Does anyone here own the Gold Box set? How's the packaging and the pie?
I have the "Definitive Gold Box edition" (PAL, German). Feels a bit floppy, but its nice. What do you mean with pie? ;)

Uh, what filler?

a lot of the side stories. They do relate to the main plot for the most part, but they drag on or are told in an inefficient way that makes it feel like they were just trying to fill space.

There are a bunch of people watching for the first time in here, dude.

that really didn't spoil anything. you have to see it in context to understand.

Watching this for the first time. I'm on Season 2 Episode 3.

I actually watched the first 5 episodes, but I had to return the DVDs to the library. That was about a year ago. I was really happy when I found Netflix had it, and I've watched this show nonstop. Some of the best television I've ever seen, but season 2 is lackluster even from the beginning.

It doesn't feel the same, and apparently it gets worse? I'm still enjoying it, but not in the same way I enjoyed season 1.

Fire Walk With Me is pretty awesome. aside from the actress who replaced Wayne's girlfriend as Donna.

It just feels like a standalone Lynch movie based on Twin Peaks focusing on a few characters instead of going in depth into everyone, with a lot more scenes like the last 20 minutes of the very last episode. Also it's scary as fuck and there's swearing, nudity, and a lot more violence.

Done with S2E10.

Holy shit, Super Norma in high school is absolutely hilarious. I was cracking up through out the cheerleading sequence. The previous episode felt weird. It felt that the series was ending, with everything wrapped up. There is still half a season left, but I have no idea where they are gonna go. Everything seems solved. This thing they are bringing in, with Jacque's brother trying to frame Cooper seems tacked on. Perhaps it will lead to something awesome. Definitely looking forward to getting to the end.

Just finished episode 4. That funeral was hilarious. The guy riding that coffin. Crazy!

Was this marketed as a sitcom? It's way funnier than it should be.

Finished the TV series;

Thought it was fairly obvious Cooper would wind up as BOB in the end. Didn't understand the room sequences much though. There were a few things that didn't make much sense to me in the end, the whole White Lodge / Black Lodge thing. Mind you I got distracted watching some episodes toward the end as season 2 was really up and down. Season 1 was constantly involving but season 2 was more miss than hit for me.

Check out the film, it sheds some more light on the
Cooper/Bob scenario, although it's something that can be deduced from the Black Lodge sequence in the finale I suppose.

My interpretation: The black and white lodge are in the same place. I think someone says something like this -- "they are one and the same" -- maybe the midget? Which is why Cooper keeps walking to the different rooms in the lodge. He keeps coming back to the same rooms because his perception of time is all screwed up and maybe the lodge is maze-like. They are trying to corrupt him/steal his soul because they know he's looking for the white lodge. but before I can say anything else, you have to watch the movie!

I enjoyed Fire Walk with Me. Yes, it's very different in tone from the series, but I don't think it deserves the shit it gets. I actually sympathized with Laura, and it was nice to actually see what was going on with her.

The giant is the one who says "one and the same". It happens after the old man gives him the coffee, and then is replaced by the giant who sits down and says it.

Yeah, I definitely didn't think the movie was bad. It was alright. It's just that compared to the best of the series, it's much worse.

I don't know how many of you are into little collectable vinyl toys, but anyways there's a line called Be@rbrick. I got this one some time ago:
Bearbrick+Series+21+by+Medicom+-+Twin+Peaks+Laura+Palmer+Wrapped+In+Plastic+100%2525+Bearbrick.jpg

Some time later I watched Twin Peaks, and after I finished the series I happened to look at the little card that came with it and noticed it said TWIN PEAKS. I looked on the back, and lo-and-behold it's supposed to be Laura Palmer. Anyways, stupid little story, but I was super stoked when I found that out.

Got my FWWM BD earlier in the week, but I haven't watched it. The crazy Valve ARG was zapping up all my free time, to be honest. :p I'll watch it next week, when Portal 2 is out of the way.

Looks like there's a Dale Cooper one as well.

I almost want to spend $20 on it because I love Dale Cooper so much.

Haha, they're awesome, if a tad creepy.

The French Blu-Ray, right? Is that region-locked?

As a person who normally doesn't collect such things (at least not anymore), buying the random boxes would be pointless if I want only one specific figure.

They're both very different, but I'd say the series because you get to see and know a lot of great characters, and the Laura Palmer case is very engrossing. Fire Walk with Me is best after finishing the series if you want to see what was going on in her life just before her death. I like both of them, but for different reasons.

Yeah. Couldn't tell you, sorry - Australia is lumped into Region B along with Europe.

