That is a supremely fascinanting subject.

After reading these articles as well as another ones regarding how Chinese men view Laowai VS Chinese woman's view of them, it would seem to me that there's a huge gender incommunication barrier between Chinese man and woman.

For what I gathered, it amounted to something along these lines:

China men: There you go, money, moar money, real state properties, cars, jobs, have them all, please love me now or something, I've got a hugeass family preassure over me in order to get married, help me to do it, please!

China woman: You know, it would be great if you have actual manners, interesting conversation, a bit more of independence and value quality of life over, say, getting married per se. Also, westerners are hot too, western media told me so.

China men: You materialistic harlot, how dare you to refuse my offering? I've done several great efforts to please you, yet you keep going out with Laowai!

China woman: Did you hear anything that I said before about which qualities I appreciate in a man?

China men: Nope. Did your mouth actually emitted sounds while it was moving?

China woman: *Goes with western men*

China men: *Writes Internet rant despising Chinese girls*

That's actually who many of the Muslim extremists are. It's so expensive to get married in the Middle East, and there is high unemployment, and they can't have sex until marriage, so you end up with sexually frustrated men being promised 72 virgins and a paycheck to attack America.

Some posts here...

1. It's not about sex. It's about companionship and continuing your line, which you can't cause there are no women.

2. One child policy doesn't really mean one child only, and it hasn't for awhile. A very unfortunate misnomer. It was, however, a policy that wasn't given much thought on long term effects besides 'get population down or we're fucked'

3. Prostitution illegal?! It's 'illegal' in other countries too. Doesn't stop it.

4. Girls going after Chinese guys? Hah! I will admit it has gotten a lot better in recent years...though I still come across Chinese females who want nothing to do with their counterparts. Nobody bats an eye when girls say that though.

Edit bonus 5. Subservient Chinese women?! Have none of you seen the older Chinese ladies around in supermarkets?

Alcohol will only make these bachelors much more frustrated, they'll be going to brothels and strip clubs and waking up alone and with no family.

People are speculating that there will be some social revolution because of this, that seems unlikely. In a culture where these bachelors over 30 will be shamed for not having the finances to get a wife, we'll just see a higher suicide rate.

I have a friend who married a Chinese girl who was here in Canada with some sort skilled worker VISA. They only saw each other on the weekends and 3 weeks later he proposed and she unsurprisingly said yes. They prepared a huge wedding and married 2 months later...everything was so rushed WTF....These women will do anything to come to NA.

They could be shamed or they could just turn into those Japanese guys who game, watch shows, and obsess over females in media all the time, bit stay lonely.

Didn't China allow practices like female infanticide? I'm not sure if they still do it, but thats probably the main reason their having this problem now. India is probably having the same type of problem too.

It's not allowed at all. Government is staunchly against it. One of many things you actually can blame on the people and culture.

Same in Korea and I heard it was this way in Japan as well, but I cannot confirm that.

You know the worst part? Even women are against female children. Well, the ones that grew up with the very traditional thinking anyway. It's fucked up when women don't even value women.

Also, infanticide might be a too strong. I hear more people just putting up the girls for adoption than anything. That's why you see more Chinese girls being adopted by western couples. I recently saw a customer with an adopted Chinese daughter. Plus, one of he hand was deformed. Sucks for her, but perhaps the silver lining is that she has a family that appreciate her despite the small defect on one hand.

I am a social worker, and you are very much on point here. A step to even things out is to even out the unbalance between men and women in when it comes to salary. Women are underpayed in general, and takes a harder hit financially being home with children and so on. There are many other areas too.

There are things that the government/society can do about these things. They just need to be done. Work for more equality between men & women has been done to some extent in the nordic countries I know.

In my town and workplace, there are a large number of parents with adopted girls from China. Out of all of them, I think there's only 1 boy (with a slight defect). I'm guessing the ratio of gender adoption for China is somewhere around 50 to 1 (female to male) from the people I see.

This is actually really sad and I feel bad for these guys. Some of you have been laughing at this and I think you are assuming that they just want a wife to be their servant and clean up after all their messes. That's not the case.

They want wives as partners to love and care for and be loved and cared for by. On more that one occasion I've drank way too much and ended up blanketing our toilet with puke because I didn't make it in time. Luckily I have a wife who loves me who cleaned it up and took care of me while I continued to heave my guts up. I've done the same for her as well on many occasions. She's not my servant and I'm not hers, we are partners who take care of each other because we love each other.

All of these millions of men will never get to experience the feeling of having someone truly love them so they drink themselves sick only to become even more aware of how alone they are and how alone they will always be.

This is pretty well known. China has always had a sweeping cultural penchant for boys over girls, and this plays out in extreme ways in some areas. I don't believe it was legally permitted, but the act was definitely not unheard of.

I don't believe it's prevalent much nowadays, but nonetheless it's pretty disgraceful mark for my home country.

That really bummed me out. What's the solution? It's not like the inequities in China are going to get any better financially anytime soon... And you can't just fight and booze that shit away. Everyone has to fuck something...

Not really sure how much I buy that. Sure, infanticide is technically outlawed, but plenty of reports from groups like Amnesty International cite that the government puts extremely heavy penalties on regional government to meet specific birth and sterilization quotas, and then turns a blind eye to how those quotes are accomplished, with punishments pretty much never getting handed down for the nasty bits like forced sterilizations and abortions.
