head trauma/trying to talk always gets me.It was pretty gross. I did appreciate they had him talk. That really increased the disturbing factor and gave me remember that scene in The Fly.
Remember Rick's group were the ones who said let's kill them so we can get more stuff from Jesus' group. Morgan even warned them that they shouldn't do it. Rick and everyone felt overconfident and now that someone out there is crazier than they are they're like "please don't hurt us."
Even if Glenn didn't feel right doing it, you can't erase the fact that he killed those people. They're the heroes to us and Negan was this crazy before he met this group, but this is the one time where the bad guys didn't come to them first so things are a bit more complicated.
Yes you are right, they did attack first, but they saw them as future threats. They just managed to be smart about it and got a deal out of it with Jesus's group out of it.
I'm not ignoring, pretending they didn't or erasing that they killed those people. They did what they thought was best for them, and their neighbors. They actually sort of validated their reasons for doing so when they found all those Polaroids on the wall of one of the Saviors. Rick's group most definitely did not torture, coerce them into submission, or make examples of them.
Again, I don't see them as saints, or even heroes, but I don't think the context is the between the two groups actions and reasons are the same.
I think the Saviors would have found them eventually tho.
Rick could have easily overpowered Negan if he just knocked the rifle out of his hands. Even with a big ass leather coat on JDM still looks 40 pounds lighter than Lincoln.
The biggest bummer out of this is the apocalyptic world just got a lot less diverse.
Jeffery Dean Morgan is amazing. Feels bad enjoying his performance because he's a crazy asshole, but my god the dude is having so much fun playing the ultimate heel.
I'm just thinking. It would have been awesome to have Abe killed in the S6 finale. And then have Glen get killed in the S7 opener. Have the audience thinking that everyone's safe, then BAM. There goes a Day one. You guys think that would have been cool or nah?

Yeah his wandering off is what got Glenn captured in the first place that shit is all on him. It's going to be hard going forward not to hate Daryl, if he had stayed sat Glen would be alive.
Plus his wandering off at the end of season 6 got a lot of the group captured.
Goddamn. This woulda caused even more uproarI know they filmed everyone getting the bop, but I'm not sure how detailed. Here's Maggie getting it. I'm sure its been posted.

The "I'll find you" is more gut-wrenching to me.
Could anyone makeout what Glen was trying to say when he got hit in the head?Yeah, Christ. That type of head trauma/trying to talk always gets me.
Fuck, he's never going to forgive himself. I mean look how he took Denise's death and he didn't even know her that long. Hopefully after 6 seasons of being a hothead he's finally learned. Going to be interesting to see what the writers do with him now going forward.Well, he doesn't have to worry about Daryl anymore. Seems like he'll be pretty broken for a while.

My favorite thing about terrible TV moments is the reaction videos that come from it.
Any good ones for last night's ep? I tried looking it up, my google-fu was weak.

Hey guy, I've seen every ep of twd so far, but some of the reactions here gross me out to a point of not wwatching. Is Glenn's death really tthat ggruesome?

In my 30 years I've seen some nasty, repugnant shit across movies, cable TV shows and premium TV channel shows. In those 30 years, I can only count on one hand how many times I actually found myself looking away and gagging.... this was one of those times .
EDIT: The emotional aspect of it makes it 100x worse than in the comic.
