lmao this is the perfect gif

I'm going to ignore all reviews and dive in day one. I trust Ready at Dawn. Usually I'm cautious with my purchases but don't mind slipping occasionally to take a chance. Did that with Mafia 2 and thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Hold on, is this the Italian chap's video? (I'm not going to peruse it).

If so, he said he'd give it a 9/10, it was outstanding, and what he streamed he deliberately didn't do much to avoid spoilers.

The shadows have a very greenish tint in the beginning. I thought it was the youtube compression, but then when he goes out of the roundtable room, it's gone.

By the way, I do believe copies have started to leak. I use this site called psnprofiles.com which tracks game progress, statistics etc. A couple days ago, it showed that only 1-2 people owned the game. Today it shows that 6 people own it. Me? I'm just waiting impatiently lol.

Fortunately, there just so happens to be 'gameplay' like this to go along with all of the gawking at the visuals:

Do you honestly think that walking around is all you do?

That isn't really demonstrating gameplay though. Just graphical effects.

From what I have seen, this looks a lot like a very impressive looking take on Gears of War, with more cut scenes. There is also a lot of "shoot this", "now shoot that" going on.

Reviews should be interesting. I really think it could go either way.

I'm pretty sure there was a mention that some Sony employees have received the game some time ago. They could easily be playing it as we speak, and yet there would be no leaks as such as those are distributed intentionally.

All these bits leaked to the wilds do indicate some leaking though.

How is it not demonstrating gameplay?

Am I going crazy here?

Yes, the gameplay and player commentary is all in Italian. So unless you speak it, you won't be getting too much spoilers as it's all dialogue and cutscenes with no combat shown.

I scrubbed through it just to see something besides the bazillion different playthroughs of the kitchen on the dirigible, and it looks like it's from the beginning with a lot of the setup and getting your gear.

One thing that looked interesting, is that when Galahad picks something up, it appears that you can inspect it by moving the analog sticks around, and doing so manipulates his hands in game, similar to how you moved as a baby in AssCreed 2. Kinda neat how they connected controller movements to hand movements in that way.

So you're telling me a 2 second long gif of someone getting shot is representative of gameplay, and is enough to enable you to make any assumptions about the quality of a game or how it plays?

Right...

Yep, day zero confirmed

It does demonstrates gameplay. One facet of it, which is the combat.

It doesn't demonstrate the level/encounter/etc design, aka the whole package of combat design.

But it doesn't mean that without showing all those extra elements, it's not demonstrating gameplay. It just hasn't demonstrated all of the other factors that make the difference between a bad, competent, good or excellent third-person shooter.

You're being purposefully obtuse.

The point of the gifs is to show you that it isn't all walking around like you're complaining it is, but that it also is a shooter at it's core and thus also contains segments which feature this type of gameplay. It's not supposed to enable you to make an assumption about the quality of the game but simply to inform you that it isn't all walking.

The fact that this needed to be demonstrated is hilarious to me and shows how far we have fallen as a society

Which is my point. It doesn't really do anything of any use other than show of some neat graphic effects.

For pointing out that gifs aren't much use for demonstrating gameplay?

Way to miss a point spectacularly.

These gifs are from the gameplay videos and one of those is from a 30 min demo.
I didn't get why it is hard to understand for you.check the original video for GAMEPLAY

It's normal to say whatever gameplay you see you are not happy with , but saying that there is no gameplay is absurd.

I think I might just shift my PS4 purchase to an earlier date.

Does anyone know if the german version will also have the english language on disk?

It shows you that the gunplay is phenomenal, which is part of "gameplay".

Of course gunplay doesn't tell you everything, but we can't possibly tell how good the level design or encounter design of the game is, & the default judgment isn't "every possible remaining aspect is bad until we are shown is good" like how The Order is being arbitrarily judged, it's supposed to be "every remaining aspect is unknown".

What we know is that the gunplay is phenomenal, we're gonna judge the rest when the game releases, & based on the developer's history, it's far more likely that the level design & encounter design is good.

It's a shooter. What exactly do you want to see?

Guy posted a few gifs and said that "there happens to be gameplay like this..."

I just don't think that he made a point very well. I fail to see how a gif demonstrates or proves much at all.

Of course there is more than one type of gun. Of course there is shooting. We know that.

I'm not moving goalposts, and i would expect to see shooting in a shooter.

I think its you guys who are moving goalposts and being obtuse.

Still wiaiting for my review copy. Hoping for next week.

You heard anything about the supposed press preview embargo date of 10th? Weerasuriya and some RAD/Sony folk has been travelling for a press tour to showcase the game to both press and public. We know Ru's been to Japan, Taipei and Vegas in the past week, for one.

And then there's The Order event at London on the 12th, as well.

I just think that people are saying that, by your reasoning, the only way to show "gameplay" is to play the game.
Which kind of invalidates any "no gameplay" arguments anyway.

this may be one of the dumbest conversations in the history of the internet

" oh man check out the Order gameplay! looks amazing! "

" ha, yeah * gameplay "

" it is gameplay ... what are you talking about "

" nothing is happening! hes just walking! "

" ok there, he just fired a round while walking, so ... hes not just walking anymore ... its in - game gameplay "

" yeah this is bullshit "

" no its not "

" yes it is "

" what? "

" huh? "

" fuck this, this game sucks "

Holy shit The Order threads always bring the best out of some GAF members.

No they're correct. A GIF of a player kicking the ball in FIFA 15 is a GIF of the game's gameplay.
A GIF of the player shooting an enemy in The Order is also a GIF about the game's gameplay.
Perhaps you're just using the wrong words to describe what you mean.

Did The Last of Us get this much flak from the community? Its gameplay was by no means revolutionary but we all know how the game ended up.
