In the end, this is pretty big deal insofar as this is the first video game IP to translate to TV/Movies in a very real "Adult" kind of way (as opposed to a Sonic movie or something).
The powers that be have been looking for more IP to tap into after the success of Marvel. They know that video games are a huge medium that make a ton of money, so they know its out there and people will spend it.
This shows, it can be done. TLOU was "easy" as it follows a narrative structure not unlike a TV show or movie. The "game" part of the game was all in service to the narrative. Usually, that isn't the case in video games. I'm very curious what the next step will be.
Smart folks will have to really focus on the types of games they try and translate rather than just porting over popular IPs (see contra, Elden Ring into a tv show...nah).
