2 wheel GAF UNITE!

Thanks guys! Does anyone have any experience with tuning? I got a canned map from dynojet for my set up and I've auto tuned it. I got rid of all the decel popping but there are a few things I want to try to change and I'm hoping someone here is more knowledgeable than I am. On my warmup the idle is set really high (1400 rpm) and it is set to run really rich. But it seems to be off. The spark advance doesn't seem to match the rich a/f ratio and until I get past 145 engine temp I have a knock. I'm not sure if I should advance the spark, retard it or lower the fuel. Any insight would help.

Saved me a few sentences!

Just went out for a good few hours getting lost in the countryside. The season has definitely started.

Same here, went out for an hour and a half yesterday and today. Its so nice to be able to lean around bends with some dry roads.

All good fun

Don't worry Max, it's not mine :D (this pic was taken at the Buell specialist guys).

I bet every single one of us must have been out riding today. Such a beautiful day. Everything that was able to run under its own steam was on the road today. Everybody waving at each other and shit. People were goddamn ecstatic, it was great.

Jealous of you being able to ride. I mean, it's up in the mid-50s today, easily ride-able weather wise, but we just got 7 inches of snow on Thursday, so every road is not only covered in the sand they used to treat the snow (enough for a damn beach), but the snow is melting and there's puddles of sand/saltwater everywhere. Ain't no way I'm taking my clean baby out on these roads.

It's warm enough to ride, but there's still several inches of snow and some ice around. Lots of salt etc. as well. It's raining this coming week so that should help!

I cleaned and waxed my bike this afternoon after the ride as it was stinking.

So fresh and clean

It started raining here at 11am just as we got on the road and we got all the seasons in the space of the 3 hour ride. Irish weather lol.

Here's a pic of my bro going past me on his GSXR, captured it on my GoPro.

We're gonna have a high of 49F today. Hmm... go out or wait until it's 56F tomorrow?

What's your cutoff point regarding temperature?

Can't stop thinking about the awesome ride yesterday, am of half a mind to just lay down my work and take the bike for another spin.

Still way too cold for anything more than a short jaunt. My head felt like an ice cube inside that helmet, but I don't care because first ride out in 4 months!

Checked the tire pressures, got a bit of fresh fuel, and ran her up to redline a few times to clear out the valves. I was quickly reminded of that feeling in the pit of your stomach when doing first and second gear pulls. :D

Also, any motorcycle ride wouldn't be complete without a soccer mom in an SUV pulling out in front of me when I'm going 50mph and it's my right of way. Oh well, at least it allowed me to test the brakes out. lol

Gotta keep those senses sharp people!

Well, looked in the shed and the ZRX is definitely still leaking coolant. I'll have it apart sometime this week to see if it's just a hose or the rad itself.

So yeah, i didnt knkw this thread was here till just now.
Actually good timing. I basically have been riding this POS scooter to work because my real bike has needed a little tlc (plus i lost the keys in like november lol). Anyway my scooter failed its MOT on the weekend so what a better chance than to sort out my bike!

I have a CB500s. I said my scooter was a piece of crap, but this is not much better really. Not exactly flashy, and since this pic I dropped it and cracked some fairings around the indicator. Planning on tidying it up actually, looking to get a belly pan and a SS exhaust (as well as obviously repair the cracks).

I have been reading about the guys doing vlogging and it looks like most of them are changing to a chin mount for the gopro. It looks like all you need is a GoPro front helment mounting kit to make it happen. I might give this a try as I don't like the drag I get on the one side of the helmet.

Will keep you guys posted.

Also my hand guards arrived today and the guys is going to fit it for me over the weekend. Already checked that the GS handguards fit like a glove on the new R1200R. I am excited to see if its going to keep the wind chill off my hands.

I wish bmw would bring back a smaller offroad bike / trail bike.

Well they still make the G 650 GS, but that one had weaker forks, less suspension travel and not as much power as the x-challenge.

I don't think they will ever make a 450x again...

edit: man that 450 was a killer bike.

And you can get it for 6000€ new, you can pay more for other used bikes.

The 07 is more than £2,000 less than a new Street Triple in the UK. I think the Triumph is the nicer ride (well, I own one), but if I were buying new I'd have the Yamaha any day. The Triumph is better, but not 2 grand better.

Heck, even the 09 is slightly less money.

As far as Japanese nakeds go, I really like the XJR1300 and MT-01 as well.

That 07 is a steal for the money though, pretty incredible.

In other news: I actually managed to change the battery in my Monster 1100 without any assistance from the old man! Kinda proud of myself, especially since you basically have to dismantle half the bike to get to it:

I think this is an important step towards maintenance independence :p (well, some degree of it at least).

Graphics card box to hold the tank up? Cunning!

I am really having a love affair with the 2015 XJR1300 recently, now you mention it. I think it might have to be my next bike.

Racer or standard?

I sat on a few new ducati monsters the other day (1200 & 821) and man they misplaced the exhaust. I can't place my feet on the pedals without touching it

I knew that box would be good for something :D.

Yeah, saw it at a local dealer. It is a really good looking bike...

You know, I mentioned the other day that I was thinking about trading in the M2 for a newer 1125CR (also a Buell). But I couldn't do it. The M2 is just too cool and too much fun.

After riding the Monster again though yesterday, I realized that, while it is a great bike (light, nimble, sounds great, looks good) I don't like it as much as the Buells. I'm attached to it of course since I'm the first owner and I've had it for almost 5 years now. But it feels like such a waste to have it just sitting there so often. Maybe an I4 bike (like the XJR or an older MV Agusta Brutale with a 4 cylinder engine) would be a better addition to the other 2 cylinder bikes I do want to keep.

Difficult, but this is definitely "one of them good problems."

That is a good problem to have... that Brutale is a good looking machine and its special. Saw a vid the other day where a guy test rode the new one. Its just made with passion

What a dumb place to put the battery. The GS had it right under the seat, easy peasy. The ZRX has a compartment, but still easily accessible under the seat. My buddy's 599 had you taking covers off and wiggling stuff around to access it. I guess I've lucked out.

Definitely, possibly even better looking than the Ducati.

Yeah, ease of access was not a priority (when they designed it). All told it took me about two hours of fiddling to get it done...

It's like a Ferrari, they aren't designed for servicing in mind, you're just supposed to take it to Mr Ducati to get it fixed!

At least removing the tank on a bike isn't *too* much of a hassle. I was terrified of doing it until I realized how easy it is once you've done it a couple of times.

Haha, nope. Every single time I took the tank off the GS, I ended up needing to get new fuel lines, so a job that should've taken an afternoon took a week while I waited.

That's actually why I'm not in the garage right now working on the ZRX. I have a feeling I'm going to need new fuel hoses.
