Watching Nederlands vs Puerto Rico right now. Great defensive game, just like Korea vs Japan earlier. This is not really related to WBC but if Puerto Rico becomes a state, that means they can't have their own team for international tournaments anymore?

No one know? Or I gotta ask Yahoo Answers? lol.

Oh yeah, now I remember that play. That was just horrible. 2nd and 3rd and got a double play out of it. Yeah Darvish has some good stuff. Yankees need to throw a couple hundred million around and pick him up! Just kidding. To that other guy it's 3 years from the first WBC to this one, but after this tournament it becomes every 4 years.

Yeah they didn't want to go head to head with World Cup Soccer every time

PR already turned down joining the US a long time ago.. plus Taiwan has a team in the WBC sooooo... anything is possible

lol, I like watching this netherlands team. They are a little sloppy but they play hard.

Thanks. I'm rooting for Nederlands to pull this game out. They should beat the D.R. to P.R. so the world knows who they are.

No, PR would not be allowed to compete in international events such as the wbc or the olympics; that's been the argument used against statehood for decades now.

(not that being a state seems likely, btw)

Hazel Mae is a hottie. Different than the usual talking head. Very easy on the eyes.

Edit: Wow! At the strikeout

Edit 2: Ok maybe not nuclear hot. But still a hottie.

That's not exactly true about international events. Like I said Taiwan is in the WBC and they are a part of China.

If you say Taiwan in China you could get in big trouble. It's "Chinese Taipei"

I have a lot of friends who claim to be "Taiwanese" as opposed to Chinese so basically they have no idea what they want. But they have a WBC team!

I know about taiwan, I'm just repeating what's always been told to the public here. (It was last said in the late nineties by a high official of the Clinton administration; just a short time before a status vote was to take place...1998? I think.)

I have little doubt some deal could be reached like taiwan/china should it ever go that far.

It's not about what Taiwan wants to be, it's about what China wants them to be

uh ok.. whatever you say, I am not going to derail the WBC with this topic. I am still going call Taiwan, Taiwan.

Holy mother of fuck that was a painful game to watch. :( Italy played fantastically, Canada felt the need to run out their iffy pitchers (well, iffier I guess :P) and couldn't string the hits together. Waste of a great game by Morneau and Bay - naturally, those two are fucking amazing - and Canada was just unable to get that one base hit. Ugh.

And wtf, does Italy have like a million left handed pitchers just kicking around or what.

Was looking for this thread. I was live at the PR vs. Netherlands game. Epic shit, but hey at least we won at the end in an epic way. Netherlands broke down at the later innings and we were definitely killing their pitchers like flies :lol . Will post some nice pictures of the game later in the day

I want to point something out. If PR does become a state of USA I am fairly sure we lose our international teams, BUT something could be worked out. I believe there was an option some time ago for this to happen, Olympic-wise at least, but I totally forgot.

Not that this is a newsflash, but K-Rod is such a douche. There up 10-1, he's striking out minor league Italians in the 8th, he gives up a double to some Italian guy and he's still showing up the hitters and making an ass of himself.

:lol I fucking hate K-Rod. Though i don't think something like that is wrong... he actually does it all the time, why would he change his routine?

For the record, I hate him because he denied me an autograph >:(

And WOW @ Jimenez... sick outing.

Wow. Netherlands just beat the Dominican Republic for the second time to advance to the second round and send DR packing.

Only 3.5 hours before I have to get up and go to work but who cares.

:D

I'm in love with Netherlands, i'll be forever grateful.

Hey Prince how were you watching? did you guys are getting the games?

I was watching the game on ESPN deportes. I then realized after the game that it is also showing on MLB network. So, I'm now watching the post-game report in English on the MLBN. I am also glad to see my boy Harold Reynolds doing analysis for the MLB network.

Jesus Christ. What the hell happened to DR? I don't even know what to say.

It was a good game though. Congrats to the Netherlands.

Fortunately I have ESPN America on digital cable. So far they only showed the highlights on the national channel. I think I'm one of the few people following the WBC in the Netherlands.

How the Netherlands got away with giving only 1 run with bases loaded at 1 out is beyond me...Terrible pitching and he's already gone through half his allotted pitches :lol

USA is playing in 10 minutes.

EDIT:

WOW @ Netherlands players only making 24k a year.

And lol @ keys expiring and the charter plane being ready to go cause their country thought they would lose in first round. :lol :lol

Posted this in the MLB thread, i'll post it here too.

here is what the first couple games of round 2 will be:

Pool B Runner Up (MEX/AUS or CUBA) VS. Korea

Pool 2