Edit: It's not listed on the liesinc BD info site, but Amazon.fr says it's locked to Region B. No idea how accurate they are with that information, though.

They're only $5 bucks, and buying them blind is half the fun though! But I have to admit I kind of want to buy the Dale one too.

Right now I have my vinyl toys set up in kind of a "reenactment" of them discovering Laura's body, haha.

You can't say this and not post a photo. :p

Guys which is better the series or the movie?
I'd say the series and that seems to be the majority view.
But they aren't separate, they're all part of the same story. Don't watch one and not the other.

Just finished the show today. Amazing finale, and glad I trudged through the second half of season 2. Also glad I knew absolutely nothing about it other than the vague memories I had seeing a couple episodes as a kid.
The bank scene caught me by surprise, it was so awkward and I had no idea there would be a bomb in there. I especially love how you have no idea what happened afterwards. Same with Ben Horn getting smashed in the head and maybe killed. The scenes with agent Cooper in the Blacklodge (?) were great. Captured the feeling of a dream so well. And the cliffhanger with Cooper becoming Bob was awesome, but I could see it pissing some people off not knowing what would happen next.

I just wish there wasn't so much bullshit to get through to get to this point. ie: The fixing the car subplot, the Little Nicky subplot, Billy Zane, etc. Or maybe it was because there wasn't any more batshit-insane awesome Leland Palmer. I also wish Lynch had directed more eps, because his always seemed the best.
I have Fire Walk With Me added to my Netflix queue, and have no idea what to expect. Can't wait.

It'd be hard to put one over the other, imo. The series is goes into tons of depth in several characters, different story lines, and twists. It's a lot more light hearted for the most part, aside from several notable scenes.

The movie is a full-on David Lynch movie focused exclusively on the events leading up to and including the night Laura Palmer dies and the people involved. So, a lot of the characters in the series either aren't in it or get very little screen time, instead, it's mostly Laura Palmer. It's similar in tone to the last half hour of the last episode of the show, except it's rated R, has lots of swearing, disturbing violence, and disturbing sex. it's scary as shit and leaves me shaking at times. Donna has a new actress in place of Laura Flynn Boyle who is a bit awkward, but plays the role just fine. Fans of David Lynch movies will love it, but fans of the series won't necessarily. Depends on what they liked about the series.

I think they compliment each other nicely and it really puts into perspective that the series takes place after the worst murder/crime in the town takes place. Lots of drama and killing happens in the series, but the Laura Palmer story is really the craziest and worst one...which explains why people seem so weird and disturbed in the series.

I'm not asking for spoilers, but I'm watching this and wondering if in the end there will be any kind of resolution, or whether this is just one of those series that leaves 100X more questions than any answers. What kind of ending am I in for. (not asking what the ending is).

(spoilers in case someone doesn't want to know):
it leaves open a couple possibilities for you to ponder. Given what you know about the story/characters at that point, it's a pretty resolute ending. Someone probably disagrees. but it's definitely not one of those "fade out on some random ass scene" endings. Or a cop-out. it's...wow. it's good, and part of a long sequence that's the best part of the show :)

You're in for an ending to the show, but not necessarily thee ending. For me it's a perfect finale, it offers resolution of a sort as well as surrounding itself in intrigue and ambiguity. It will leave you asking questions but there isn't anything wrong with that. Anyway the big mystery of Twin Peaks is pretty much solved way before the last episode. There's complete resolution to the mystery that's at the heart of the show, but if you fall in love with Twin Peaks you might end up changing your philosophy on endings and answers to mysteries; due to the drop in quality that occurs after the heart of the show is ripped out.

Just started Season 2 today. Season 1 season finale was ridiculously awesome! I can't believe they crammed so many things into that one episode. It was great.

I just finished the first season too. Wow!! Amazing! On to season two.

The Billy Zane subplot really didn't bother me at all. It was actually refreshing compared to some of the other ones. Maybe liking Audrey as a character helped.

Man I was CooperxAudrey so hard

I tried to read earlier in the thread but quit because I was afraid to be spoilered. I was a kid when it was on and don't really remember it but watched Fire Walk with Me.

I'm deep in the 2nd season now. There are definitely some true definition of "characters" in the show. It was hard to watch from the first episode though. Really cheesy and at first I thought the theme song music was awful but it grew on me a ton over time. Perhaps because my brain recognizes it as the start of a new episode I'll enjoy.

I knew James was familiar right away but I couldn't place him for a long time. Then all of a sudden, BAM! lol

As a youth, it seemed like Lara Flynn Boyle was a bit of a star. How did Sherilynn Fenn not go onto success? God, she was ridiculously hot in some of the early episodes. Something about her...
