They could do the flashbacks in normal order and end season 2 with Joel getting clubbed. TLOU2 was filled with Joel during cutscenes. Season 3 could be Abby vs Ellie.
The show is gonna Walking Dead itself because it'll have to, thanks to the games.

Nice. And its only going to get bigger. Word of mouth this week was quite loud.

They must regret TLOU2 story now that they have Pedro Pascal on board. They have to rewrite the whole thing (it was a mess anyway).

Abby actress will be the most hated actress in the history of the medium. Good luck to they/them.

Walking Dead survived without Rick Grimes.

And regarding Abby - No her actor wont be hated. You'll come to realize with this TV audience that the GAMING audience is the problem. Fickle, immature and stupid. The shows audience will not be half as toxic. Bet on it. Been there done that on television. Gamers cant handle certain story beats and characters. Thus they react like upset children.

Just played the game again until the death of a character and it is clearly better in the game. I could not say exactly what is better, but it worked much better for me and you see the character in the game for 5 minutes.
Everything in the game is "clearly better" to me going by the first episode. Night and day.
But I feel this is a decent alternative for those not into videogames (or Sony haters for that matter).

The opening sequence was cool though, and clearly better directed than most of the episode.
Also liked the new Joel PTSD scene, so there's definitely stuff to appreciate even for those super familiar with the game.

Sony takes a big IP (Spider-Man) and the game ends up being one of the most successful games.

They won't rewrite it, it'll be a faithful adaptation.

That said, we'll see whether or not Bella Ramsay can carry the show forward without Pedro Pascal.

Gaf is a afraid to talk about the show. You know why. That being said, I'll prolly wait til its over to watch it. Theres nothing new compared to the game so no point. Id rather just replay the games when they both launch on PC.

Are you serious? Half the people on Gaf want Neil Druckmann to impregnate them. There's never been a shortage of TLOU discussion on here.

That's a long series of movies where after generations of people watching them, things went south. People were really invested in that IP for decades. Not defending the reactions...but yeah. It's not like TLOU.

If people survived the end of GoT season 1 AND 3, they will survive Joel dying.

I agree with your top part, but as for your bottom sentence I don't think it's quite the same circumstances. Ned and Robb dying was a big gut punch to the audience, but Game of Thrones was more than just Ned and Robb. It had entire cast of amazingly written characters, each with their own engaging stories. I don't think Season 2 of TLOU will tank and be a huge failure. That's hyperbolic bullshit. But will it slip in it's viewership numbers? I honestly don't know. It really could go either way. Bella Ramsay is good as Ellie so far, but is she good enough to carry the show forward without Pedro Pascal? This isn't a game where we the players are engaged and playing as Ellie and having fun killing enemies. The story is being told in a different format now. If Pedro Pascal is by far the best part of the show and the biggest selling point to viewers, are they all going to stick around?

Is it's smart and thus let's the viewer figure stuff out on its own or a exposition fest and inter personal drama building bore fest with a side of sub plots that could be considered filler. Ans the occasional action scene

Any gore?

People petitioned until they got Daniel Jackson back on SG-1. People ditched 24 as soon as Kiefer was gone. People left TWD when Glenn died brutally. It just depends on if its done well or not.

In the end, this is pretty big deal insofar as this is the first video game IP to translate to TV/Movies in a very real "Adult" kind of way (as opposed to a Sonic movie or something).

The powers that be have been looking for more IP to tap into after the success of Marvel. They know that video games are a huge medium that make a ton of money, so they know its out there and people will spend it.

This shows, it can be done. TLOU was "easy" as it follows a narrative structure not unlike a TV show or movie. The "game" part of the game was all in service to the narrative. Usually, that isn't the case in video games. I'm very curious what the next step will be.

Smart folks will have to really focus on the types of games they try and translate rather than just porting over popular IPs (see contra, Elden Ring into a tv show...nah).

Season 2 they should cure the virus and then make it a show about construction as they rebuild the world.

