I loved this shit, I doubt Pepsi will ever bring it back, though. :-(

On the flip side, best food item that flopped: Pepsi Blue

I loved this stuff, drank a bottle almost everyday. It's demise was one of the great American tragedies.

I shed a tear...

That was my favorite soda. The only way I can describe it is 'carbonated gummi bears'. Mountain Dew Voltage is the closest thing I've had since... but it had that Mountain Dewy aftertaste...you know what I'm talking about, right?

Kind of strange seeing Reddi-Bacon on the list, as there are about ten different companies selling the exact same concept today.

What the hell does the Pepsi Ice Cucumber even taste like?

"It's like I'm drinking a sweetened salad."

There's a Seattle-based company called DRY Soda that makes a cucumber variety which is quite good, and uses far fewer trashy ingredients than whatever is in Pepsi. The taste is really crisp, light and not at all overpowering-ly "vegetable" -- very refreshing. Their lavender soda is nice, too.

FIRST YOU SAY WHOA
THEN YOU SAY YEAH

Awful advertising, awful drink. Carbonated gummy bears indeed... gross.

That sounds delicious, and I loved Coca-Cola Blak too.

Here is my contribution, as I bought a couple of these back in the day...

This wouldn't actually be too bad, we people of asia have something similar: Coffee flavoured Grass Jelly

when I was in high school they first introduced this stuff and in our cafeteria they had a soda machine with nothing but surge in it, and they were selling it for 35 cents a can! needless to say I was wired that whole school year on the stuff. This stuff also led to my first cavity

Weird about the Vanilla Coke not being available in some areas. Here in SoCal I find it all the time.

And Reddi-Bacon had a good idea, their follow thru just sucked- I eat microwavable bacon all the time. Good shit, and its quick.

I hate to turn this into a pop topic, but why the hell is this stuff gone?
They still sell Pepsi Lime around where I live.

I think.

I haven't bought soda in a while.

Holy shit Funky Fries! I was hanging out with a bunch of friends, and three of us went to find food. We found these and laughed because they sounded so disgusting. Naturally we bought the chocolate variety to cook with the other food for our friends. We took them down and everyone cussed us out, unaware that there was legit food upstairs too.

They tasted like brownie batter. Which isn't too bad, except that it was mushy, oil filled oven fries that had this flavor. Yuck. That summer we had an acquaintance who was living off of Social Security money (his mother died when he was like 15) that was ending soon as he was now an adult. He responded by buying all the shitty junk food he could to live off (to have as much money as possible for booze & caffeinated beverages). He ate basically the entire cookie sheet of Funky Fries dipped in store brand honey barbecue sauce, because we wouldn't let him dip it in the nacho dip we made. Nasty.

The Cheeseburger Doritos are fucking awful. I tried them when they were "X-13D." I ate one and nearly threw up. The fucking smell of the powder was on my hand for two days, I scrubbed and scrubbed and it would not come off. I can't believe that Frito-Lay is selling these as an actual flavor.

I don't know if there still is, but growing up in New Zealand there was Cola-flavoured jello. It was a pretty decent flavour.

Shit! Pepsi AM?! I never knew about that. Probably because I was 9 in 1989... Bring that shit back!
If I'm remembering correctly, they didn't market it very well. I was always under the impression that Pepsi AM added vitamins, not that it was Pepsi with a ton of caffeine.

You are my worst enemy.

Then again, I would probably hate it if I tried it now. I've lost my taste for ultra sugar shit, I don't touch soda anymore. Plus, if it doesn't have alcohol in it, theres no point in drinking it for me.

themadcowtipper

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.
Protip: the longer you go without having something, the better you remember it tasting.

The can be the only reason for all the Pepsi Blue love.

I remember liking Orbitz. I couldn't for the life of me remember or find on the Internet what drink had the floating balls until a few years ago later. Brings up some fun memories.

The food I'm most glad never took off is green ketchup. That was the nastiest nasty I've ever had.

When pepsi blue was out it was pretty much the only thing i would drink. I was a extremely lucky kid to not ever get cavities.

You clearly didn't take the opportunity to mix pepsi blue and vodka.

Ha, I remember making my mom getting me that when I was younger. :lol

I'm also disappointed that Pepsi Blue didn't last as long as it did. So good when it was cold and you drank it with a few ice cubes.

does anyone remember the rainbow-coloured Wonder white bread that they sold (ate it when i was younger so it was definitely still around in the 90's)

looked a bit like this, but more rainbowy and not so neon, with a lot more colours:

It looks awesome, I would buy that just so see the weird colors of poop I'd have over the next few days.

pepsi blue was amazing. I even made a thread about it a few years ago. supposedly (at least like 2-3 years ago) it was still available in Mexico.

Check if it still is.

If so, I'm moving to Mexico motherfuckers.

YES, iirc these things were delicious. I think a few other chip brands came in 3D which were also really good. May have been Cheetos.
