"you'd need a perfect throw to get him out in that situation... and as we all know but refuse to discuss Derek Jeter is a poor defensive shortstop" *gunshot in booth* "sorry, meant to say no chance for Jeter to make that throw"

Japan has the coolest looking batting helmets ever.

i wonder if this loss will motivate the u.s. to take an approach similar to olympic basketball (e.g. pick a team of guys who can check their egos at the door and do what it takes to be the best team possible)?

Ugghh are you shitting me, Japan and Korea for the fifth time? Something needs to be done about the format of this tournament, cause that should never be the case, playing the same team 5 times.

At this point I couldn't give a shit about the winning team, although I will admit in a way it's nice to see the 2 teams taking this WBC the most serious playing for the final. At least half of their respective rosters didn't drop out with "injuries".

Thats what they said they did with this team. It was a good group of guys, its just they were not prepared.

Well both teams take the WBC serious. I hope America will decide to put out the best team we have and put some more soul into it. I would love to at least see some more young guys get into the act.

Another difference is just the basic "pride" a player takes in being on his country's team. The US is really lacking that...

Selig is on the ESPN broadcast and says the owners voted 25-5 to release all their best players for the 2013 tourney

They agreed before they started the WBC that the owners couldn't say "No" to the players. So that hasn't been the issue. The Players just have not wanted to play.

wow. that was a great play.
he was safe though but its major league baseball so if the ball beats the runner hes out

I don't know what Iwamura was doing. He took forever to make the tag. Play shouldn't have been close at all.

Anybody have a link to a site where I can stream the game?

I don't think that came out the way you intended it to.

huh?
lemme rewrite it for you

He SHOULD HAVE been called safe but because it's major league umpires - if the ball beats the runner to the bag (regardless of the tag), he will be called OUT.

Yeah its kinda like Walking to dunk the ball in Basketball.

Little does Japan know of Korea's secret weapon hiding in the clubhouse:

You know what they should do? Have the championship and semifinal games in the previous Champion's country. Like if Japan wins tonight, have the 2013 Championship and Semifinal in Tokyo.

edit: nice DP.
