Wow, that was one of the nicest double plays I have ever seen. The runner did everything he could to take out the second baseman and he still got the throw on the money.

You know what they should do? Have the championship and semifinal games in the previous Champion's country. Like if Japan wins tonight, have the 2013 Championship and Semifinal in Tokyo.

edit: nice DP.

Unfortunately I think the MLB managers would cry too much about the loss of revenue and make an even bigger fuss about getting a good team together.

Edit:
Awesome double play. This game has had me on the edge of my seat all night.

:lol @ That slide in 2nd.
Awesome, players of this side of the world should take defense lessons with with both of these teams.

Yeah probably. But I hope this gets like the World Cup, where every League puts their season on hold. Personally, I think its a bigger deal than the World Series since its the ... World.

Man, fuck whoever said in the MLB thread that an all Asian WBC final game would not deliver :lol This is the best these two teams have played throughout the entire tournament.

Well yeah they probably are the best two teams in the tournament. 1) because they are more ready for it, they are not in "Spring Training" mode like the US. 2) The US doesn't give a shit and didn't send their best players. Fuck, we had Adam Dunn in RF!

I'm with you. I'd like to see them take off ten games of the season to allow for the WBC. But that's even more lost revenue. Then again, the baseball season is too long anyway, a few less games and it might draw in some more people in the middle of the season when it starts to drag. :lol

Fuck the fools who say "Asian teams play like AA leagues." I've seen a lot of bullshit like that all over the net. It's like they forget there are like four or five MLB players on Japan's team right now.

They would never take off 10 games. Records are a big deal, so no chance at that.

They should just move the season back 1 month. What is so bad about playing the World Series in November every 4 years?

edit: and personally, the Japan league, its probably about AAAA. But they do have some great players, but as a whole, its not at the same level as the MLB.

Everyone here is correct about the awesome that is this game. Anyone who loves the game itself should appreciate this matchup. Great playing all around.

I don't think it's a big deal, but it still doesn't give players a ton of time to get ready for the tournament. If they could get rid of two weeks worth of games on the season every four years, I think those two weeks could do it, especially if they got rid of some of the downtime between WBC games and such.

Watching japan and korea play all tourney long has been incredible (well, one of the first 2 games I saw was a stinker but other than that) and this one is even better. Just amazing baseball. :D

I'm mildly cheering for Korea for no real reason, but damn whoever wins sure as shit earned it.

He's pretty boring to me, honestly. Haven't seen much out of him aside from his amazing velocity. He doesn't seem to have as diverse an array of pitches as Iwakuma.

You're a good baseball man Windu, I there should be more americans thinking like that.

I want to se Iwakuma for the 8th i love the way he pitches, he has some CRAZY late movement in his ball.

Giving up 3 fairly deep flyballs in the 7th says no.

Agreed. I'm loving Iwakuma, but in a game this tight they can't risk keeping him in after that many pitches.

I found it interesting when Bud Selig mentioned that there were more injuries during spring training than there were in the WBC. Most of these countries are giving an insane effort, I would have thought there would be more injuries. A lot of people were complaining about the injuries the US suffered, and it does suck, but it's proof that it's no excuse not to participate. Internationalizing this game more will be nothing but good for it.

Edit: The chick sitting in the bottom corner next to the bullpen is hot :D

Does anyone know if the game is sold out? If not, what are the attendance numbers?
Dammit, I'm jealous for anyone at this game. The energy and excitement must be amazing.

Urgh, get Iwakuma out of there. He caught a lucky break on that foul ball.

That was a right handed hitters wet dream. That pitch could have been hit over 500 feet.

What time is it in Japan and Korea? Afternoon?

It's about 1:45pm in Japan right now. Everyone in my office is getting live updates off the Internet. I don't think anyone is working right now, myself included.

Are there any better fans than Koreans? They get a bad rap sometimes for their fanaticism, but nobody can touch their enthusiasm.
Very true, their fans are part of the reason I was rooting for them today. Granted, while the game has been great and very exciting there is no denying the Japanese are a bit better still and deserve to win the WBC again.