It's incredible. Loved every bit of that first episode. Felt very meaty and gave us a lot to take in. Excellent acting. Whoever claimed the girl playing Ellie wasn't up to the task was way wrong. And Pedro Pascal is an excellent Joel. People foolishly assumed the girl playing Ellie wouldn't be up to the task for very foolish reasons. They hadn't seen enough of her range and how she would act. And another more pitiful group is judging the girl by her appearance, which I've seen a lot of over the internet.

Excellent production value, excellent writing, excellent acting. They've perfectly captured the Last of Us in TV Show form.

Not really, it been done before with Negan & Glenn.
It'll have the comparisons drawn to it more so now due to it being a TV show now and similar genre.

(Spoiler ahead)

The part where it ended in episode 1 is about the ~10% mark in the game. So with that, and if we get 10 episodes this season, would mean the we have TLOU1 covered in 1 season. Season 2 would be the final season then? (also sans Pedro/Joel?)

And theres enough flashbacks of joel to keep pedro in season 2 for a while, especially fi they split the season up and do even more flashbacks

At least we get one good season out if it. If Netflix / disney had bought the rights, the show would've been dead from the start.

Walking Dead already did everything this show is going to do in Season 2 first and survived for 11 seasons plus literally 5 spin offs. As I said, the TV audience aren't cry babies. Its gamers. Immature and fickle.

Negan + Glen and Abraham
Rick written off
Carl dead (doesnt happen in the comics at all)
Michonne written off

Literally from WD fanbase:

User 1 "Not even close, dude. Negan's actions were justified storytelling-wise. Abbyzilla's were the product of SJW agenda interfering with the writingm"

User 2 "Don't even compare that Abby shit with the walking dead , last of us 2 was a complete utter mess with feminist agendas, And it made so much sense that Rick spared negan beacuse he had to make Carl's vision come true after his death , There was no goddamm logic in Ellie sparing Abby . It's like The last of us 2 stole the whole story from walking dead's negan war arc , but turned it into a nonsensical agenda bullshit ."

User 3 "yap..only difference is that in TWD it all make great build up and storyline is great and another one is LGBT crap, just shock effect non sense shit...In TWD they kill Glenn but we got Negan as character and in the They Lie to us they kill Joel and gave us woman in body of Vin Diesel just to send message that women's are strong...and also Anita Sarkisien have fingers in game development..feminist who hate male gender..."

I really feel only cry babies are people incapable of handle warranted criticism without resorting to insults and shameless generalizations. Literally children behavior.

Or the opposite of them for what it's worth, like 90% of the salty clueless imbeciles posting nonsense in the other Thread about TLOU story.

Difference is TWD started as one thing, then became another thing. I drew that line a long time before them stormtrooper joined. Fucking on going drama with no real substance, too many characters with not much of a character. TLOU might've not invented it all, but it damn sure did it better than TWD. And don't even get me started on the spin offs.

I also wouldn't say tv audience aren't crybabies.

I just don't get all the stupid TV Audiences vs Gamers. Every set has level headed folk, and every set has immature assholes.

I agree about the Walking Dead, season 1 started out great; then by season 3 it had devolved into a boring soap opera. Last of US show can learn from those mistakes. It can even learn from the backlash to Part 2's story decisions and change things up.

Why rail on gamers like that ? As i said in another comment, every set of fans has good and bad people. There are enough people i see simply on GAF and Reddit that didn't have a problem with Part 2's story. I am one of them. Sure they could change things around to make things better for season 2 of the show.

There is every reason to expect a good rest of Season 1 and an equally good season 2; even if another show has supposedly done it well.

I personally disagree about The Walking Dead being good though, it completely went off the rails season 3 onwards.

I expect something like this. It would take some rewriting to sequence Season 2 in a way that Joel is with us till almost the end of the season, without resorting to flashbacks, then meets a fate somewhat similar to the game. I'm sure Mazin and Druckmann can manage that.

This isnt gonna be a show that lastst 4/5 seasons. The writer already said he doesnt like filler and doesnt like shows that keep spinning over into itself.

Cmon guys. Stop talking about "omg I wonder what they will do for Season2!!" Holy shit.
