10 PS4 'Neo' Game Upgrades That Must Be Made - Digital Foundry

Sure, but unlike GTAV these games probably wont be as active and still make money by the time the Neo comes out.

GTAV MP for all I know (I don´t play it) still makes a ton of cash.

Ohhh, I misunderstood your post. You meant in a business and active community/player base sense? I agree then!

In 2014 we saw higher grade PC footage for FFXV that demonstrated better lighting, IQ, environment density and draw distance than what we've seen running on PS4.

Even if the game is fairly stable at launch and perhaps even with a decent IQ, it will sacrifice of most likely stripping down those elements a bit more.

Have a look for yourself to gain a better sense of this engines capabilities even in 2014. (the forest itself is particularly great).

I hope a Neo version brings some of these things back.

Its gonna be janky when it launches by default, even with the months of optimization. I think they will end up settling the res at 1440x1080 and making the framerate as solid as possible on PS4...that will give neo a lot of legroom

How can you even know that? Whens the last mainline FF game with major performance issues?

The last two 13 games on both platforms which barely stayed over 25 FPS in average play.

And your talking about a game that has been in development on an engine they are working as on they make it...

Guys, more power isn't going to make Bloodborne smooth. The devs would have to figure out what frame pacing is first.

I don't think anyone considers those mainline games, just like 10-2 isn't considered a mainline FF game. Also I looked at the the framerate for Duscae and for a demo that came out 1.5 years before the game comes I'd say things are looking really good. Only glaring issue in that demo was the summon.

There's nothing wrong with that. Creating XV alongside the engine was pretty much a necessity in building proper development tools in the engine. Snowdrop was made alongside The Division; Battlefield was created in parallel with Frostbite. The whole issue with Luminous originally was due to the fact that they didn't create a game alongside it, instead they used a real-time cutscene as the project to support Luminous development and that ended up causing problems.

I'm with them with a few of those titles but Uncharted 4 30 to 60fps? with what I've been hearing about the game graphically how likely could that possibly happen?

60fps Bloodborne means insta neo sale. Ball is in your hands, Sony.

Good list... i would also throw in the assassin creed games. they could use the added horsepower for a stable frame rate and higher resolution.

I love how Starwars Battlefront, as a 60fps game it already is, is only listed for a resolution upgrade and not other details, it kicks ass on the current PS4. And indeed, it should be as easy as flicking a switch for DICE to increase the resolution, with twice the GPU, and with margin to spare.

Its a problem when SE does it, cause they can never seem to get it right.
