So excited to go to the game in Toronto tomorrow night

Should I wear my Jays hat or my Mets hat?

Hmmmm

traitor.

I went to the USAvsCAN game yesterday. Had good seats; a little worse than my season tickets though. Anyways, it was a fantastic game. We really held our own against USA considering how fucking piss-poor our pitching is. Haven't seen the Roger's Centre that electric in a while..

Antartica says hi.

Hmmmm

Jays hat. Duh.

Canada should have no problem against Italy, and the next game's likely to be against Venezuela unless those guys upset the US tonight. I think they'll be pretty well matched against them. It's not impossible they make it to the pool final for a rematch against the US.

Korea got WAXED saturday. Blowout 14-2. Japan is playin for keeps.

I just hope to god the USA actually shows up this time. I don't want to have to answer to "What happened to the US team????" a million times again this year.

Also, seriously, fuck a-rod.

They rambled about it on pretty much every news show for a good week. I saw the clip of dude running off base like 400 times. Everyone knew that umps name and there was a lot of investigation into his character and stuff.

They were not happy about it, lol. Though, it was a horrible, horrible call so they were deservedly pissed.

I'm surprised Korea got stomped by Japan. I know their team is weaker than 2006's, but damn. They shut out China, so they still advance. The next Japan vs. Korea game should be interesting.

Canada vs. America was a great match. On one hand I should commend Canada for their excellent play, but on the other hand.... Canada, lol.

BEAT VENEZUELA.

wow your feed must be like a minute ahead of mine, i come to post on the exact same thing the moment i see it and your post is already made =D

Fuck yeah!

Damnit, why's the only Oakland player gotta suck =(

so Australia and Italy have teams... do those countries even care about baseball? Im assuming their interest in the sport is lower than America's in hockey, but anyone know?

I officially love the WBC

Bought a team Canada hat at the Roger's Centre and watched USA vs Venezuela in what was far from a half packed house

But the people that were there were quite loud, lots of Venezuelan fans that kept going nuts.......until the US started to smoke them

Afterwards we went to a bar that actually had a lot of people in baseball clothing from various WBC nations and MLB teams.......some Americans and some Venezuelans which was nice to see considering bars in Toronto are usually pretty weak when it comes to baseball fans coming out to watch games

And everyone was cheering for the Aussies blowing out the Mexicans :D

Miiiiiiiight go see Canada vs Venezuela should Canada win against Italy

I also wanted to start a Hugo Chavez chant but decided against it

Just came back from a busy day at the Foro Sol in Mexico City. Massive lulz at my team, we got *banned word that means sex without consent* by the aussies (yeah, i'm mexican :( ) Luckily, the Cuba game was really good and the Cubans there had an awesome 3 hour party inside and outside the Stadium.

I also drank the best mojito ever made by a funny cuban guy and a big, cold Tecate to quench my thirst, so it wasn't that bad after all. I'll try to upload some cell phone pics i took during the 2 games, cause the fans here in Mexico rule.

I'm not into baseball that much, but the Classic won my heart, so people in the US, please fill those stadiums at the 2nd round.

EDIT: Oliver Perez played horrible, so NY Mets fans, beware... hahaha

Oh and LOL @ all the Cuban tourism ads at Roger's Centre.......did the ESPN commentators make any mention of them? I have a picture of all the American relievers standing in the bullpen right beside the Go Cuba ad

I just noticed this thread.

It's a shame Cuba seems to have gotten a terribly easy group (even though Australia seemed scary last night) for I fear they will be too cocky going into the next round.

Vamos Cuba!!!

lol Netherlands is winning. It would be awesome if this team advanced to the 2nd round.

OMG Netherlands rocks so much, not only they have the sickest soccer uniforms ever and hot grass hockey chicks but they school caribbean nations on baseball LOL.

I agree with most of your post but how many of these dudes are actually from Netherlands? Aren't they mostly from Curacao?

Like a state or a colony?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curacao said:
On July 1, 2007, the island of Curaçao was due to become an autonomous associated state, under the Kingdom of the Netherlands. On November 28, 2006, the island council rejected a clarificatory memorandum on the process. On July 9, 2007 the new island council of Curaçao approved the agreement previously rejected in November 2006.[4] On December 15, 2008 Curaçao was scheduled to become a separate country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands (like Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles are now). This dissolution is still planned, but has been postponed to an indefinite future date.[5]

I'm Dutch btw, trying to stay awake as long as possible to watch the whole game.

Watching Nederlands vs Puerto Rico right now. Great defensive game, just like Korea vs Japan earlier. This is not really related to WBC but if Puerto Rico becomes a state, that means they can't have their own team for international tournaments anymore?

Korea with the get back game last night. Great game. But really Korea should have won by much more. So many stupid mistakes. The talent is there they just don't do a lot of the basics..

You think so? I think it was a close game and I didn't see Korea with many chances to score against the great pitchers that Japan had. If anything I think Korea was lucky Japan put a goose egg on the scoreboard.

What a great game between Japan and Korea. Just classic baseball all around and it really makes me wish some all sports channel in the US would televise the occasional international game or championship series. I finally got to check out Yu Darvish on the hill and he has some seriously nasty stuff and I can't wait to watch the 2nd round matchups as there are a ton of exciting teams left to watch. Anyone by chance know of any english websites I can use to keep up on or even watch the Japanese season on??? Seriously I am even more excited for this WBC then the last one and it sucks we have to wait 4 more years after this.

It's every 3 years isn't it?

edit; nm I'm off point today.

I think baseball should keep it every 3 years instead of having it every 4 years. Those other sports that have the tournaments every 4 years like soccer and basketball is already established internationally whereas baseball is still trying to get other countries interested in their sport. Having it every 3 years increases the attention to baseball that WBC provides, also that means we get to watch great international baseball more frequently!

Too many baserunning mistakes.

They should have scored when they had men one 2nd and 3rd but hit into a double play. On the play before that they guy should have scored on the double anyways. Also the hit and run pop fly double play... Their base running was trash. They were giving up outs on the basepath like candy..

Japan's pitching looked good... Darvish is a beast and Fujigawa looked sharp. But the rest of the staff look ok, beatable but ok..

Oh yeah, now I remember that play. That was just horrible. 2nd and 3rd and got a double play out of it. Yeah Darvish has some good stuff. Yankees need to throw a couple hundred million around and pick him up! Just kidding. To that other guy it's 3 years from the first WBC to this one, but after this tournament it becomes every 4 years.
